Friday Favorites: Canadian Adventure Part 1

Hi Foxy Friends! I'm actually recapping a trip before several months have passed and then it gets awkward. But I started this blog to remember this time in my life, I need to start actually posting stuff.

Our flight was at 7am, so we were at the airport around 5:30am, Baby Fox (as you can see) was not in the mood to take pictures, he was super tired. Luckily our Aunt and Uncle live about 10 minutes to the airport, so we spent the night at their place the night before, so all we had to do is hop in an Uber and head to the airport.

Not sure how this guy got in there, but it crept Mini Fox out, and she stayed on the opposite side of the seat.

He's taken a nap and in better spirits

Arrived and was greated at the door by Abbie, Deena and Deena's kids with lots of jackets, hats and gloves in hand for us! Boy was it COLD! We went to dinner right away, although it was really lunch for us, but dinner for them, it worked out though. We got back and went swimming right away, the kids had a blast!

Mr. made friends with the cat, they were inseperable...should I be worried?

After the kids went to bed we decided to take a walk and really experience how cold it was. The dogs needed to walk, so we all went.

We tried to take a picture, but it didn't really work out, eh.

Spent the rest of the night chatting, eating the best cheeseball of my life and then we picked up Alison from the airport around 11pm. It was a hug fest and she loved it (read sarcasm here, we're allowed one hug when we see her and one hug when we leave, she puts up with us, but she keeps coming back, so she MUST like the hugs a little). No pictures here...what were we thinking! Oh and Alison is the master packer...take tips from her.

The next morning, Mini Fox wanted to head outside to help feed the dogs, she could NOT wait to a) pet the dogs b) go out in the snow.

Living her dream.

We ate breakfast and then headed outside to tobboganig and Ski-dooing. I don't have nearly enough pictures with Lana, so I told her all the pictures are going to be taken.

That's Mr. right there, off to explore.

Meanwhile my kids learned how to sled.

Then they took a ride on the ski-doo.

Afterwards we headed back to the house for some lunch and Abbie had gone to get her kids from school, and they were so happy to be reunited. It took them a few minutes to warm up to each other, but soon they were attached at the hip. We had brought a few Valentine's for our friends.

A little after lunch we had to leave to get to Waskesiu Lake, but first we stopped to see Abbie's new house being built, so dang cute. Will have to go back and take another picture of these two in the same spot when it's done.

We ended up putting all the guys in one car, then we put the older kids in one car to watch a movie, and then I got to sit with G, she's the cutest.

We stopped at Deena's SUPER generous parents house, and they fed us all dinner. Seriously, the night before, while we were picking up Alison at the airport they said, hey when you stop to get some cross country ski stuff, why don't you eat dinner too, that way you don't have to go out with the 15 of you...so with about 17 hours they threw together a fab dinner for all of us.

We arrived at the Elk Ridge Resort and got settled. Abbie and our family stayed in one cabin, and then everyone else, including Baby Fox stayed over in the other Cabin. The girls were a little hungry after their bath so they got a snack. Hard to get a good picture when food is involved.

Put the girls to bed and then we stayed up and chatted. Girls were doing great sleeping, so we decided to see if we could go see some Northern Lights. First Abbie and I decided to walk outside and about 30 steps outside, we decided it was way too cold and went back to retreive the car and drive around.  But first I had to take a picture with the ice sculpture. It was cold.

We didn't find any lights, but we found a really cool street with no lights, and beautiful trees and stars. We headed back and Abbie took Mr. out to see the same spot, it was so pretty.

The next morning was gorgeous out our window.

Okay so this is getting long and I haven't even gotten to the dog sledding or the ice skating...so we're going to make this a to be continued on Monday! Hope you have a great weekend! We have a full sports schedule, horseback riding, karate, soccer and baseball. Then Mr. is leaving for a trip on Sunday, so I'm taking the kids to the movies. See ya next week!

Packing for an 8 Day Trip With Just a Carry On Luggage

Hi Foxy Friends! Last week I did an unboxing on packing cubes. I was hesitant and wasn't sure if they were really worth it, but let me tell you, worth EVERY PENNY! I decided to really put it to the test when Mr. was leaving for an 8 day business trip, and wanted to take just a carry on. Challenge accepted. This is everything he wanted to fit into his luggage.

Yikes, I was skeptical at first, but holy cow, it worked! I got everything in there, plus we got in his running shoes which was a nice to have but not necessary. He was willing to wear his dress shoes to the gym, haha. Gotta do what you gotta do!

