Weekend Recap

I got a three day weekend, be jealous. It was great and very needed. Although I think that every other week when I get Friday off, haha. I think we should be able to work the same amount of time but get every Friday off, my ideal world. Or maybe every Friday and Monday, making it every weekend 4 days, yes please! One day, one day.

Friday I had a playdate with some of my stay at home mommy friends, we usually try to get together on my off Fridays, since weekdays aren't filled with family obligations, etc.

What a cutie

Kids eating lunch together, all the kids are born within 3 weeks of each other

Baby Fox decided to wake up on the Ham side of the bed...haha. Just rockin' and drinking warm milk (yep he still likes his milk warm)

Saturday I had a baby shower for a "cousin" back in my home town. Mr. was going to take Baby Fox to swim lessons while I took off for the shower. Good thing that we were leaving at the same time. I was helping Mr. into the car and was going to take off right after they left in Mr.'s car. I get the boys packed up and in the car and Mr. goes to start my car...click, click, click...paused for a second, Mr. tries again...click, click, click...ugh! My car died! What?! LUCKILY Mr. has a "weekend car" so we have a spare car I could use to take to the shower (although not the most ideal car to drive long distance). We get Baby Fox out of the car seat, take the car seat out of my car and into Mr.'s car, transfer all the stuff and they're off. Now I have to take Mr.'s yellow car, of which I've driven once. It's a little yellow sports car, not ideal when pregnant and driving 100 miles one way. Of course when I get in it, I'm now running late, and it's OUT OF GAS! Arg...but I was lucky and hit NO traffic (practically unheard of in Los Angeles), and got there with a few minutes to spare.

Party was a smashing success and it was a gorgeous day out!

The flowers, all from Costco! Just order online and they deliver them to you, then you can arrange to your hearts desire, pretty good deal huh?

We're only 7 weeks apart, doesn't she look great? She's been sick her entire pregnancy minus 3 weeks and she has such a great attitude!

My mom with Mom-to-Be and her Mother-In-Law. My mom and her MIL have been friends for 50+ years? MIL's husband was friends with my Dad since Kindergarten! Can you imagine a friendship that long?

Afterwards I went to visit my grandma. She's doing pretty good, all things considered, she's at home and happy as long as she has her pain meds.

It took FOREVER to get home though, a little over 2 hours, boo! Wasn't as lucky on the way home. But Mr. said he would take me out to dinner, so I didn't have to cook, yay for awesome husbands!

What I walked into when I got home. Guess they had a fun day. In case you were wondering, Baby Fox did great at swim lessons, the teacher thought she could get Baby Fox swimming the width of the pool in 4 or 5 more lessons! What?!?! I'll keep you posted on that one.

Dinner

Sunday Mr. wanted to do music all day. So it was Baby Fox and I for most of the day. Mr. did fix my car, turns out it was the battery, he switched it out and now it's running great, let's hope that was the cause!

Baby Fox wanted pancakes for breakfast. See the orange cup there, yep he wanted his syrup in there so he could dip the pancakes. My pancakes are getting better. Last week it took me three batches to make them right. Yep you read that right, I had to make the batter three times! (Granted, I only make 1/4 cup of batter at a time). But for the life of me I can't make pancakes...I have no idea, but these ones actually came out good.

The rest of Sunday was spent doing errands and going to an outdoor mall which Baby Fox got to see a firetruck up close and ride on a train, what more could a little boy ask for on a Sunday?

We're off to Seattle later this week. Hope you guys have a great week!

Random Wednesday

Okay, so I wouldn't consider this an outfit post, mostly because it was right before I took a shower and wanted to snap a quick picture and I had taken off all of my accessories. Not that it was that much, a necklace and bracelet, so just pretend that's what you see there.

23 Weeks 4 Days (out of 40 for those that don't know)

Random Thoughts:

This is going to be a LONG summer. I mean I really hope it's not as hot as it was last year, else I might be one cranky hot pregnant lady! Seriously.

Luckily we have lots of activities planned for the summer, so it should go pretty quickly. On to the list:
  • Go to Seattle to visit family
  • Baby Fox's 1/2 birthday celebration (just got the invites in the mail last night, woo hoo!)
  • Legoland (wish me luck on that one I'll be 7.5 months pregnant)
  • My birthday!
  • Hopefully lots of beach days with friends and family
Lots to look forward before this little gets here.

Speaking of which, holy cow, I have so much to do before she gets here! I have to clear out her room from all of my stuff...I have NO IDEA where it's going to go. I keep putting it off, but there is only 3.5 months left and  I haven't even begun to think about room decor. I am SO not my mother's daughter, she would have had the whole thing planned out week 5 of the pregnancy (you know cause you don't know you're pregnant for the first 4).

I guess this post turned out to be all about baby, starting to have anxiety about how much needs to get done...but on the flip side, we did get a Double Bob this past weekend I could barely fit it into the car, and I may have had to take the wheels off to get it to fit...we're now up to 4 strollers, one day I'll take a picture of the ridiculousness of it all.

What A Deal!

This weekend I did something that I don't normally do - I went to a used children's clothing store. They were having this awesome sale...fill a bag (that they provide) for $5! What?! I thought it was worth checking out. It opened at 10am, but Baby Fox had a swim lesson at 10:40, so we were just going to have to hit it up afterward. We didn't get there till about 12:30, while there was a lot of things still available, it was definitely picked over. I talked with someone who went before it opened, and she said it was a mad house. A lot of the stuff was dried when it shouldn't have been, so it was short and fat, or it was just really worn out, probably not going to last another kid. We were picky since we only wanted to fill one bag worth. This is how much we got.

That's right we got 12 things for $5.

