I Can Officially Say I have Lots of Color in My Closet

In case you're new Alison decided to do a Summer Style Me and of course I jumped on board. Here's my first two outfits. Now on to the second week of outfits.

I was really bad at getting pictures this week. I wore the outfits, but things happened and I didn't get details photos of all the outfits. Maybe this week...anyway, here's the breakdown for ya.

Day 3

You know I think I need to go the Jean Jacket Anonymous (JJA), seriously, it's my new go to jacket and I wonder, what the heck did I do before I bought these 3 months ago?!

Shirt - Old Navy (on Clearance), Skirt - Loft (super mega old), Jean Jacket - Old Navy, Shoes - Nordstroms, necklace - Jane.com (Stella and Dot Kimberly Necklace knockoff)

And then Mr. took one of my prepping my outfit before the shoot began.

Day 4

Wow the camera angle makes me look like I have mega short legs...oh wait, I do. I was going for a casual look, it was my first time wearing non work out tennis shoes, I sort of love them. I think I might need to get the real thing, instead of the Target version.

I also think the rubber band around my wrist adds something to the outfit don't you?

Tee Shirt - Target,  Pants - Old Navy (Similar), Shoes - Target (On clearance right now for $11.88), Scarf - Groopdealz

 Day 5

These are my first pair of jean shorts since I was probably in Junior High...crazy right? I have no idea why I avoided them? I guess I'm khaki/white shorts type of girl? Sort of loving this whole outfit.

Shirt - Nordstroms, Shorts - Target, Sandals - Target (not available), Braclets - Forever 21 (old), Earrings - Groopdealz

Day 6

i took Baby Fox to a birthday party at a museum, and then right after we went to dinner at a friends, so I forgot to take an outfit post, but it was a pretty simple outfit.

Shirt - Target,  Shorts - Target, Shoes - Target, Purse - DSW on clearance (yes I realize it doesn't match)
Day 7

Again we went out to dinner with my family and took some quick pictures with my iPhone outside of the restaurant.

Tank - Target, Skirt - Target, Sweater - Target, Shoes - Target (not available). Talk about walking ad for Target

Gotta love the post baby new hair growth

Baby Fox wanted to pose with me

Day 8

White Tee - Target, Boyfriend Jeans - Old Navy, Sweater - Nordstroms, Shoes - Toms (similar), Necklace - Jane.com

Day 9

Once again I need JJA - But it was cold when I left for work, what else is a girl to do by put one her trusty JJ?

Top - Old Navy (Old), Pink Jeans - White House Black Market (old), Jean Jacket - Old Navy, Shoes - Norstroms, Belt - Target, Necklace - Groopdealz

Loving this color comb!

So excited, on Friday I'm getting my haircut, don't think I'll short, I think I just want a trim, get rid of some of these spit ends. Last time I went to get my hair cut was just before Mini Fox was born so it's been at least 10 months, it's about time right?!

How often do you get your hair cut?

Once or twice a year (if I'm lucky and remember to make an appointment. When my hair is short I go in more regular to get maintenance done, but when it's long it's easy to just forget about it)

Change

Change. Topic of today.

What I thought about when I went to sleep last night.

What I was thinking of when I woke up.

I've made Baby Fox's baby food from the time he was 6 months to the present. Yes he still eats it, it's good, I would eat it. We figure he's getting veggies, whatever.

Mini Fox is eating that same food.

Last night I had rice and stir fry veggies, Baby Fox sat in my chair and ate everything that I ate with me, with a fork.

Taken on Friday when we first had it, last night it was the only thing he ate, Friday he started with pasta and saw mine and wanted that instead.
I told him that if he wanted to eat my food, he couldn't use his hands, he followed directions and only used a fork. We fit on the same chair perfectly, he eats left handed I eat right handed, perfect match.

He ate the broccoli, willingly and we didn't have to bribe him...okay that's a lie, I told him if he took a bite of broccoli he could take two bites of rice instead of the usual 1 bite of rice, 1 bite of veggies.

He's starting to eat what we eat, I'm loving it. Still I make him something different 95% of the time, but I'll take it!

We're night potty training...yikes that's a big adjustment, loving the no diapers, not loving the constant accidents, but the last couple of nights have been okay. Change, in routine, waking him up twice a night to go to the bathroom, please tell me they eventually wake themselves up...it happens right? When do we stop going in to wake him up? More change.

Crazy kids likes sleeping with long sleeve shirts, pants and socks, even when it's really hot out. The green blanket is for easy clean up for middle of the night. I have it folded in 4, so that it doesn't reach the sheet, easier to take off blanket than to change the sheet...

Let's talk about this girl:

She's eating more and more food, we're feeding her pureed veggies and then give her what we eat too, letting her try everything, she loves it all. Finally a kid that eats!

She's drinking less milk, not sure how much though. She's refusing some of her bottles. But not food.

Just when we think we have it figured out it changes.

Which bottle do we drop? What did we do with Baby Fox, I can't remember...go back to previous blog posts...so glad I wrote those up way back when (private blog for just family/ my baby books for the kids).

Just seems like everything is changing so quickly, they are growing up so fast. Change is good, but hard to adjust to when they move at lightening speed and I'm always trying to catch up. Luckily they are pretty patient and are always waiting for me to catch up.

Change is good. I keep telling myself that, change is good. They're growing up to be healthy, independent little people.

So what's been changing in your life?

