Scarf Accessory Is Back + Holiday Planning

Hello Foxy Friends! Now that the common threads challenge is over, I have a whole closet to play with, it's pretty fantastic after limiting myself to using 5 things...the weather is finally cooling off, so now we're in high 60's which means...I can break out the scarves! Before I did Alison from Get Your Pretty On's challenge (affiliate link), I wouldn't dare wear leopard, but now...bring it on!

Dress (similar) / Leopard Scarf (similar) / Boots (similar)

I love that just by adding a scarf, it makes the outfit seem so much more pulled together. I tried a necklace, but it just didn't do the same thing.

I bought these boots to go with an outfit for our Christmas cards 2 years ago...and then they sat in a box...for two years...yep, this is the first time I have worn them. We got our family pictures done, and then I had ankle surgery the very next day. For whatever reason they hadn't made it out of the box, until Sunday. It was slightly chilly, and I don't like wearing pants to church, so this was a great compromise.

I'm also linking up with Shay and Erica for Workin' It Wednesday, today's topic is planning for the holidays.

Now that the kids are getting older, I feel like planning fun things for them is a must. This year we are going to the Polar Express and the North Pole Experience. We are all so stinkin' excited!  Yes we're driving 10+ hours to get there, actually Siri says it's 8ish hours...but that's driving straight with no traffic and no stops, so let's go with 10+, wish us luck!

As far as planning goes, we always go to my cousins house for Thanksgiving, so I don't really have to worry about that, besides whatever side dish she wants us to bring. I always buy the kids matching Thanskgiving PJ's to wear after the turkey and pie has been eaten.

We also found out taking the kids to see Santa the day before Thanksgiving, yep that happens. No lines and we can pretty much take as many pictures as we want...score. Plus that way I can put that picture in our family calendar for the following year. Win-win.

That being said I also always getting matching PJ's for Christmas too. I used to buy them for the whole family, but I got too much grief from the Mr....maybe I'll spring it on him the night before Christmas, haha. Anyway, I got these to wear on the Polar Express, and these to wear to the cousin party. I actually bought 13 pairs of these for all of the little cousins to wear to The Cousin Party.

I'm going to ride that matching PJ's thing for as long as possible! Not sure how many more years I'm going to get out of them, now that Baby Fox doesn't like to sleep with a shirt and wears shorts...but at least he puts them on for pictures. I'm hoping with the weather getting slightly cooler, he'll start wearing pants, so at least the bottom half of them can match?

Apparently the only picture I took last year wearing their matching Pj's where they are in the same picture, oops!

I try to plan out my decorating too, I pretty much know where everything is going to go, so when we get everything out, everything has a place...at least that's the plan. Full confession, we're getting the Christmas tree out on Sunday because that's the only weekend until the second week of December to do it, and there isn't any way that this lady can handle a 12 foot Christmas tree on her own!

Last but not least, I plan for Baby Fox's birthday! I always make it special and have a special cake for him on his birthday (Christmas), so it makes it special. I never want him to feel like he gets overlooked because of Christmas. Although it does make it hard, when he wonders why the rest of his cousins can't come to Christmas/his Birthday party, since we host every year...

That's it, I always take on too much...making too many cookies, doing too many things, but you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way!

10 Back to School Must Have Items

Today I'm linking up with Shay and Erica for Workin' Wednesday, I can't even believe that we are shopping for school supplies. While our school doesn't start for another 3 weeks, we had to do the shopping this past weekend because we're going to be out of town or busy every weekend leading up to the start of school. First day of school is not only going to be a 6 hour day (instead of 3, like Kindergarten), but we'll just be getting back into town the night before from camping. This is the school supply list that Baby Fox's new school sent us.

1st Grade School supplies

Things that I used to love as a kid buying for school, pencil boxes, there was nothing better then getting all of your new pencils and erasers and then putting them into a Hello Kitty Pencil Case. Turns out the one I used to have is now considered vintage...man I feel old. But I loved those plastic things.
Elementary school supply list
Okay one last thing as a blast from the past. Trapper Keepers, man those things, and then having the matching pencil case that clipped into the three ring binder, bomb.com. I had one similar to this girl.

Okay getting off topic here. But it's so fun to remember all the stuff I used to love about the beginning of school, new school clothes, picking out what to wear on the first day, new shoes and just the anticipation of a new school year and learning new things. I loved all of it. I really hope Baby Fox loves school as much as I do, from the looks of it, I think it's going to love it.

I put together a video of all of the stuff in Baby Fox's School Supply Haul. If you could click on it and thumbs up the video, that would mean the world to me! Thank you so much for supporting my channel.

