Easter Traditions

Another month with Lizzie , Sierra , Danielle , Emily, and Lindsay for Girl Chat...I love this link up and I hope you join in too!  This month we're talking Easter Traditions.

Actually I have to admit we don't have that man round our parts. I'm not sure why. Baby Fox is 6 and we have yet to die Easter Eggs, I think I always thought it was sort of dumb? Even as a kid I didn't really want to do it, so we've never carried on that tradition. Although this year, I did buy an Easter egg dying kit...so we'll see if we actually use it. I have 3 days to figure it out.

My number 1 Easter tradition is buying Easter clothes. I think this is the first year that I haven't bought the boys anything. I figure they can wear something they already have. Baby Fox has so many button down shirts of which he only wears to church, he doesn't need any more. Of course I bought something for Mini Fox, this is what I bought, which I show cased in my Spring wedding outfits post. That being said I had a few choices for Easter Sunday this year. I bought this dress, verdict is still out. Not sure if it's completely see through or not, I have been getting home after dark so I can't tell. I guess we'll find out soon enough. If that doesn't work out, I think I'm going to go with this outfit.

Here is a link on how I curl my hair.

Cause what girl doesn't like a twirly skirt?

We started the tradition of leaving empty Easter baskets outside of the Easter Bunny to fill because I want to be able to keep the same Easter baskets each year. We had to come up with something so that we could keep resuing them. We told the kids that you leave it outside and that the Easter Bunny knows when you're at church and comes during that time. It worked last year, hoping it works again this year. Of course we don't have pictures, but I do have pictures of the baskets filled up after we left them out overnight.

This is what their Easter baskets will look like this year.

Another tradition is that our local Real Estate agent hosts a Easter Eggstraveganza at our neighborhood park. Full of games, 2500 eggs and a bounce house. The kids love it every year.

I love taking pictures outside in our backyard, so I've tried to take a picture of us each year. Apparently this didn't start until Mini was born...

And then there was that time I tried to take pictures with the kids for the holiday...For the first year of their life, I did a themed photo shoot for each holiday

One of our Easter traditions is going to my Aunts house for a yummy dinner. She always has Easter eggs for the kids to find, and sometimes we find them, then hide them again so we can start the hunting all over again. And apprently I am really bad at taking pictures becasue I have random pictures from past Easter that make no sense...so you get two years, haha.

So those are our Easter Traditions. Not very many, and hopefully this year I'll be better about taking photos while at my Aunt's.

Easter Baskets

I'm straying from my usual fashion post to bring you all thing Easter basket. But feel free to hop on over to The Blended Blog to add your fashion/beauty posts. Today I'm linking up with some fabulous bloggers and we're all sharing our kids Easter Baskets. The good thing about this, is that it actually got me to finish Easter Basket gathering last weekend, instead of the day before...so thanks Jessica for setting this up!

*Some of the links are affiliate links and I will  either receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you click on it or if you make a purchase from one of these links, I may also receive a commission on the sale of the product. By purchasing through Foxy's Domestic Side, you're helping me to continue creating fun things for this space.

I knew that I wanted to have matching baskets for my kids, so I waited until the second was born so I could buy them the same. I didn't want to buy one and then not be able to get a second one to match. Crazy I know. Anyway, I got them at Pottery Barn Kids, this is the basket (except they made it better and it now has a swinging handle) and these are the different liners you can buy for it.

Way back when Baby Fox was celebrating his first Easter, I realized all of the fake green grass was totally plasticy and not nice, so my mom and I searched high and low for the green grass we used to get as kids...and we finally found it at a small boutique near my parents house...and it wasn't for sale, but she sold me some anyway, so we use this every year. I'm crazy.

Truth be told I totally went overboard with the gifts and Mr. told me to rein it in. So I cut back a lot, and only added things that could fit into the basket, which is probably how it should be. The rest that I bought I'm saving for a rainy day.

Let's break down

Mini Fox's Easter Basket:

Elena of Avalor Night Gown

Swedish Fish
Mary Poppins (50th Anniversary Edition)
Sees Candy Milk Chocolate Bunny
Sees Candy Butterscotch Lollypop

Things I got but am not going to use:
Princess Tiana Dress
Princess Rapunzel Dress

Candy I bought to put in the eggs:

Swedish Fish Jelly Beans (Do we see a Swedish Fish obsession going on?)
Mars Candy Assortment
Sees Candy Jelly Beans
Sees Candy Sour Bunnies

I typically will buy candy I like, beause we all know that we're the ones that eat it, no way my kids are eating this much sugar, haha! Hence the Sees Candy stuff. Typically my kids are all over the candy for day 1 and 2 and then by the 3rd day they lose interest and never ask for it again. Last Halloween, their candy bags were sitting on our kitchen table for a good 2 weeks before I decided they were over it and threw it all away, not before taking out the good stuff though.

So what did you get your kids for Easter? Do you buy good candy too, so you know you'll like it...or maybe you buy bad stuff so that you won't be tempted to eat it? Either way, can't wait to see what you got your kids! Come back tomorrow where I'm going to be talking Easter traditions.

Lego Wall Display

Hello Foxy Friends! This year I decided that it was going to be the year of organization, I gave you an update here, so I thought I would share another project. It's been slow going, but over the weekend we got another project done. Our problem was that once Baby Fox finished a Lego set we had no where to put them. Then his friends would come over and destroy them and then we would spend approximately a bazillion hours trying to put it back together. I"m going to give Mr. full credit here, we talked about it, but he got it done. Found the shelves, ordered the Lego plates and installed everything. I just took pictures, and held up a measuring tape, and told him where to put the shelves and the plates. Let's get started.

Material:

Shelves (White and Yellow)
Brickyard Lego Plates

Optional: Spray Paint (color of your choice)

Directions:

Step 1

Decide where you want to put your shelves on your wall. We decided on getting 6 shelves to fill the whole space up.

Step 2

Measure a whole lot and figure out where each shelf is going to go.

Step 3

Start drilling holes and hanging shelves. Get some cute little helpers along the way.

Step 4

Have the kids decorate the Lego plates to keep them busy.

Step 5

After hanging all of the shelves, take the ones off that you want to paint. Baby Fox wanted all the white shelves painted green so Mr. bought a can of green spray paint that roughly matched the Lego color green. I forgot to take a picture of this, but our garage floor might remember that painting for a while, hehe.

Step 6

Once paint dries hang up all of the shelves and the Lego plates. We did make the Lego Plate removable, so he could change them out if he wanted to.

I just love the way that it came out, so perfect for him, and now he has a place to store his Lego sets and the wall has something on it. He used to have his baby quilt up there, but when we took that down earlier this year, it was so blank. I'm happy that something now lives in that empty space. Thank you Mr. for making this all happen. (Can I tell you how much it bothers me that there are two greens in a row...I couldn't convince him to switch it...)
