Easter Weekend

I didn't have time to get the pictures off my camera from our Easter Dinner, but here was our weekend, up until Easter Dinner.

Friday Mr. took off work to spend some time with the kids. When Daddy is getting Mini Fox ready, always a pretty dress.

After picking up Baby Fox from school, they stopped at the park on the way home.

Then it was off to Mini Fox's 18 month check up. She has no idea what's coming. But happy to be playing in the boat at the office. She weighs in at 22 pounds 14 oz (25%) and is 33 inches tall (80%).

Daddy's attempt at doing a top knot in Mini Fox's hair. So cute that he tried.

She had to get her Tetnus shot and let me tell ya, that shot is no joke! She got some cookies for being brave, everything is better with cookies right? Poor thing, see the tears? She was just miserable.

Can't nap, so she just snuggled Daddy for 30 minutes.

She was super cranky the whole afternoon/evening.Mr. left for a baseball game after I got home from work and this is what I got the whole night. Poor thing. I finally gave her some medicine around 6:30, it didn't really help much. I actually had to rub her back to get her to fall asleep, which has never happened, but at least it worked.

My brother and his wife came after the kids went to bed, Baby Fox was so excited that he stayed up until they got there. As soon as they got there, he hugged them hello and then when they were out getting their stuff from the car, he said, can you put me back to bed? I said, you can wait for them to come back in and he said, no can you just put me to back to bed? Such a sweet kid.

Saturday morning we all wanted to go for a walk...to Starbucks and the park. As we're leaving the house to go, we see at the park that they are having their annual Easter Egg hunt. We thought we missed it when we went to Tahoe, but they decided to do it the day before Easter, which is unusual. But hey works for us!

Mini Fox LOVED the bounce house. While all the other kids were getting the Easter Eggs, my kids wanted to just play in the bounce house.

Hey they're smart, all the other kids went to get eggs and they had the place to themselves.

See all those little dots on the grass? Yep those are all Easter Eggs, crazy right? Must have taken them forever to fill those up! Even seeing this, my kids still didn't want to go get any.

Cheese!

There was a small section roped off for kids 3 and under. Mini Fox's first time getting an egg.

She quickly realized that there was candy inside.

Brother may have gotten a few of the 3 and under eggs too.

Showing me what was in her egg.

Bunny Ears...Baby Fox did not want anything to do with this picture, can you tell?

I love that Mini Fox is still checking out the Bunny Ears. So cute!

Then we went to another park for the kids to play around in. Mini Fox wants to be just like her brother. She looks so small in this picture.

But was totally able to push it around, pretty impressive for an 18 month old. Baby Fox could not do this at this age, at all. Crazy how different kids are.

After getting home, we did lunch and then swim lessons for Baby Fox. He's finally getting his arms out of the water...yay!

Mini Fox taking notes I'm sure...lol.

Baby Fox with Ms. K, he loves his teacher.

After lessons we decided to stop at the grocery store.

Yep this is how we roll, carrying the kids on our shoulders everywhere we go.

After nap time I wanted to go out to eat, actually Baby Fox wanted to go to this Mexican place we like on Friday, but after taking a hour and 45 minutes to get home from work the last thing I wanted to do was get on the freeway and sit in more traffic, and Mini Fox was so cranky that I told him we could go on Saturday.

Still cranky and wanting out. But then food came and all was good with the world.

The Easter Bunny came!

Reading the books they got before church.

We went to my parents church (although we're thinking of switching), currently they don't have a church, just the church hall, so they had these big tents outside for extra people. It was nice to be in the shade.

Loving on each other.

Mini Fox was tired and Ampa got a few snuggles in, totally rare for this to happen.

We told Baby Fox he could eat his chocolate bunny after church, he made sure we brought it so that he could open it the second church ended.

If you're wondering, which I'm sure you're not, the bunny is from See's Candy

My parents brought over their Easter basket from them.

Time to go hunt Easter Eggs!

Checking out what's in the eggs, along with eating some of it too.

Family picture, love getting these family pictures, at least everyone is looking at the camera, one day...everyone will smile...one day.

That's it for now, stay tuned for Santa Barbara pictures!

How was your Easter/weekend?

