Favorite Places To Cool Off

Happy Monday Foxy Friends! Today we are off at Legoland, hopefully we won't need to cool off too much. Haha but if we did, a fun place to cool off at Legoland is the boat building station. They have base boats that you can decorate and then race down the "river", the kids get soaked and have a blast, but it's under the shade. Perfect for the kids to get a little wet and have a ton of fun.

Other things to do, find a splash pad, they are awesome and can provide hours of entertainment. We have a few near us, all of them are free, busy but free. Some of them you have to know someone in the community to get in, but usually it's not hard to find a friend.

This is by far the coolest one by us. It's open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, hours of fun for the kids!

Then there is always our gym pool, it's super fun, and Baby Fox is This Close to being tall enough to go down the slide. T here is also a small splash pad there too, but not nearly to the scale as the one above!

And it's always fun to go bowling, we took the kids for the first time this year and they LOVED it.

It's pretty cool, they have electric side bumpers now, so now more paying money for them to blow up the ones in the gutters, they just pop up if that person needs it. Plus they have a ramp for the kids to slide their balls down. So fun.

P.S. I may or may not own my own bowling ball and shoes.

Then you can't forget about the bazillion play places that have come around lately. Even if they are busy, it's air conditioned and the kids love it and run around and you can mostly talk to your friends.

I know ziplining, so fun right?!

Alright that's all I have for you. What do you have near you that you like to do to cool off. I didn't include our own pool, because I'm sure you'll all sick of seeing it. Thought I would share some new things!

Now go check out some of the other California Mama's and see how they like to cool off!

Blush Pants And A Boat Shirt

Hello Foxy Friends. I think that this week is going to be a long one, and I'm only working 3 days this week. Today is another week of The Blended Blog fashion link up. Thank you for continuing to link up with us and make this link up a success. I'm also linking up with with Shay, Mel and Sheaffer for a little What's Up Wednesday.

What I'm wearing:

Last week I showed you a new hair tutorial how to do this style. But I never showed you the whole outfit. This is my new favorite outfit. I bought everything while I was in Canada and for the life of me can't remember the name. Reitmans maybe? Canadian friends who were with me, help me out. I had been looking for a pair of blush jeans for forever, and finally found them! I just have to get them hemmed a little and I'm all set to go.

If you want to know how I did this hair style, see this easy tutorial here.

What we're eating this week:

A lot of party leftovers...Mr. is over it, I'm not quite there yet. I sort of like left overs, don't have to think about meal time and you just grab and go.

What I'm reminiscing about:

I saw this picture on FB, and it is just too cute...they were so small!

While we are in June 2015 folder...

Now Mini Fox has inherited these same goggles.

What I'm loving:

Summer time means pool time and bbq's with family and friends.

What we've been up to:

Baby Fox had his birthday party over the weekend, we were knee deep in all things Minion. Don't worry I tried to record as much as I could of things that I DIY'd. Coming as soon as I can get my act together.

What I'm dreading:

The heat that is approaching...NOOOOO!!!!

What I'm working on:

Now that Baby Fox's birthday party is out of the way, onto planning Mini Fox's party. She says she wants a Frozen party...we'll see, but for now, that's what the plan is.

What I'm excited about:

All of our summer plans. I think the days are going to pass quickly and before we know it school is going to be starting again.

What I'm watching/reading:

Okay so I started reading Before I Fall, and have yet to finish it. I really need to do what Shaunacey and Nicole did and just listen to it on my phone while I'm doing other things.

Mr. and I have been watching Travelers on Netflix. We really liked it, and can't wait for next season to start.

We also just finished the first season of Handmaids Tale, wow, what a good series. I heard that the book was equally good too. I can't wait for next season, but I think we're going to have to wait until summer of 2018.

We also just picked up Arrow, we've watched the first few episodes, I really like, Mr. thinks that it's just okay, but we're going to keep watching. We have 5 seasons to get through.