Another Fun One For the Books

Happy Monday, or is it? I'm tired, lol.

Anyway, the weekend started out pretty rocky, Mini Fox had a tough time teething...I was up with her on Wednesday night and then Thursday night was another rough one, first Baby Fox woke up around midnight, then baby girl was up at 12:30 till 3am, when we finally got some sleep. Thankfully! I think the worst is over and the rest of the weekend was pretty good.

my mouth is doing something really weird, it's probably 2am?

But Friday I rallied and went out for a park playdate with some friends.

Mini Fox is sleeping over there on the right

Baby Fox and his bestie were chasing this little girl around, we're in trouble! We were just about to leave and Baby Fox was playing with a large ball and was chasing it around and it ended up over near a grassy area, and guess what? It was muddy, and he slipped and fell and pretty much got his whole backside muddy...like couldn't see any skin type of muddy. He was devestated and crying and luckily I happened to have an extra set of clothes with me, which I hardly EVER do. I would have taken a picture had he not been in such a panic.

After nap time Baby Fox wanted to go swimming, Mini Fox has a little cough so I didn't want her to get in...but she really wanted to, I wanted to say yes, but alas I had to actually parent.

Brother coming over to visit and say hi.

Love these pigtails, can't get enough

Saturday was a busy day, aren't they all? We went to yet ANOTHER birthday party. This time at a Children's Museum, Baby Fox had a blast.

Learning how gears work, and checking me out at the grocery store

Driving a bus, we did this several times, and watching the train set go round and round

Then we both got eaten by a lion...Baby Fox wouldn't get much closer than this.

Standing with the trains, Baby Fox loved it. They let us go inside of of them, and then he wanted to know if we could go through all of them.

The birthday kids

Then we headed to a friends and made these, can you guess what it is?

If you guess homemade Twinkies then you would be correct! So after several tastings we decided that the recipe we used (that came on the pan) isn't for us. We did however nail the filling. Once we figure out the perfect cake part, I'll let you guys know.

Sunday was pretty laid back. Baby Fox woke up dry from overnight (with us going in there twice to take him to the bathroom) so we celebrated with pancakes. He loves helping me "cook"

Then we watched some Ice Age

My sister came over for a swim lesson, although next time we're just going to tell him that she's coming over for swimming...

Mini Fox sat outside and ate lunch and watched in style - PJ's and sunnies

Baby Fox ate some cherries with Daddy. Cause everyone eat cherries with their party hat on right? And that chair on the couch over there...Baby Fox put it over there cause it's "dangerous" for Mini Fox (aka he doesn't want her playing with his stuff)

I worked on some party decorations for Baby Fox's 1/2 birthday this weekend.

And then we headed out to dinner with my parents. You know you have good kids when you go to a fancier restaurant and they sit there for 2 hours without much fuss.

Daddy got them dressed and then Baby Fox says, "PHOTOSHOOT!" and grabbed his sister, so cute!

Love them!

Mom enjoying her drink.

Baby Fox helping to feed Mini Fox

Baby Fox wanted to stand in the rocks and no one else did, so it looks like we're two different families in the same picture, haha.

This week is going to be full of getting ready for Baby Fox's party this weekend. I always tell myself I'm not going to be last minute, but I always am...one day...maybe for Mini Fox's first birthday I'll be more on top of it? I have all summer...which is the problem, I keep saying, I have one more week...until I don't.

How was your weekend? What was your favorite part?

My favorite part was our lazy Sunday morning.

Don't Buy Greeting Cards Any More - Use a Card Journal

I know you're wondering what I got Mr. for Father's Day. Truth be told, I was working from home the other day and I told him he needed a new pair of headphones. He agreed and said he was thinking of getting a pair, and since I didn't know what to do for Father's Day I told him to get them and that could be his Father's Day gift. Bam, done.

But this post isn't about that, it's about the cute craft we did for him.

You know all those Hallmark Greeting cards you spend a ridiculous amount of money on? Yea we buy them for everything, sometimes costing more than $5! And each year, I date it and put it in a bag and forget about it...Birthdays the same thing. I get one from me and then one from the kids. That's almost $10 in just cards. You know I can't remember where I saw it, I think one of my friends posted a picture on FB? I honestly can't remember, but I loved the idea and ran with it.

I went to Barnes and Nobel and bought this for about $10, so the cost of about 2 cards, I bought him a journal. Originally I thought I wanted non-lined paper, but then thought, when the kids get older and they can write, it might be nice to have some lines, plus it's hard to find a cute journal that's completely blank.

How to make a Card Journal in two easy steps:

Step 1: Buy a journal

Step 2:

Start writing and decorating. Isn't that easy?

Each holiday can be different, for Father's Day I decided to ask Baby Fox a few questions:

I let him decorate a few pages, I mean it his book to give Daddy, he wanted stickers.

Each time we do this I'm going to include a picture of the kids, so that we remember what they looked like when we did that particular entry. Baby Fox picked out the picture. It's of him at a air museum and Mr. is tossing him in the air, he loved it. He said it was his favorite.

Now onto Mini Fox. Since she can't write or talk, her pages were easier, but part of the greatness of this project is that as they get older they're pictures will probably get better and it's going to be a great way to see them evolve and see how their personalities change over time.

Now you know you want to go out and do this, it's so much fun and I think it will be fun to look back on this 10 years from now and see what they did. I'm loving this project so much!