My 5 Favorite Books

Linking up again with the Style Challenge Ladies and today's topic books. I admit I am a fiction book person. I work hard all day, and when I read, I just want to let go, not think about my life and be totally enveloped by someone elses life. I said it, I don't want to better myself in reading about history...actually that's not true, I find history really interesting, but for the life of me CANNOT remember anything. This is why I keep all of my fiction books, I can literally read it one year, wait a few years and read it again and have it be a totally new book.

Anyway, here's my list:

When I was younger I loved Sweet Valley High and Babysitters Club, but one of the first non-kid books I absolutely loved was The Winner.

My Dad read it and passed it down to me. Which is the case with a lot of books I used to read. Anyway, he passed this down and we both LOVED it. It's almost two books in one. Now and days they probably would separate it into two books and 5 movies...haha, you get the idea...speaking of which, we're still waiting for this to become a movie, it would be a good one!

After college, I had a lot more time to read, I think I read a total of 4 books in college (the first 4 books in the Harry Pottery Series, and I read all of them the first couple of months of my senior year because school work was easy and I had time). Anyway, I discovered Jodi Picoult. I love her writing style. My first book was My Sisters Keeper

I found that I was on the edge of my seat, and it was really the first book that I had read that each chapter was written in different characters perspectives, but still advanced the storyline. I actually read this on my honeymoon, and it was definitely a tear jerker, and I cried a lot...not the best honeymoon book reading material. Four years later they made it into a movie, which of course wasn't as good as the book.

The second Picoult book I read was The Pact. It really got me thinking about love and what I would do for it. This is another one that I read in a weekend because I couldn't put it down.

I also really liked Plain Truth, it's about a Amish community turned upside down by a tragedy (isn't that how all of her books go?) Definitely a book that is not predictable and keeps you turning the pages as the mystery unfolds.

A series of books that I really like, passed down from my Dad. Actually my dad and his best friend would swap these books, then pass them down to me, I would pass it down to Mr. and then we would give it back to my dad's best friend to give to his son, and sometimes my Grandpa would get in on the mix, we definitely get our money worth out of these books. All the books have the same character: Jack Reacher, former MP, loner, just trying to keep to himself, but always finds himself in a murder mystery.  Each novel can stand on it's own, so you don't really need to read them in order. These are usually murder mysteries and you really feel like you're there in the book, trying to figure it out too. I think I've read nearly all 20 of them over the years.

Tom Cruise actually bought the rights to the books and made them into an action flick. While the movie didn't follow one book, I did think that the movie was really good, and hope that they make some more.

A book that I really liked was The Wednesday Letters. After Jack and Laural die their children are left to plan the funeral and go through their things. While going through their things they found letters that Jack wrote to Laural every Wednesday for their entire marriage. Through the letters the kids find out secrets and things that had happened that they never knew. Their left to figure it all out, and to sort through their own feels of how they saw their parents and who they really were. I just loved that we got to read letters from Jack to Laural, and it really felt like you were one of the kids discovering all of this information and trying to process it with them.

Another fun one, that EVERYONE has read is the Hunger Games series, I just really loved it and I liked that they were easy reads, and I didn't have to think too much about it and again a page turner...I actually read them twice, I find that sometimes I read a book too fast the first time around, and usually end up going back and reading a book a second time, immediately, so I can really enjoy it.

An what's a book list without some kid books? My favorite kid book that I've read to Baby and Mini Fox is On The Night You were Born. It's just a sweet book, that gets me a little teary eyed every time I read it.

I know this has a lot of controversy and a lot of people have very strong opinions, but we REALLY loved Baby Wise, it really saved us, while we didn't follow it to a tee, we used the basic principles and I think it's what got our kids on sleep schedule and sleeping through the night.

I really liked Toddler wise too, although I really only used this book for the nap time routine...

I'm pretty easy when it comes to book. If I can forget about real life and everything going on around me, I consider it a good book.

How about you? What's your favorite book?

Now go check out the other Style Me ladies to see what their favorite books are!

Happy 10 Year Anniversary

Today is Mr. and my 10 year anniversary. It's crazy how fast time flies. We met at a bar, almost 12 years ago. Last year I wrote about the 9 things that made our marriage work.  I know you guys already know how much I love Mr. and how much we complete each other. We fit, we agree on almost everything and we have fun together. We never listen to the radio in the car, even on 11 hour car rides. Thank you Mr. for making these past 10 years so memorable, for giving me the best kids a Mommy could ask for, and for being my best friend, confidant and everything inbetween. Here's to many, many more years together!

