That Time I Tried an Outfit Selfie and Failed

My wireless remote broke for my camera, I tried to just click the shutter and run into place, but I can't seem to get anything in focus. My house is a mess and I have no where to take a picture right now...so I decided today is going to be the first selfie outfit post. I think I totally failed, you be the judge.

I really dislike it getting dark so early now. I leave for work at 5am and get home at 5pm, it's dark. So outfit posts aren't happening outside right now. I need to take them inside somewhere, but the lighting in my bathroom is horrible. I bring our lap from our bedroom in...it makes the lighting even more weird. I realize that all these pictures are slightly blurry too, because there wasn't much light, the flash didn't work and I need a new plan for outfit posts.

Anyway, enough complaining. This outfit I threw together in 5 seconds flat. I didn't have to think about it, I just threw it on and walked out the door. Which is much needed because I want all the sleep I can get, so I need something quick and easy.

This is the scarf I got from the scarf exchange I did with my girlfriends

I should have just used the DSLR camera and gotten slightly blurry photos, since that's how these turned out because of the low light and shaky hands.

I was playing around with some fake eyelashes, I actually bought these (Ardell 204) for our family photo shoot, but decided they were just too long and went with a different pair (a Japanese pair from Daiso, everything in there is a $1.50, it's awesome).. I finally got them to work and by work I mean I wasn't a fumbling mess and actually got them to stick to my skin. So instead of putting on eye make up I put on these babies and it totally looks like I did my make up...sort of.

I look like a deer in headlights in this one. So see my hair? I tried a no heat curl, and it totally worked! It was super easy, and even though I was running late yesterday, I just took the twisted braid out, combed my fingers through and I was done 30 seconds later. EASY! This was after a full 12 hours of having it in. When I first took them out my hair was a bit poofy, but it relaxed and I am loving how easy it is. They are slighly tighter waves than when I use the curling wand, but super simple and something to do so my hair isn't stick straight. Plus it gives my hair a break from the flat iron I use everyday. Yes I use one everyday, because I have some awesome bedhead.

I actually didn't end up taking my jacket off yesterday, but I really like how simple but put together this outfit is.

Moral of this post, I will not be taking any more outfit selfies. I look like a deer in headlights and my bathroom lights are less than desirable.

Fall Challenge Week 1

Here we go again! Another round with Alison for the Fall Challenge. I've previously done the Spring and Summer Challenge and have loved both of them! Looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new ones!

As always we get the first outfit on Sunday evening, so I only have two outfits for you today.

Day 1

I was unsure of the which color booties to wear, so here is the black ones:

Shirt - Ann Taylor Loft (old), Boyfriend Jeans - Old Navy, Black Booties - Nordstroms, Necklace - Jane.com
 and the gray ones:

Which do you like better?

Grey Booties - Target

I was supposed to have a tassle necklace, but I had bought one last year and when I put it on Mr. said...that looks like that thing you pull back your drapes with. Looks like you took it from your Mom's house and put it around your neck, suffice to say it went back and I probably won't buy one again, lol! I still really like them, but Mr. doesn't so...you know he's the one looking at me.

Day 2

Next up, it's still relatively warm where I live, so the big plaid scarf I bought was totally out of the question, as was the riding boots and the long sleeve tee.

Shirt - Target, Pants - Ann Taylor Loft (only $35 right now!), Jacket - Nordstroms (old), Shoes - DSW, Scarf - Nordstroms (old)

The lip gloss I'm wearing is actually a trade from Vanessa from X-tremely V, we decided that we got the wrong colors, so we swapped. I gave her my really light pink shade and she sent me this gorgeous dark wine color. My mom tried to steal it it's so pretty. So thanks Vanessa for swapping!

Don't forget about my Lash Party I'm having, okay really it's for all Younique products, but I've only tried the 3D Fiber Lashes. If you ever thought fake lashes were too complicated and want longer lashes, you HAVE to get this, seriously! Best stuff ever, and I am not exaggerating!
I have no lashes and this stuff really makes a huge difference.

I'm linking up with some fellow Fall Challengers, so take a peek at what they put together. It's so awesome to see people's different takes on the same outfit.

Feathers and Flowers

I've had this skirt from Loft for a while now, but have never paired it like this before. I'm not entirely sure the scarf goes, but it was comfy and I didn't feel like wearing a necklace, ever feel like that? But I like how the skirt seems like polka dots from afar, but in reality they are little feathers (or what looks like feathers?)

Today is the second to last day to sign up* for the Fall Style Challenge, come join me and 600+ women. Learn more about it here.

and her picture I submitted

2.

