Friday Favorite #176: Birthday Edition

Hello Foxy Friends! Happy Friday! Yay, and it's a long weekend, love long weekends! So let's get to my favorites.

Yesterday was my birthday! I had a great day, I left work early, went to the Container Store (wow that makes me sound old that I like going to the Container Store), went to the gym and then dinner with my family. It was a great day, considering I had to work! I think everyone should get their birthday off as a floating holiday at work.

Don't be jealous, Mini Fox made me my birthday crown. You can't see it, but it has jewels all over it.

How awesome is this cake? I'm so spoiled, lemon fox cake for the win!

Thank you to all of you who sent birthday messages, it was so sweet! Here to an even better year. Next year the big 4-0. What should I do? What did you do or plan to do for your 40th?

I got a sursprise gift in the mail from my friend Andrea...so sweet of her to surprise me with all of my favorite things. She knows me well! And the card she sent was personalized! Say what?! I don't even know how she did it, but it was amazing, and so thoughtful. I'm so lucky to have such good friends.

Baby Fox started school on Monday. He's a big second grader.

In case you were wondering, I used chalk marker on the sign and no it won't come off, and yes I bought a bunch when I was at Target, so I don't have to stress again for 3 years trying to find another first day of school sign, haha!

I knew he wouldn't let me take a selfie when we got to school, so I took one while walking.

That little girl sitting next to him was in his class last year. In case you were wondering...you can't tell from this picture, but there are 20 boys and 8 girls...good luck to his teachers!

Mom tribe, we made it through summer. All of our boys are in the same class this year.

Mini Fox starts school next week, so you'll be seeing those next Friday.

Other random things happening...

This girl got her second hair cut, ever.

We met up for dinner at the park with some friends, they transferred into our school this year, so happy to have them there. I also went to elementary school with the guy waving, he was one of my brothers best friends.

This kid got his hair cut...man this barber place had 12 chairs and constant clients...probably because of the $9 price tag.

We went to concert in the park.

Hanging out with Mini Fox's bestie. Funny enough they are 3 weeks apart, and he started kinder this year, while Mini Fox has to wait another year. Fingers crossed he repeats so they can be in the same class...kidding, sort of.

Bought soccer shoes for everyone...she's the only one that wanted to wear them home.

Got one last late night ice cream fun in before school started.

This girl started soccer, her very first practice. Up until now, it was only show up 20 minutes before game to practice. We're big time now.

Team huddle!

Oh my gosh, I watch Brooklyn and Bailey (Their mom is Cute Girls Hairstyles which I get a lot of my hair tutorials from) and is it okay to say you're jealous of their dorm room? How cute did they decorate? Such a good idea to use contact paper to change the look of the walls, doesn't harm the wall and you get a completely different look. Going to remember that one!

I just saw a 9 minute sneak peek of this show, and I can't wait to watch it! Mr. and I are totally into Sci-Fi, so this is right up our alley! Who's going to watch this with me? September 24th! Okay, okay, September 25, Hulu and us have a date!

That's all I have for today. This weekend I'm in partying prepping mode. I have done NOTHING! Lots of DIY to do, I might not sleep, but that's okay, I got this! Plus Mini Fox's bestie and his brother and spending the night while their parents are away for an anniversary get away, all of the kids are counting down the days.

Perfect Fall Work Outfit

Hi Foxy Friends! I know I've been a little MIA lately, just enjoying the family, staying out late, putting the kids to bed way later than normal, hanging with friends and enjoying one of the best summers ever! Taking pictures in the summer is hard for me...it's super sunny, I have a sunny backyard, and it's hard to sneak in pictures. When the sun doesn't go down till late, I'm usually not in the mood to take pictures. But this weekend it was actually cloudy, so threw on some clothes and took a picture for you.

Anyway, this is the perfect Fall work outfit as sometimes it's really cold in the morning and evenings and warmer in the afternoon, so you can take the blazer on and off as needed.

Pants (similar here and here) / Camisole / Blazer (similar) / Heel

Andrea, which I can't find the exact post, but she's wearing the cami in this post...said they were comfy and versitle, so I jumped right on it. Right now they are buy one get one 50% off, so jump on it, it's a good deal! She is so right, I have it in three colors, this light pink one, a white one and a black and white polka dot one (I can't say no to polka dots). I actually wore this skirt (it has elastic in the waist, with a regular front, so you get the comfort in the back and style in the front) with it for church on Sunday.