We're still on our getaway, doing what we want when we want to, and it's probably amazing. Can't wait to tell you guys all about it!

Happy Anniversary Mr.! If I ever figure it out, I'll have to post the video we had done for our wedding, anyone know how to do that?

Get To Know Me - Liebster Award

I was recently nominated by Tina over at Go Big or Go Home  for a Liebster Award. I was going to wait till next week to post this, but since so many of you are new I thought you could get to know me a little bit through Tina's questions. Thank for the nomination! Here are her questions she asked me.

1- What’s your blog about?

My blog is about me and family and everything else in between. I started it back when I discovered Pinterest (really late the game on that one, I resisted for so long) and then thought hey I have DIY projects I do. A blog is the only way to get it on pinterest. I can do that. And so my blog was born. But while I was writing up my intro, I realized I also wanted to work on my fashion, so I threw that in there too. Over the years it's grown to be my outlet for anything and everything I am thinking of at the time.

2- What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was really young, kindergarten till 3rd grade, I wanted to be a Veterinarian. But then realized I am allergic to pretty much all furry animals, plus I was super allergic to flea bites, like really allergic...you know no idea. I didn't want to just specialize in reptiles cause let's face it, they freak me out. Dreams crushed....

Then about 3rd grade I was reading a story in school about an icktheologist, a person that studies fish, and I really wanted to be that and specialize in sharks. I found, and still do, find sharks fascinating. Every since watching Jaws, totally seems backwards right? But nope, I wanted to study sharks, probably until high school. Then found out in 10th grade that I am deathly afraid of the ocean. Like I won't even go in it. I thought, well I can send someone else down in the cage of death to get the information I need and I'll do the research from above....there was another dream...

3- What is your favorite beauty product?

I'm not sure if this counts as a beauty product, but I cannot live without my face wash and face cream. I've been using this stuff for years and it just makes your skin feel so soft and clean. Hands down this is my favorite beauty product of all time.

4- What brand is your favorite pair of jeans?

Hmmm...I don't think I have a favorite, I know what are favorites in my closet. I love my Vigoss Skinny jeans (similar), they fit great, are stretchy and are my go to jeans if I'm wanting to wear skinny jeans.

My other favorites, which I don't really wear that often are my White House Black Market boot cut jeans. Man these things are COMFY. I've actually only worn them once, because I have to wear super tall shoes with them, but man are they comfy! I'm bringing them with me on our trip. If I do end up wearing them, I'll make sure to take a proper picture.

The only picture of me wearing them...poor quality but what can ya do?
5- Tell me about your favorite day in your life!

Wow there are so many favorite days in my life. Back February Andrea asked us our Ground Hog Day...this day isn't an actual day, but it would be my favorite repeatable day. As far as actual days, I think I would have to pick our wedding day (turns out I've never really shown you pictures of our wedding, that must change).

After that I would chose the birth of Baby Fox and Mini Fox.

6- Why did you start blogging?

I actually started blogging before we got pregnant, when we decided we wanted to try to have a baby. I blogged to document the journey to parenthood (private blog), then after Baby Fox was born, and I discovered Pinterest, I started blogging for me. To document my projects, my fashion journey and then it changed into my everyday thoughts and dreams. Whatever I feel like blogging about. I love it, the people that I've met and it's something just for me.

7- Where is your favorite place in your house?

I just blogged about this. I think it would have to be our Master Suite.

Toys and all....

8- Coffee or tea?

Neither actually. I can't handle caffine, it makes me jittery, and I don't particularly care for tea...maybe some hot chocolate?

9- Tell me about your favorite DIY project.

I love throwing parties. I love making crafts for parties. Here's my 5 tips to throwing an awesome party.

I think my favorite DIY project from Mini Fox's 1st Birthday is the ladybug wreath I made.

And the second one is the construction party I threw for Baby Fox's 2.5 birthday party.

10- Where do you get outfit inspiration?

Right now a lot of my outfit inspiration comes from Alison. She tells me what to wear and when to wear it. She's been telling me for about a year now.

I'm going to let her keep telling me what to wear in the Spring Challenge. Sign ups* are right now! So get on the band wagon and join me and the other amazing ladies in the Challenge and let Alison tell you what to wear too!
