Friday Favorites #180

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! We made it to Friday! I am so happy to see Friday here. I have a dentist appointment today, hopefully no cavities. I tried to go to the dentist last week, but I got caught in so much traffic that I ended up missing my appointment, that was tough. I drove myself into work (usually I carpool) to miss my appointment, darn! Usually it takes about an hour to get home at the time I left, but it took an hour and 45 minutes. Okay enough yucky stuff, let's get onto some Friday Favorites. Don't forget to go link up your Friday Loves over on The Blended Blog.

I didn't blog too much this week, having too much fun on the weekends to get posts together, paired with working overtime...makes no time for blogging.

Tuesday: What's Up Tuesday (what we've been up to)
Wednesday: California Fall Outfit

I also posted to YouTube, I'm sharing 10 beauty tips for beginners. It would mean a lot to me if you could click and watch!

Friday we watched some friends kids.

They were watching Super Buddies.

Snuggle time.

Then we wall went out for ice cream...it's tradition when we get together with them.

Saturday were family pictures!  Mr. took the kids to their soccer games, I stayed behind with each of them while the other one was at their game, with them being sick all week, we didn't want them to be outside in the hot sun too much. Then I went and got my make up done.

Before:

After:

I can't wait to get them back. It is session 1 of 2, the other session being this Sunday. But here is a sneak peak (which I NEVER do) of location #1.

Sunday we hit up apple picking with friends. It's about a 2 hour drive from us, but totally worth the 4 hours of driving!

It was super hot and we were done picking.

Then we walked across the way for a picnic and some wine tasting. I know wine tasting and apple picking right across the dirt road from each other, genius!

You guys I'm cheating...on my day planner. I have had a Franklin Covey Day Planner since I was 13...this is HUGE. I've decided to spread my wings and try something else. Currently our family planner is the Franklin, while I chose the Erin Condren planner to be my blog planner. See my review mid year update here. Anyway, I've decided to go with two different planners, don't worry I'll do full reviews on both. The first Lindsay from Lindsay's Sweet World talked about it on Wednesday, and I went and checked it out and HAD to get one too. I like the Erin Condren, but man are they expensive! I feel like they are great planners, but I'm not into the whole scrapbooking aspect of it...Anyway, I saw that they had a binded planner! Say what?! Instead of spiral, yes please! I can't wait to get it! If you want to see the spiral one, Lindsay got that one...so head on over to her blog to see that review

I knew I wanted to try another planner, one for life stuff, so I googled best planners, got a few options and ended up picking Plum Planner. I've heard of them before, but I really liked them. I like how you can really customize what you want out of your planner. What sort of layout etc. Like I said before I'll be going over all of that in detail later...but until then, I'm getting this cute thing. Imagine spiral binding, I couldn't get a picture of it, but this is my cover.

If you need a good laugh today...you HAVE to watch this. I actually laughed out loud, it's less than a minute to watch. Do it, you won't regret it.

That's all for now. We're doing soccer all day Saturday and then Sunday is round 2 of pictures...yep there is a LOT of bribing going on! What are your plans?

California Fall Outfit

Hi Foxy Friends! Happy Wednesday! I can't believe it's Wednesday, I have a big project due on Friday...not close to being done...not good. Oops! Anyway, that doesn't stop me from dressing cute though :) I know this week on The Blended Blog is all about plaid...but a while ago I decided plaid just wasn't my thing. Even though I try, I don't think it looks that great on me? Perhaps I haven't found the right thing yet? Not sure, but I thought today I would share my perfect California Fall outfit.

I saw this shirt from Dani from Coffee Break with Dani, and I had to get it. It's so cute with the ruffle and a perfect addition to my Fall wardrobe. It's thicker, so it will keep me somewhat warmer than my thinner tank tops. The jeans I got from the Nordies Anniversary Sale and are so comfy and they are currently on sale!

What's Up Wednesday....umm....Tuesday

Hi Foxy Friends! I can't believe the last time I linked up with  ShayMel and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday. So let's get started.

1. What We're Eating

I actually took pictures! We get together with friends almost every Friday, and when we do I like to try out new recipes. I tried this Jambalya Instant Pot recipe. I can't remember who recommended it...but someone on the internet, and it didn't disappoint.

The next night we decided it would taste good if we added some split soup, also delicious.

I also made these Chicken Thighs in the Instant Pot. I've changed the cook time a bit, as the timing in the recipe is WAY too long! I pressure cook them for 8 minutes, and then I don't cook them in the broiler while rendering the sauce down. I put on wire rack on cookie sheet, and then render sauce down in the IP (10-15 minutes). Once sauce is rendered down, I put on both sides of the chicken, THEN I broil it, about 5-7 minutes a side. Comes out perfect every time now.

2. What I'm Reminiscing About

This past weekend we went Apple picking. Last year it was raining driving up there, and it was pretty cool out. But we had such a blast, that we went back this year, stay tuned for those pictures on Friday.

3. What I'm Loving

Watching this kid hone his karate skills. He loves it so much, and is now a purple belt.

And watching this girl in soccer, she's loving every minute of it and scored a goal last Saturday!

4. What We've Been Up To

What have we not been up to? We threw Mini Fox a birthday party.