What I'm listening to:

Unfortunately just what's on the radio, so top 40.

What I'm doing this weekend:

We are having friends over to go swimming, provided it's not cold, meaning 70°, too cold to swim in that temp for us Southern California people. Maybe we'll go bowling instead and then come back and BBQ at our house afterwards. We'll see. Sunday is a much needed rest day, oh and I'm getting my hair cut, yay!

What I'm looking forward to next month:

We have a trip to Sequoia planned with my brother and sister-in-law, really excited about that.

Bonus Question: What's your favorite July 4th Tradition

Every year we go to my cousin's on July 3rd to decorate our bikes/scooters and then on the 4th there is a bike parade in her community. Then we go to my aunt and uncles house for swimming and Taco man (at least he last few years) and then head over to the fireworks. I talk about our 4th of July traditions here.

Waiting for fireworks.

Now link up your fashion posts below and show us what you've been wearing!

Patriotic Wreath

Hello Foxy Friends! I finally found some time to put together this wreath that I have been wanting to do for years! I finally bite the bullet and ordered the stars and strips burlap off of Amazon...I'm so happy I did, since I couldn't find it in store anywhere! Anyway, let's get straight to business.

*Some of the links are affiliate links and I will  either receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you click on it or if you make a purchase from one of these links, I may also receive a commission on the sale of the product. By purchasing through Foxy's Domestic Side, you're helping me to continue creating fun things for this space.

Things You'll Need:

1 Wire Wreath
1 Navy Blue Star Burlap
3 Strip Burlap ribbon rolls.
Floral Wire
American Sign (or any sign you want to use) - I find that you have to actually go to a store to find this, I almost always go to Hobby Lobby

Directions:

Step 1:

You need a wire wreath, mine was a 16" wreath, you can use any size wreath that you want. Start with the star burlap and start to weave in and out of the wreath frame. See this tutorial on how to do that.

Fluff the star burlap once your have completed weaving it in the wire wreath.

Blue Star Burlap

Step 2:

Now continue the wreath with your red strip burlap.

Not fluffed red burlap.

Fluffed red burlap, huge difference right?

Memorial Day

Step 3:

Add the sign to the middle of your wreath.

Memorial Day Wreath

Step 4:

Put on door hanger on your front door.

Labor Day Decorations

 Patriotic Wreath

I put together a video showing you how I did this, cause sometimes watching something makes it so much easier to understand the process.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me!

Summer Photo Tips

Hey Foxy Friends. Today we're back with some more Summer fun. This time we're talking about Summer photo tips. If you're hopping over from Nicole's blog, welcome. I'm going to leave all of the professional tips to Nicole. My tip is going to be short and sweet. One of my pet peeves of the iPhone or phone pictures is when people have fuzzy pictures like this. Is this how some of your pictures turn out?

All you have to do to fix this problem, clean the lens. I took a picture of me and my mom and it was clear and all I had to do to get this blurry picture is touch my phone to my face with the make up and it made it that fuzzy picture. Wipe off the camera when you see this and you'll get this picture.

So next time you have a fuzzy picture, think of this, whip off the lens and snap your beautifully crisp photo.

Now go hop on over the Shelly's blog to see what photo tips she has for you.

Friday Favorites #122

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! I decided to take most of today off, woo hoo! Going to work from home a little in the morning and then take the rest of the day off to prepare for Baby Fox's half birthday party and take Mini Fox to her first dress rehearsal for her ballet recital. So excited to see her in her cute little costume. Expect lots of pictures next week. Onto my Friday Favorites!

In case you missed it on the blog this week.

Monday: 4th of July Target Haul
Tuesday:  Tuesday Thoughts
Wednesday: Two Summer Hair Styles
Thursday: CaseApp Review <- Win a free phone or ipad case, go enter there

Here's another hair tutorial I did this week too.

Last Friday was Baby Fox's last day of Kindergarten. He did fantastic and he is so excited to start 1st grade.  He obliged and took this photo for me.