In case you are wondering, and I know you are...I'm wearing this strapless bra. Stays up all day and I'm not constantly tugging on it, so I guess that's a win.

What's Up Wednesday....er....Tuesday

Hi Foxy Friends! I can't believe the last time I linked up with  ShayMel and Sheaffer for their What's Up Wednesday was in March! No time like the present to do it now. So let's get started.

1. What We're Eating

This meatloaf....yum!

Thursday, Friday, Saturday we're going out to dinner...cause birthday week!

2. What I'm Reminiscing About

Baby Fox just went back to school yesterday, which got me thinking about when he started preschool....this was pre-sign stuff, or I can't find the picture...probably the case.

January 2015 (he started mid year).

September 2015

September 2016

September 2017

3. What I'm Loving

The new friends I've made this past year. I don't know what I'd do without them. Today Baby Fox had to find his own way to his classroom and he wasn't sure where to line up, but he figured it out and the other moms said, I've got your back, we'll find him and let you know he's okay. Made me feel better that there were people looking out for him.

4. What We've Been Up To

Lot's of time hanging out with friends, soaking up every last minute of summer we can. Taking a couple of long weekends (recap to Northern California, here, here and here), and then Yosemite.

And lots of ice cream with friends.

5. What I'm Dreading

Currently not much...

6. What I'm Working On

Trying to get ready for Mini Fox's birthday party. I realize this is my last weekend before the party and I haven't done ANYTHING...oops!

7.  What I'm Excited About

Mini Fox's party next month...it's unicorn themed and I'm really hoping I have time to do all of the crafts that I want to do! Most likely not...but I'll certainly try! I'm going to try to make these...I can do it!

8. What I'm Watching/Reading

I just finished reading Crazy Rich Asian...really good book. And then went with my girlfriends to go see the movie, super good movie! I highly recommend.

9. What I'm Listening To

Not listening to much these days.

10. What I'm Wearing

Lots of rompers currently

11. What I'm Doing This Weekend

Doing all things party. Plus we're having some friends kids spend the night as the husband surprised the wife with a trip to France! So we're taking the kids for a night for them, give the grandparents a break.

12. What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month

Mini Fox's birthday party! Plus getting back into a routine...it's been a great summer, but ready to get back into the swing of regular life, getting the kids to bed on time and maybe getting back into blogging!

13. What Else is New?

Not much. Looking forward to the weather cooling down and wearing more than a shorts and a tank everyday.

Bonus: What's your favorite back to school tradition?

I love being able to drop the kids off at school and then pick them up and I take them for a first day treat. This was last year.

Yosemite Trip 2018

Hi Foxy Friends, I know radio silence this week. I was going to post something on Wednesday but 8.5 hour car ride, followed by unpacking the car...took it's toll and well, nothing blog related happen. But I am here to recap our trip! I'll try to keep the photos to a minimum.

Last year we did the same trip, we loved it so much we decided to do it again. See the recap here.  The difference between this trip and last trip, we camped an extra day, we wanted two full days without having to pack it all up. We left on Friday to drive to Fresno, break up the drive a bit. With how long the drive is, if we did it all on the first day of our reservation, we would be getting there at nightfall, not fun. Okay long story now.

We made one stop...In and Out

We got to the hotel and the kids went swimming and we grabbed some take out. Forgot to take pictures. Saturday we got up, ate breakfast and hit the road.

We set up camp, the only spot on the site that would fit both of our tents.

After we set up we took the kids down to the Merced river.

We made some dinner, veggies and shrimp skewers (they were on mega sale, it was like they were telling us to buy them).

Kids helping to cook the hotdogs, they couldn't wait for the shrimp, so while they waited they ate hotdogs (no buns).

Sunday we went for a hike, half way to Vernal Falls.

If you look in the background, you can see the waterfall.

After our hike we cooled off in the river...so refreshing.

Monday we did another walk, it turned out to be almost 4 miles, whoops. We went to Mirror Lake and guess what we found?

Yep an empty lake...but we did find a deer, so that was cool.

We decided to give the kids a break, plus we wanted to take a shower after 3 days of no shower. They went swimming in the pool and we got a shower, win-win for both.

Sweet smelling kids.

We had a great trip, with lots of great memories to be had. Until next time!