Here is a whole video with how I packed everything

Breakdown in pictures:

In one of the smallest cube we fit 10 pairs of underwear, 7 pairs of dress socks and 2 pairs of workout socks.

In the other small cube, we fit 3 pairs of dress socks and 4 t-shirts.

In the biggest cube we fit 1 t-shirt, 5 polos, 2 pairs of workout shorts, 1 dress shorts, 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of dress pants and two belts. Like what?! That is crazy!

Here it is all packed up. Including a pair of dress shoes and a pair of workout shoes and a toiletry Ziploc.

Holy cow, I'm a believer, everyone NEEDS TO GET SOME! I am going to try and use them for our family vacation, we're taking the bigger check on luggage, we'll see if I get to the weight limit before I fill it up, but we'll see! Our goal is to use one checked luggage and maybe one carry on roller bag for a family of 4 for a 10 day trip. Well see how it works out, stay tuned for that!

Packing Cube Unboxing

Hi Foxy Friends! I finally decided to jump on the packing cube train. I had been debating whether or not to get them, but with our trip coming up and we'll be gone for a while, I decided to go for it. I did a full unboxing for you. And will show you how I put it all together in the end and my final thoughts. So stay tuned!

These are the ones I ended up getting, but they have so many different shapes and sizes and different size sets that you can buy. I ended up buying a set of 6, 2 of each size so that we could all share our sets. If we need more we'll get more, but right now I only bought 2 sets. We'll see how it goes!

First thoughts:

Stitching and construction was nice, didn't feel cheap.

Liked the mesh top so you can see what's inside. Mini Fox and I are sharing a set, so it will be nice to quickly see who's is who.

The zipper feels like it's going to hold up with you pull it shut with all of your stuff in it.

Concern:

So I can get more stuff in our luggage, but I'm thinking, do I need to? We have such big luggage and I almost always come close to the weight limit...this might make that worse! But we'll see! I'll let you know!

If you want to see my unboxing, it's a quick 5 minutes video, click here.

Let's Looks At: What's In Your Suitecase

Linking up with Shay and Erica for their Let's Look At series, see all previous posts here.

I'm so excited, we're going on vacation in less than a month! Here is what we're planning on bringing with us to HAWAII!!!

| ONE |  Snorkel Set

Yes it takes up space in the suitcase, but we would much rather have our own than borrow one, the thought of putting my mouth on something someone else has...shivers.

| TWO | Swim Suits

I've showed you in this post which swim suits I bought for the season. I'm loving all of them!

1- Top/Bottom / 2 /3 / 4 - Top/Bottom

| THREE | Swim Suit Cover Ups

I am wearing swim suit #1 from above in these pictures.

One / Two / Three

| FOUR |  Floppy Hat

I personally have this hat, but it's no longer available, so this one is a close second. I also like a good baseball cap that looks like its been through it all, but hasn't...this brand has a lot of good ones.

| FIVE | Sun Screen

Of course what's going into the sun without some sunscreen. This is my favorite for the face.

And I like this for the whole body.

| SIX | The kids need some new suits, so I got them these:

I like to try and get the kids bright colored things so I can see them easier when we are in a public pool.

Boy: Trunks

I also bought these flip flops and this rash guard

Girl: Suit / Rash Guard

I might have also gotten girl this bathing suit and these flip flops.

| SEVEN | Packing Cubes

I'm not sure about these, but they have been in my later cart for a few months, not sure if I should do it or not. When we pack our bags...okay when I pack our bags, I always distribute everyones clothes into both suitcases, especially if we are checking our luggage...perhaps I will divide up the clothes into days instead of one persons belongings together...hmmm...that's a thought...so how do you use your packing cubes?

These have patterns which I like, what's not to like about foxes? hehe.

These have over 1000 4.5 star reviews and comes with three laundry bags, which I really like...

These come with more packing bags and also have really good reviews.

What to do what to do...HELP! I have a few more weeks to decide! But wait...this one has almost 3000 5 star reviews, now that is saying something...and now you can see why I haven't actually bought any yet.

| EIGHT | Kindle

Gone are the days when you bring 5 books with you, now I have the Kindle. As much as I miss having a real book, I do like the ease of having a Kindle.

| NINE |  iPad with Case

Of course for the long flights we have the iPad and a kid friendly case.

| TEN |  Flowy Dress

I bought this dress on Amazon, and it was such a great price and it's perfect for those warm Hawaiian nights. When I showed my friends this dress, two of them bought it within the week and both love it.