Mr. was the one who dropped him off, because this little lady was still sleeping. So when she woke up she got some Daddy and Mommy time on her own and we went to get some donuts. We just found this place, thanks to my dad and it has THE BEST DONUTS EVER! See the line there, we went about 9am on Friday...line out the door. Must be good right?

Then we picked this guy up a couple of hours later, and he had a great last day of school, he even got an emoji ball.

We also let the kids decide what they want to do to celebrate their last day of school. Baby Fox said he wanted to get In and Out and have a picnic at the park and ride his bike, so that's exactly what we did...the kids did great considering it was 91° out.

Then we took this girl to her very last dance class of the season. We're taking the summer off because we have so many weekends away it just doesn't make sense. But they were showcasing what they have been working on. And what they're going to do at the dance recital tomorrow. Her outfit is so dang cute, I can't even handle it!

Originally Baby Fox wanted to go out to dinner, but since lunch was a little on the late side, he decided that he wanted to go swimming instead. Shhh...don't tell Mr. I posted this, he said this isn't going on the blog is it?

Saturday, we headed to do our gym routine and then when we got back we had some friends over for some swimming and dinner. It was really fun, I just love these people.

Sunday was Father's Day and we pretty much did everything that Mr. wanted. I forgot to take pictures of dinner, darn it. Oh well, it was this Honey Lime Shrimp and it didn't disappoint. He also wanted Carrot Cake, so Mini Fox helped me with that.

And of course more swimming, my kids are going to turn into fish soon. But they love every second of it and Mini Fox is really getting much better. One of Mr.'s wishes was for me to go in, so I got in with the kids, they loved it.

What's a family diner without a selfie? It's not that's what it is. My dad, back there waving the camera, such a dork. I love that Baby Fox is trying to do bunny ears on me and that Mini Fox can't even put down her avocado to take a picture.

It was a great weekend celebrating and of course, just like Mother's Day, I forgot to get a picture with Mr. and the kids, darn. One of these years I'm going to remember.

Shelly from Queen In Between was over on The Blended Blog with her very first post as a contributor this week sharing some clean eating recipes. She shared this chicken salad...yum! Has all of my favorite things in it, chicken, avocado and bacon. Anything with bacon is delicious right?

Cornia has a great thought about capsule wardrobes. I'm always so hesitant because of not wanting to get rid of what I already have, but she put it in a good way. Create capsule wardrobes with what you have, so you're essentially creating mini capsules from what you have, so you really use what is in your closet. She's starting a 5x5 challenge, 5 pieces, 5 outfits. I won't be joining in this time, but I'm going to try this soon!

I was introduced to Alyssa from Alyssa Goes Bang through P!inky, and I just loved her article about real life in social media and just life in general.

Who else is super pumped about this movie? This really isn't the traditional trailer, but we do get some glimpses into some of the scenes. Can't wait till December, who's coming with me?!

I never really followed Jacyln Hill, but she is coming out (releases tomorrow) with her a collab palette with Morphe, which is so awesome. It took her two years to come up with all of the colors in it and it is absolutely gorgeous. Anyway, not the reason I'm showing you this video. She has an awesome tip at 6:20, where she uses translucent powder to help protect her foundation she's already applied from fallout, and to help create that sharp line with her eye shadow. You know how some people use tape? She uses this technique and it's awesome, so trying this out! Okay so her palette went on sale on Wednesday at 8am and you better believe that another friend and mine went in and each got one...I can't wait to get it!

Okay, you HAVE to see this girl in action, not only is she trying to bring back ventriloquy, she is freakin' amazing singer while doing it! How is that even possible?! She will blow you away. Simon even gave her the golden buzzer, now that is saying something!

So what are you up to this weekend, we have a really full weekend, ballet recital, half birthday party, LEGOLAND on Monday and my MIL is visiting, and then after she leaves my cousins are staying with us for a night. I might need Tuesday off too to recover from this long weekend. But at least I know it will be fun!
