The Importance of Accessories

Today I'm going to chose stuff around the neck. I don't typically wear bracelets, only because I work at a desk all day, and the clinking of a bracelet might drive my workmates to the loony bin. I would, however, love to wear bracelets all day, everyday. Because of my lack of wearing them at work, I don't buy them, but I should, so when the time comes I'm armed and ready.

I just got this necklace from Jane.com, it's a knockoff of the Stella and Dot one (shhh, don't tell anyone I cheated). I'm really loving it and wishing that I got it in silver as well...maybe Jane will take pity and offer them again! Else I just might have to pony up and get the Stella and Dot one.

I think this might be my new go to outfit, easy, comfortable, and if I get hot, the jacket comes off and I still look put together.

This is what this outfit would look like with no jewelry, just one simple necklace really changes the outfit doesn't it?

Jewelry can go so many different ways, simple pendant, big statement necklace, small yet simple necklace or just a scarf, I consider that jewelry, cause it's certainly not for warmth when it's 80° out. Just image these outfits without the necklaces? So plain Jane right?

I'm going to have to say teal statement necklace, look at how many different ways I've worn it!

Crazy right? I didn't even know I was going to get so much use out of it when I bought it, but here I am at least 7 outfits later. You can't go wrong! Seriously!

What's your favorite go to piece of jewelry? Do you have something that you love as much as I do?

A Post Full of Firsts

We're on to week 2 of  The Challenge. So far I'm having so much fun doing this, so thank you Alison for getting me out of my comfort zone and giving me easy outfits that I just have to grab in the morning and don't really have to think much about it.

In case you missed the first 2 days, click here. Now onto this weeks outfits.

Day 3:

This is the first time I've ever worn boyfriend jeans. I was really skeptical about them, but bought them from Old Navy for less than $20, so I figured I wasn't wasting too much money if I didn't like them, but turns out I really do! I thought they would make me look super short, but I don't think they do. What do you think?

Boyfriend Jeans - Old Navy, Bright Tank - Target, Sweater - Target, Shoes - Nordstroms, Necklace - Old, but they are everywhere

Most comfortable wedges EVER! Go get a pair right now! She told me too, so I had to listen.
 Day 4

I think this one was the most out of my comfort zone. I mean a striped jacket and my first time wearing a chambray shirt? In the same outfit? I never would have thought to pair this together. Perhaps it was the 4:30am wake up time that in my delirious state I had a stroke of genius or I grabbed the wrong thing, either way I think it worked really well.

Pink Jeans - White House Black Market (Fall Clearance),  Shirt - Target, Jacket - Target, Shoes - DSW (old), Scarf - Old Navy

Day 5

I thought this outfit was ultra comfy and great for a Friday casual work day (oops I'm writing this at work, and apparently I picked a picture with my eyes closed, oops!)

Skinny Jeans - Loft (these are curvy jeans, they are the best!), T-Shirt - Target, Sweater - Target, Shoes - Toms (similar), Bracelet and Necklace - Francesca's Collection (old)

Day 6

I love maxi skirts I think this might be my go-to outfit from now on...super comfortable and you look put together.

Bright Tank - Target, Skirt - Nordstroms, Cropped Jean Jacket - Old Navy, Shoes - Nordstroms (no longer available in this color), Necklace - Old, Bracelets (old)
Thought I would add a cute picture of Mini Fox

Day 7

I think this might be one of my favorites. I love how the cuff of the shirt is rolled over the sweater and the blue necklace, adds just the right amount of statement.

Boyfriend Jeans - Old Navy, Top - Target, Sweater - Target, Shoes - Toms (similar), Necklace - Forever 21 (old), Bracelet - Brighton

Day 8

I think this was my least favorite of this week. Only because I couldn't find accessories that made me feel like this was my own. I was in a rush in the morning and couldn't find anything to offset the pretty teal color of the shirt.  In other news, this was the first time that I rolled a pair of jeans that weren't the boyfriend jeans that were rolled for me. And it was my first time wearing my leopard flats.