We're all set for Halloween at our house, okay we have the outfits and no decorations, but the cute outfits are what counts right?

I love that they are matching. I was going to get Mini Fox a pink pair, but Baby Fox insisted that they match.

3.

Finally Mr. is on board with online shopping obsession, habit love. This makes me so excited, he finally understands. He's been buying a ton of polo shirts trying to figure out a brand that fits him. We've found a few new brands to add to the list, he says that shopping online and getting that little email that says your package is on the way, is like Christmas everyday. Yes he's been getting packages almost everyday.

4.

Love taking him on errands and letting him do stuff like this. He loves it and it gets him to go with me on errands. It's really sad, this mall we went to is in the process of getting a make over, but first they need to get rid of a lot of the tenants, so half of the stores are closed and there hasn't been a food court since we moved here 5 years ago. Hopefully whatever/whenever they upgrade it, it makes this place awesome, it's so close to our we could walk...although right now, there aren't any of my stores in it that I shop at, so I guess that's a good thing.

Such a boy, going the hard way in - through the window of course.

5.

Taylor & Helene are doing a Blogtober14, while I can't promise I can do it everyday...I will participate when I can.

Today's prompt: If I'd won the lottery I would...I'm going to go ahead and assume it's in the millions, like take home of at least 10 million (you know after those pesky taxes and stuff I want at least 10 million), hehe
  • Pay off our house
  • Put money away for our kids college fund
  • Get new cars
  • Travel the world...once the kids get a little older (hey I'm realistic), traveling across the world with a 4 year old and 1 year old? No thanks, plus they're not going to remember, we have to at least start doing this cool stuff when they can remember
  • In the mean time, we'll just go to Hawaii, and go skiing/snowboarding in cool places. I want to snowboard at Whistler, ski in/ski out lodging a must, obviously.
  • But some rental properties, might as well have our money make money for us.
  • Quit my job, but still keep our daycare situation :)
  • Since I don't have a job, find a philanthropy that speaks to my heart.
What would you do with 10 million?

Easy No brainer Outfit for When You Don't Want to Think

Simple and easy for a Tuesday after a long weekend. Easy to grab outfit = perfect. Skirt, t-shirt, necklace, short jean jacket, neutral shoes.

This guy wanted to jump in the pictures, as usual

Speaking of this little guy, here's what happened to his poor face.

Monday after I got home from the gym, Mr. left for the gym and I decided to take the kids to the park before Mini Fox's morning nap. Baby Fox wanted to ride his scooter (seen above). Everything was fine until it wasn't. Baby Fox still hasn't really figured out the breaks yet, so when he wants to stop he tries to jump off and keep running with the scooter till it slows down. NOT the best breaking method. He got going a little too fast for him and tried to jump off, tripped and fell hard!

just around that bend is where he fell
I ran over to him and picked him up, checking his knees, his head was on my shoulder as I was checking out his knees. Then I went to check his hands and see blood running down his fingers, frantically I'm trying to figure out where all the blood is coming from. I see his lip is bloody so I have him open his mouth to see a pool of blood in there. I ask him if he bite his tongue, but he's just crying. I put him down to try and find something to soak up the blood, I was just about the take my shirt off (luckily I had a sports bra on under), but saw a tissue in the cup holder of the stroller. I threw that in his mouth to soak up some blood, and then figure out that he's cut his bottom inside lip really bad, to me it looked like it needed some stitches. I'm trying to carry Baby Fox, push Mini Fox in the stroller and carry the scooter...didn't work. So I put Baby Fox where Mini Fox's feet are and run home. Get a wet paper towel, and put that in his mouth.

So now I need to figure out what to do. I wanted to ask one of our neighbors what she thought, she has 5 kids and I needed a second opinion, plus if I need to go to the ER, she could watch Mini Fox until my parents or Mr. could get there. She wasn't home, but another neighbor (who I'm fairly certain thinks I'm a nut), said he thought it wasn't too bad and that mouths heal really fast. That calmed me down a bit, I went home and called the Pediatrician, and then called my parents to come over and get a second opinion, cause Mr. still wasn't answering his phone. Meanwhile my mom told me to call his dentist (luckily we had just gone on Friday), because it had to do with his mouth. So put in a call to them too. The doctor said, of course, to go into a kids urgent care to have someone look at it. But the pediatric dentist called back and said that we could take a picture of it and send it to her and she could tell us what to do. Which was such a great idea! She looked at it and said she didn't think that he needed to go in, and that mouths heal really quickly. She told me the different colors it would turn and what to expect. Made this Mama feel a little better.