Did a 5K run together

Helped watch our friends kids a few times.

This past weekend:

And taking this kid to soccer practice twice a week.

5. What I'm Dreading

Not much, waking up super early? I do dread that on some days. Especially now that it's going to start getting cooler, staying in a warm comfy bed sounds really nice.

6. What I'm Working On

Our Halloween costumes! I can't wait to show you guys. I finally got all the pieces I ordered in...Mr. says...it looks like we're going to be robbers with what you bought...don't worry, we're not going to be. I hope they turn out as good as I think they are!

7.  What I'm Excited About

Our Halloween Costumes! I've been championing these costumes for the last 2 years...I finally got my way this year! The kids are excited. We're now trying to convince our friends to do it. They were on board, but their kids have changed their mind...I'm thinking once they see the first one, they're going to want to do it too...fingers crossed we can all match!

8. What I'm Watching/Reading

I'm currently reading, well trying to read, Magnolia Story

9. What I'm Listening To

Not much these day, Top 40 pop music when I'm in the car.

10. What I'm Wearing

A lot of shorts and t-shirts...

And dresses, I'm going to be sad when I have to switch to pants.

Dress / Jacket (similar) / Bracelet / Sandals (similar)

11. What I'm Doing This Weekend

This weekend we're doing 2 soccer games and a birthday party on Saturday. Then on Sunday we're doing early morning session 2 for our family photos. I can't wait, although I'm sure the kids are NOT going to be happy with us when we wake them up early for picture taking.

Also hoping to decorate for Halloween in between all of that, see how I decorate here

12. What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month

Halloween! I was never one for Halloween or dressing up, but since kids, all over that. I love it, and trying to come up with family costumes. See past costumes here. The last costumes I made were these...excited to make something this year too. Now to find the time!

13. What Else is New?

Not much, the kids were sick last week, they rarely have to miss school and both of them missed 2 days of school. Friday they woke up and declared...yep going to school today. Luckily they both woke up fever free.

Bonus Question: What’s your favorite pumpkin food to eat during this season?

I would much rather look at pumpkins than eat them...I do not like anything pumpkin....gag.

Friday Favorites #179

Happy Friday! I have today off, hopefully getting outfits together for our family photos tomorrow...I'm starting to panic, Boy and Mr. don't really have anything to wear yet...yikes! I got this, I can put something together right? Okay, let's get onto my favorites.

In case you missed it this week, I actually blogged 3 days this week, well 4 including this one...

Monday: 5 Blogging Tips
Wednesday: Date Night Dress
Thursday: 3 Family Outfits for Everyone for Family Pictures

Last week, I told that Baby Fox was getting some sort of award at school but we didn't know what. He won Scholar of the month for his class. We're so proud of him, he had only been in school for 2.5 weeks when we got the call. I love how much he loves school and it's always the best part of his day. He's been sick the last few days and is really hoping he is better tomorrow so he can go to school.

Saturday was a full day of soccer, except I only got one picture between 3 hours of soccer time, oops.

Story time: Mr. lost his phone at Mini Fox's soccer game...and we looked everywhere, asked everyone on the field if they had seen it. As a last ditch effort, we decided to completely empty out the trunk and look through everything. I tasked Mini Fox to look through Mr.'s chair, in case we missed it, and what would you know, 5 seconds later she finds the phone! So we let her pick lunch...she picked Corner Bakery, her favorite place to eat.

Saturday night we headed to my aunts for dinner. And we celebrated Baby Fox's scholar of the month award.

And then we lite the candle again for Mini Fox.

My aunt got her this dress for her birthday, she loved it.

The reason we went to my aunts house was to run a 5K for post breast cancer reconstruction surgery. We did the run 4 years ago, when Mini Fox was just a baby, and this year she did it herself this year. We had to wake the kids up super early, I got them dressed while they were laying down...

Tried to get them out the door, but they took a stop on the soft carpet.

Once we got there they were fine.

Start of the race.

I ran most of the race, but then I ran into my aunt on a turn around, so I backtracked a bit and ran/rested with her the of the time. We were walking to try and find Mr. and the kids, as when we passed them Mini Fox was crying.

Raced finished, all smiles.

So turns out...Mini Fox was sick. We got back to my aunts house and Mini Fox felt a little hot, took her temp at it was 101.6. So we're trying to rush out of the house, so as to not expose my aunt any more germs, and Mini Fox throws up all over the kitchen...and we made her walk a 5K...parent fail? We're still trying to get her better, and Baby Fox caught it too...they've both missed more school then they've gone to this week...boo!

Good news though, as of the time I am writing this post, both kids are fever free...let's hope it continues when they wake up.

I want to make these, now I NEED to throw a Halloween party so I can make them!

Totally different note: How fun was this video? They had 1 minute to shop at Sephora, like Super Market Sweep style, it was super fun, and then they had to do a make up look with what they grabbed. Fact: Tati spent over $500 in one minute...that's talent man!

Alright that's all for now. Enjoy you're weekend! Provided the kids are feeling better, we're going apple picking on Sunday with some friends. What are you up to this weekend? Anything Fall related? Now head on over to The Blended Blog to link up your Friday Loves.