Skinny Jeans - Loft, Shirt - Target, Shoes - DSW (No longer available), Necklace - Loft (old)

Baby Fox wanted in with me

Baby Fox wanted to help me take selfies, Mr. wasn't home when I wanted to take these pictures.

See him holding the remote?

Day 9

I thought this outfit was super fun to wear. Maybe next time I'll wear my leopard flats.

White Jeans - Loft, Bright Tank - Target, Cropped Jean Jacket - Target, Shoes - Nordstroms, Scarf - Old Navy

This challenge is definitely pushing me to do things I wouldn't have done on my own, leopard flats (actually my hookerish shoes, I have had them for over 6 years and have worn them once), boyfriend jeans, rolling my jeans, Chambray shirts, jean jackets with jeans, striped blazers with a chambray shirt, the list goes on. I'm excited to see where these outfits take me next!

I had some random stuff to tell you, but the post is getting mega long, so I'll save them for another day :) Hopefully I don't forget them in the mean time!

My Hookerish Shoes

Remember when I told you I was doing this? The list came out on April 4th, and we had 10 days to get everything bought and ready to go. Let me tell you, I had so much fun shopping with Mr. to find everything. Best Anniversary gift EVER! Alison sent that oh so exciting email on Sunday at 5pm and I admit I was super excited and went online at 5pm to see what the first outfit would be. Getting dressed at 4:30am has never been so exciting!

Here is my "haul", minus a few things that I haven't been able to find yet. Who knew finding a neutral flat would be so hard? I'm waiting on my leopard flats in the mail, keeping fingers crossed it goes better than the neutral ones I ordered that didn't work out, boo!

Oops forgot to add in my chambray shirt, can you believe I didn't own one? I am finally a proud owner, but I guess not proud enough to remember it was on the list was I hurriedly pulled everything out of my closet to take this picture.
I know you can't wait, so here are the first two outfits!

Day 1:

The first day included our leopard flats, but since mine haven't come yet I decided to go with my neutral wedges. I do have some leopard heels, but with this outfit it made everything look "hookerish", seriously, it was like who wears those kinds of shoes with that outfit? (see those hookerish shoes in my next outfit, though)

I added a belt and statement necklace in green to try and pull everything together.

Day 2:

I try not to wear jeans to work during the week, so instead of the skinny jeans I decided to go with some slacks, and you know what? I discovered I don't own a pair of black slacks...how crazy is that?! So I had to pair the button up and cardi with my gray pants, while not my favorite, I think it worked.
I sort of felt like a librarian all day, pull my hair in a bun, give me some glasses and there ya go.

Here are those hookerish shoes

I know you want a mega close up of them too.

So far I'm having a ton of fun with this challenge. It gets me excited to get up and get dressed in the morning, and its making me think about pairing things together outside of the box, so Thank you Alison for helping me and my styling challenged self! I'm meeting a ton of great ladies and can't wait to see what the next 19 outfits you have in store for us!

A few of the ladies doing the challenge decided to do a little link party to share with each other how we're styling our new wardrobe, so click on the links below and give them some love!

Mr. takes all of my outfit posts. It's sometimes interesting to see what pictures he takes after he hands the camera back, this is one of them. If you know Mr. he loves taking pictures of my rear, seriously, so many times I'll be going through vacation pictures and see that he's taken a picture of my backside...weirdo or maybe he's just a man who loves his wife's rear...

Finally a Sweater!

It's finally cold enough to wear a sweater without looking like a total nut job! Yay for cooler weather! Hope it stays this time. I have to admit this is my first time pairing a skirt with a sweater and I think I'm liking it for this slightly cooler weather. Gives the perfect balence, not too hot, not to cool. You know because use girls (according to Mr.) has a 2° difference comfort zone.

I love the back of this sweater, it's a zipper, although you can't really tell from this picture.

I would also like to a moment of silence for my shoes...yes, that's right, they've died and gone to shoe heaven, unless I decided to stop being lazy and take it to a shoe repair shop. The stopper on the heel fell off and is now showing metal...yikes, not good for our travertine floors!