Lessons learned:

1. Pediatric dentist - worth it to find a good one
2. When dealing with something with the mouth, call the dentist
3. Ice Cream fixes all things and will get your kid to continuously let you see the cut in his mouth

This is about 2 hours after it happened: That is a bruise on his chin, see the length of that bruise...the  cut in his mouth mimics that bruise. It's about 3/4 - 1 inch long and maybe 1-2mm wide.

And this the next day. You can see how much it is swollen. He told us that he had to figure out a new way to suck his fingers, resilient I tell ya.

I must love him a lot cause I went swimming when it was only 84° out. Mr. was working and he really wanted to go swimming.

The Girl Next Door

This is the Kimono I got, because Katie said so, and it was back in stock. It's the one that Mr. said he wasn't sure of, but said that it looks good from the front, but wasn't sure about it from the back, and Baby Fox said that it wasn't his favorite. What do they know? I like it and that's all that matters.

Shorts - Target, Top - Old Navy (old), Kimono - Groupdealz, Shoes - Toms, Earrings - Target, Hat - Target

Other Randoms:

If you follow me on IG you might have seen this happening.

That's the neighbor's granddaughter, she likes to talk to us, and I have no idea how Baby Fox knew she was out there...we were in my bedroom and he just walks over to the window and lifts up the shades and there she is. Like a 6th sense thing?

Anyway, they pretty much love talking to each other and they stood her for a good 5 minutes.

The only problem? Baby Fox kept asking where her older sister was, you know the 5 year old. Uh oh, so I sense competition, could mean trouble. It's already starting I thought I had at least 10 more years... Every time Baby Fox walked away from the window she would yell out, Baby Fox?! Where are you?!

It was super cute though, and I'm glad that we get to watch their grandkids grow up. I'll have these to look back on when she asks Baby Fox to Prom.

My First Curling Wand Review

I've been really bad and didn't take an outfit post this week, but found this on my computer and realized I never posted it. So it seems silly to be wearing this outfit when it's hot and humid outside, but hey, if I don't do it now, it will never get on the blog.

I love how the scarf just ties everything together and makes it a bit more dressed up, when in reality I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

I feel like such a model in this one, the wind blowing through my hair, lol.

*I was not compensated or asked to write this review, I'm just sharing something that I really like, no one knows who I am.

Speaking of hair, I bought the Nume curling wand set. Ever heard of it? No? Well I first heard of it from Jen at From Head To Toe in her Top 10 Must Have Hair Products. I had been thinking I wanted a curling wand for a while, but couldn't justify the price, but she had a coupon code for $151 off! So what was $250 was only $99, I figured hey I get 5 curling wands in one, why not?! Guess what? I just checked and her coupon code still works, enter jensummer at checkout. **I tried googling youtube coupon codes for this and a bunch came up, so there's always a coupon code out there to use, just need to find it!

So I ordered it and anxiously waited for it to get here. I was so excited when it showed up!

What it looks like fresh out of the box.

It's like Christmas, I'm so exited!

There are 5 interchangeable wands that comes in this handy case

Even comes with a heat protectant glove, must have, this thing is HOT, my first use I barely brushed the wand against my shoulder and it bubbled up and left a nice little mark.

Here is everything laid out. You get a 32mm, 25mm, 19mm barrel, reverse barrel, which starts from 13mm from the tip to 25mm at the base, and last but not least the pearl (you can guess what Mr. said about this one).

So far I am LOVING them. Granted I have only tried the 3 barrels and not the reverse or pearl.  What I like to do is use the 19mm and then the next day I get a more wavy look. This is actually after I've just used it a few hours ago.

This is I've just washed my hair, let it dry and then I section my hair into 6 pieces, curl with the 19mm and go to bed. When I wake up I comb my fingers through my hair for an awesome look. Here's what it looks like after night 1:

And then I slept on it again and here it is the next day. Still slightly wavy, but totally perfect for a casual day out and about.

So if you are thinking about a curling wand get this one, it's only $99, plus you get a free bottle of Argan Oil. I use that usually on day two when my hair is slightly frizzy, it tames those wild hairs. Not sure if that's how you're supposed to use it, but it works for me!

Let me know if you have a curling wand or are going to get and how it works out for you! I'd love to know.

When I use the other two wands I'll let you know how it works for me.

In case you were wondering why there are wet mark on the pavers next to me...this is why:

There's that pose again

And he's back in the pool!
