Friday Favorite #43

Happy Friday! Although it was a short week, coming back from vacation is always hard! Here are some of my favorite this week.

Getting our Disneyland passes! I've always wanted one, so excited to take the kids, especially having some dates with Baby Fox, he's so fun to share that experience with.

They got a book reader for Mini Fox's birthday and they convinced it's an iPad, it's super cute because they always hear people have them, and they really think this is called an iPad, when in reality it has 16 buttons and can read 8 books.

Love that Mr. loves to wear Mini Fox, super cute watching him and her together, they have special Father/Daughter bond that I had with my Dad and I am loving watching it all happen.

The hair challenge!

I finished it and I think I did pretty great, I'm thinking I might try a hair year...like try a different hair style every week for a year...so that's 52 hair styles...thinking I'm going to start it in the new year...stay tuned to see if I actually do it, although now that I've said it out loud on the blog, it's sort of set in stone right? That's how this blogging thing works right?

I even made a video of all of the styles, but only have 2 done so far.

The Twisted Half Updo (my second favorite style of the week)
The Braided Crown (although I guess I didn't hit record on the front camera so I only have the back camera footage, doh!)
And of course how can I not mention Mini Fox's birthday party. It was really a labor of love, but the look on Mini Fox's face was really priceless. Now to figure out the next party and the next theme....I love a good theme...and lots of cricut work!

My favorite picture of the whole week:

I love how it's just pure joy and love in this picture, he doesn't think anyone is taking a picture of him, and it's just her and him. Love, love, love.

Happy weekend! Mr. is studying all weekend, so I'm going to try and keep the kids busy, and maybe find our family photo outfits. Speaking of which, have you guys found your outfits? I need some assistance! Help!

Minnie Mouse Party

I lied, I told you I would show you Mini Fox's birthday party on Tuesday, when in fact I was too busy catching up with work to even think about it. So you get it for Thursday instead :)

We'll start with the above picture, I made that wreath (tutorial coming soon), added a Minnie Mouse head and bow and called it a day (okay it really took me about 4 hours to do this, over several days).

When you walked into the house you saw the big Minnie Banner. I think it turned out fantastic. I decided since her 1st birthday party was all red and black polka dots that I would make this Minnie the pink version. Plus it's Mini Fox's favorite color.

I went to Michael's and found 4 different pink printed patterns and bought a bunch of every kind so I could use those in all of my crafts. I used my Cricut (which I think everyone should go and get right this minute! The one I linked is the most recent model, I have one that is about 5 years old)

By the time I took pictures of the food table everyone had eaten already, oops, so ignore the half eaten food. I decided to make some cute signs for the food, because we all know food tastes better when there is a cute sign to go with it.

Some close ups of the food signs.

What's a pool party without some drinks? Isn't that string of Minnie heads so cute? My sister-in-law came up with that. I got Cricut crazy and just kept cutting out Minnie heads and bows...so I had a ton of them just laying around waiting to be used.

Close up of the Minnie center pieces I made, tutorial coming at a later date (of course, but when I do have it, I'll come back and link it for you).

Of course I had to go crazy with the Minnie desserts right? There are so many out there that are super fun to make. I have never made cakepops before, so of course I had to do it for her party right? I think they came out super cute.

I actually didn't put together a tutorial, started to get lazy towards the end. But I do have to say if you ever try to make them, definitely, definitely use Candiquik - you can find it at Vons, or check here for a location near you. It's so smooth and WAY easier to use then the Wiltons candy melts you can get at Michaels. Trust me these will make making cake pops SO Much easier and faster!

For the bows, I actually bought fondant at Micheal's and then bought this* silicone bow maker, life changing, I just want to go around and make bows, it's so easy. The finished product, I actually used the cellophane type wrapping, you know the kind that comes on a roll like wrapping paper? I just cut into squares and then tied the ribbon around it, since they have ears, the wrappers I bought didn't fit them. I used an amazon box, wrapped it and poked holes in it to hold them, next time I'll space them out farther.

Another dessert I made, I used this basic recipe for Homemade Oreo Cookies, and added some Oreo Cookies for ears and then big heart sprinkles for a bow (found at Michael's - seriously what isn't there?), how cute are they?

All set up, super cute, and everyone remembered them from our party a couple of years ago and they were the first things to go, I wish I had made more, oh well!

And then I had to do just one more thing, some Minnie Mouse cupcakes to round out the dessert table. Then I made a few mini cupcakes too, only because I thought most people like mini cupcakes so they feel like they're not eating a huge dessert, plus I bought those cute little Minnie things to stick on the top.

Super cute right? I made those cupcake wrappers with my Cricut, I found a template online and just used that, they were super long, but it worked out.