Also linking up with Erin for 10th on the 10th and with

What is something that you absolutely loved about the new school year?

Our Weekend in 10 Photos

I figure since Shay and Erica's Workin' It Wednesday topic, is a weekend life, and after reading Stephanie's post last month about the Daily Dime link up, I knew I had to participate too, so I'm also linking up with a few other bloggers for:

These pictures are from July 8-9 , unfortunately Mini Fox was sick so we spent a LOT of time inside watching tv and relaxing. But that's life for you right?

Saturday morning started off with my new favorite class called Lifebarre

Then I got to take a leisure shower and get ready, obviously no pictures allowed in the locker room. Picked up Baby Fox at the kids academy (Mini Fox was sick so she stayed behind with Daddy at home), we headed home and then some friends came over for some swimming and dinner.

The best part, is that they can all swim so we can sit and watch and chat, we chatted about our next trip together, we're thinking Hawaii.

Sunday, Mini Fox was still sick so she did a lot of this:

I took a few hours and meal prepped for the week. Ran out of containers, so had to improvise until more containers are available this week.

Mr. helped me fix my blog, phew, glad he knew what to do.

Meanwhile, Baby Fox worked on some Lego Nexo Knight stuff.

We all needed to get out of the house, so we treated the kids to some Yogurtland, because when you get a buy one get one free you take advantage of it. Bonus: The lady gave us the coupon back so we can use it again!

But mostly this happened a good portion of the day.

We put the kids to bed and then watched our new favorite show Turn (have you seen it? It's on Netflix and it's about the revolutionary war, super interesting).

Mr. is drinking beer, I am drinking water...trying not to snack at night...so....hard.

Update: Mini Fox's fever went up to 102.7, so we're taking her into the doctors today...fingers crossed it's nothing and that she doesn't have to do any breathing treatments or antibiotics. Anyone else feel like you don't want to bother the doctor with taking them in all the time, and mostly they tell you it's a virus, it will pass, but there is that small part of you that needs to take them in, just to make sure? I hoe they don't have on their record, "that annoying mother that brings them in for a cold"

Okay, back on topic...if you want the other topics for Workin' Wednesday for the rest of the year.

Keeping Kids Busy All Summer

Today I'm linking up with Shay and Erica for Workin' It Wednesday, today's topic is how to keep the kids entertained all Summer. I don't have to think of as many things because I work full time, so I really only have to take care of the weekends, like I do the rest of the year. That being said we have signed up Baby Fox for few classes.

When we were signing him up it didn't seem like that much, but putting it down on paper makes it seem like a lot. Oh well, he approved and picked all of the classes out, so I know he's going to love all of it, I hope.

First up is something called Build a Fort, we've basically watched them do this camp for the past 5 years, and this is the first year that Baby Fox is old enough to participate. He is so stinkin' excited. It's exactly what you think it is, you build forts in a park. Yep you read that right, they build forts, how cool is that? They teach the kids money management, and letting the kids chose if they want to build with new nails, old ones, new boards, old boards. They have to get their fort inspected by a real city inspector. I think it's going to be a blast. The spots fill up super fast, so you better believe I had Mr. down there the day of trying to sign him up, sign ups are only in person. He showed up 10 minutes early and there were already a few people in line. That was on a Tuesday, when I went to take Mini Fox to ballet on Friday there was a sign on the door saying it was already full.

Yep that's what they look like, you can see those two on the left are connected, it's crazy. And they are surprisingly sturdy, they used to keep the ladders out all the time, but last year they changed that and they put away the ladders. Of course I'm sure the 1st grade kids don't do this, so we'll see how much they do, I'll keep you posted.

Picture from here

We also signed him up for two other classes through the community college, one is a Chemistry Lab and the other is a Lego Robotics class. Yep I think we have a fellow nerd here. At first we were going to sign him up for the Chem lab the Monday after school got out, so I told him: Buddy the chem lab is going to start for two weeks the Monday after you get out of school. You sure that's okay, and he yells, yep! Sounds like fun! This kid takes after my heart and his love for learning.

We tried to find a VBS to send him to, but all of the ones around us happen to be at the same as one of those three classes takes place. So that might be it for Baby Fox.

Poor Mini Fox is still a little too little to go off on her own, so I guess she's not doing anything other than waiting for Baby Fox to get home.

We also plan on doing lots of this...

Now that Baby Fox learned how to rid his bike this weekend, yep that's right he is already standing and peddling, I can't even do that!  We're so proud of him, he learned so freakin fast. Then the second time we took him out he learned how to start by himself and turn in a matter of minutes. Apparently he was ready to ride a bike, that and he really wants Heelys, and we told him the only way he was going to get them was if he learned how to ride a bike. Motivation works wonders I'm telling ya.

Then of course lots of this. It's going to start getting hot here, and I'm sure we'll be in it everyday we're not at the gym after work. Plus hanging with friends, because what's summer without a lot of friend time?

I'm also going to buy Baby Fox a few workbooks to work through. So he doesn't forget everything he learned this past year. When I asked him about doing a workbook, his answer? Yeah! I love it. I'm thinking of getting this and then a few of the workbooks from the Star Wars Series:  Math, Writing, and Writing...what kid wouldn't want to do Star Wars workbooks?

That's all I got so far, what are you doing to keep your kids busy this summer?

10 Summer Must Haves

Hello Foxy Friends! You guys know my love for tulle skirts. I think it's the perfect skirt for both Spring and Summer.  This month the ladies over at The Blended Blog are hosting a series called Fashion Files, where we find some inspiration and then recreate that look. Last week I decided I wanted to recreate a look with my jean vest, because it doesn't get near enough wear. This week I decided to style my tulle skirt. I need to step outside of my little comfy box. Off to Pinterest I headed and found these gems, seriously, how gorgeous do these ladies look?

Outfit #1 // Outfit #2 // Outfit #3

*Some of the links are affiliate links and I will  either receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you click on it or if you make a purchase from one of these links, I may also receive a commission on the sale of the product. By purchasing through Foxy's Domestic Side, you're helping me to continue creating fun things for this space.

I thought I cold recreate this look. I never would have paired these things together had it not been for pinterest, so thank you Pinterest for the win! I love this look, now where to wear it...I think this might be my next MNO outfit, cause why not?

The tulle skirt is no longer available, but look down below for some cute, affordable options.

This clutch, oh my goodness how much do I love this clutch? It's my new favorite go to going out bag...swoon.

I just love this graphic tee, what I did learn is that my closet is full of loose fitting graphic tees, I need some tighter ones.

This skirt doesn't have pockets, but how cute is it if it did? I have no idea what I was going for with this picture.

And of course for the silly pictures of the day.

I'm really digging this lipstick...and you know what it's every color I own...okay not every color, but I started out with one color, didn't like so added another color, didn't like that, so I added some gloss...and this what you see here. I have no idea what combo it was, darn it.

I'm also linking up with Shay and Erica for Workin' It Wednesday and  Erin for 10 on the 10th for my 10 summer must haves.

1. Tulle skirt, duh. I think it's a fun piece to add to your wardrobe. Fun for a date night, Spring or Summer wedding, or a just because. Mine is no longer available but I found this one and then I found this full length one that I might have to get...so pretty!

2. Water Bottle. - Mr. Just bought these and they are magical. Seriously, I have no idea how it works, but it keeps water cold FOREVER. Like the other day I filled it up with ice water for soccer (think Saturday at noon), then Sunday at 10pm, so 32 hours later and the water was still cold! No ice, but the water was cold. They sell them at Costco for a lot cheaper. I also bought 28oz water bottle from the same company but it closes completely and keeps everything cold too. A must have, so now I can keep the water in the hot car over the summer and it will still be cold when I get back in!

3. Flamingo Pool Float and Unicorn Pool Float

4. Cute hats are a must with the sunny weather coming our way. I like this straw one, but the striped one is super cute too. But sometimes a baseball cap or two or three comes in handy when you're having a dirty hair day.

5. Some cute summer dresses like this, this or  this

6. What's summer without a cute bathing suit? Target is killing it with the clothes this season. I have my eye on a few, waiting for the coveted BOGO sale. I have this and this suit and get so many compliments when I wear them. The only problem with those suits are that they aren't functional for swimming. So this year I'm going to get a couple that I can actually swim and play in the pool with the kids, I think this and this fit the bill.

7. What's a perfect Summer day without the perfect make up? I just bought  bunch of summer make up from Tarte and am loving all of it! I wrote about it on Monday and also made a haul video go check out all of the goodies I got.

8. Then what are you going to wear with your dresses and swim suits? Sandals of course! I think these fit the bill nicely.

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

9.  Of course you're going to need some sunnies to keep the eyes shaded. These blue aviators remind me of Shauna from Lipgloss and Lace.  These green retro sunnies are super cute too.

10. How could I not put sunscreen on the list? Or something with sunscreen in it. CC cream, BB cream (the one I use), or Tinted SPF moisturizer for those days you are going to the beach and don't want a full on foundation. Anything to help keep your face pretty and cancer free.