The last thing I made were these cute things. Actually Mr. bought the fan part for my birthday and I thought, hey I could add a Minnie head and call it a day. I put a Minnie head on both sides, didn't want side to feel left out.

I did the same for the streamers he bought to put up for my birthday, just added a Minnie head and called it a day.

And then I also bought these* things, I didn't get a picture of it, but they were out in the tent in the back yard. You can sort of see them in this picture.

I got this center piece kit for the table in the Living room, which of course I didn't take a picture of.

I also bought this scene, but only used the Minnie Mouse of things.

I'm so sad I didn't take a picture of the thank yous, they were so cute. Of course I used the Circuit and cut out Minnie head with a thank you in the middle. Boo! But I did make these little Minnie Tulle ears for all of the little girls. They turned out really cute.

And that my friends is everything I did for Mini Fox's Minnie Mouse party. She thoroughly enjoyed her cupcake and getting sung to.

One of my favorite pictures!

After she was done she was pretty much covered from head to toe in cupcake, we took her upstairs to give her a bath, but she wanted to swim some more, so we washed off the crumbs and she went swimming for another 30 minutes.

No fear this one.

Of course we didn't get any pictures of the four of us, or even just of Mr. Mini and Me...darn. Oh well, next time right? I keep saying I'll get better at taking pictures, but I never am. One day, one day.

Hair Challenge Results

Happy Hump Day! Today Vanessa and I are posting the results to our hair challenge! I ended up doing 6 days of the hair challenge. Since it was party week (a term lovingly deemed/made-up by Mr. - means a week of he doesn't see me because I am crafting my butt off the week of the party), I didn't have time to get all the video's edited. I did edit some of them however. So I'll post them as I get them done, deal?

I thought I would start easy on Day 1, I tried to follow this video.

I thought it came out really cute, but looked nothing like the video. I think I just need a LOT of practice. This was the first video I edited, so you get to see how I did this look first :)

Day 2, I got a little more creative, not sure why I was feeling so brave, but I wanted to do a halo braid. Crazy right? For only day 2? But I thought it turned out great and have done this style two more times in the past week! I got so many compliments on it. Unfortunately I somehow lost the front facing video, so I only had the back of my head. Of course it was for a video that I really wanted to show you! But, I did do a quick video of the back of my head so you can see how  I did this look.

Day 3 was date night with Mr. so I decided to do another updo. Shoot should have saved this one for that night. Oh well! Apparently I can take an in focus picture for this one. These were the best, oops!

Day 4 we didn't have a lot going on so I thought I would do something simple...so yea, this was not simple and looks NOTHING like the picture. I do however think I know what I did wrong, I was tightening the braid and pushing it up like she was saying. This is definitely my least favorite hair do of the week. Plus Mr. doesn't really like my hair up...at all, he likes it long and down, such a typical guy right?

Day 5 I really just wanted to try this hair style out to see how it worked. I can see from the picture that I did one of the loops the wrong way, oops. But you can see how it would look if that one loop was facing the other direction. Cute, but really for a date night or girls night out, since a side ponytail with kids just isn't my thing. I ended up taking it out like an hour later, I couldn't handle it.

Day 6 last day. It was about 104 degrees out and I had a ton of errands to get done for the party, so I did my trusty messy bun with my favorite side braid.  Quick easy and off my back and it's not a pony tail...win in my book.

I did do a video for each of these hair styles, hopefully by next week, I'll have all of them done for you, so if you wanted to actually see a normal person who can't do their own hair do it. The beauty Youtubers make it look SO easy...it's not!

So it's your turn? How did you do on your hair challenge? Did you do anything different? Tell us what you did in the comments below or link up with us! So happy to have you.

What was your favorite style of the week?

Also don't forget Alison is doing her Fall Challenge! Don't forget to sign up*, it's going to be a blast, plus as soon as you sign up you get the list and can start shopping. I'm going to see if I can only add 1 or 2 pieces to complete my Fall wardrobe...wish me luck! I can do it!

Soccer And A Party

Happy Monday! Still on vacation, and decided last minute to take a trip to Disneyland, but thought I would do a quick recap in pictures of our weekend.

Friday after school I took Baby Fox to Chuck E Cheese. I told him we could spend $5 and he had a blast for 40 minutes!

Saturday was Baby Fox's first soccer game.

2-4-6-8 Who do we appreciate...

One sweaty, tired but very happy boy.

After game snacks

Sunday was Mini Fox's birthday party! I'll do a full recap tomorrow, but here's a sneak peak.

I stayed up way too late every night preparing, but the look on Mini Fox's face when she saw all the decorations up, worth every single late night last week!

Hope you had a great weekend, I'm off to enjoy my last day of vacation.