2 - pairs of jeans
2 - long sleeve shirts
3 - rompers
2  - pj's
1 - onsie
1- short sleeve top
1 - pair of shorts

Even if some of the things don't work out, the jeans with the hearts are worth $5, so we think not matter what we use it's a win.

Final thoughts: I thought some of the things there that weren't in the fill a bag sale was over priced. It seemed that they typically charged about 50% of what the actual price was, which you can almost find if you go to Target or Carters and have the clothes be new. So for me I think I would only go if they were having the $5 bag sale.

In closing: This little girl almost has more clothes than Baby Fox does...we just keep buying stuff for her. Gotta keep that in check, our clothing budget is dwindling quick!

Weekend Recap

Baby Fox has decided puzzles are really cool, I think we did and redid this puzzle no less then 10 times this weekend! Don't worry, he's not baby genius, we had to help a lot to get the pieces in the right places. I think it was sheer luck when he got it right :)

Saturday led us to another swim lesson. He's doing much better. We switched teachers, who is slightly prettier and Baby Fox couldn't be happier. Does everything she tells him to, we are so proud. I wish I knew how to make my video's smaller so I could post on here...anyone know?

His new swim teacher...

Saturday night after dinner Baby Fox and I relaxed watching some Pixar Short Films...love me some cuddle time. Only time I get it is when he's watching TV.

Sunday was a completely lazy day. Baby Fox stayed in his PJ's all day, until some friends came over for dinner and they went swimming.

Baby Fox wanted to help Daddy make his shake (mostly cause he thought he was going to get some)

A friend came over with her 5 week old to hang out for a bit, she's so cute! Baby Fox couldn't stop kissing and loving on her.

The men swimming with the kids, gave us mom's a little break.

After everyone got out of the pool the kids were famished and of course the BBQ ran out of gas, so Mr. had to run to the store to get more. While he did that the kids ate some chips and guacamole.

We finally wrangled the chips out of their hands, and gave them some dinner, they ate outside while we cooked our food (which I forgot to take a picture of).

Then while we ate the kids watched Finding Nemo. Notice how J-bean is sucking on her fingers too, she was copying Colton, she isn't a finger sucker, we thought that was cute.

After everyone ate, there was mention of cake and the kids went running to get their piece.

It was a great weekend at home, hope to another great one next weekend.

Lesson 5 - Communication:The Small Stuff

In case you're new here, I've been doing a marriage series about what makes our marriage work. You can find other posts here. Go check them out, right now.

Okay now that you're back. I thought I would let you guys in on something that most people think is weird, but it totally works for us.

Are you ready, hold on to your seats and don't think we're completely crazy.

You sure you're ready?

As you know Mr. and I have been together for almost 10 years now, and since our very first date (that didn't involve a bar, haha), we have NEVER listened to the radio. Yep we drive in complete silence.

That time we drove from Washington D.C. to Vermont and back in a week (about 1200 miles), we didn't turn on the radio. Or the other time we went to Yosemite to Aptos and back home (about 1000 miles), no radio. If we don't have anything to talk about we sit in silence. Strange to most people I know. But it works for us, it forces us to communicate with each other and really enjoy each other's company. For whatever reason after 10 years, we still have stuff to talk about. I would probably say 40% of our drives are in silence (sometimes I sleep, so that accounts for probably 10%, hehe). We just enjoying the scenery we are passing, like the one time we passed a Zebra on the California Coast just grazing, we back tracked and took pictures.

Now when the radio is on, it seems strange and very loud that it's on in the car when we are both there, and we usually turn it off right away. There have been a handful of occasions when we do turn on the radio, like if a LA Dodger game is on or Chicago Bears game is on and we're driving and I'm sleeping Mr. will turn it on so he can listen while he drives, but mostly when I'm sleeping he just drives in silence.

So next time you're in the car with your honey, turn the music/talk radio off and see what happens. It might just surprise you!

Hair Cut

Someone got a haircut yesterday. Our nanny also cuts hair...what doesn't she do? Anyway, she said that she was using the buzz cut thingy, and he moved and well there went part of his hair, so almost shaved it is. But it's super cute, and makes him look more like a little boy instead of my baby, boo hoo!

Some Random Things:

Colton has this blankie and is seriously attached to it (seen just behind him, has dots on one side and solid on the other). Monday I had to wash it and I had to nearly tear it out of his hands to get it in the wash. As soon as it was done in the dryer, I told him let's go get blankie from the dryer, he screams out "I So HAPPY!!!" and goes running towards the dryer. We've learned to NEVER leave it at home while going anywhere, it's meltdown city. Good thing we've taught him blankie stays in the car. But everytime we get back to the car, he acts like he hasn't seen it for days, not just minutes. He says, "Oh blankie, love you" and kissed it, and then hugs it, a lot. He's the cutest.

If you are an email subscriber to My Publisher they are having a really awesome sale right now. But the catch is that you have to use it before mid-August, now I'm trying to rack my brain for something to put in 70 pages worth of photobook. I just bought a Shutterfly photo book, (through Living Social) that needs to be used before mid-July...I am going to be a busy bee for the next couple of months.

Nordstroms is having their half yearly sale, must find something to buy...hopefully I can score some good deals on maternity stuff. I need more work shirts to wear, I seem to be rotating through the same 5 shirts...need more choices!

4 Day Weekend!

I had Friday off, which made this weekend a 4 day weekend, awesome! First I'd like to thank all of those service members that gave their lives so that my family and I can enjoy 4 day weekends.

Friday was one of my off Fridays, Mr. decided to work from home, yay! Although he did actually work, but he did join us for some lunch in the backyard.

Can you tell who got lunch first? Mom's always last, right?
After Baby Fox work up from his nap, Mr. took this cute picture of him.

See any similarities?

Friday night went to a friends house for dinner, wish I would have gotten pictures of how cute Baby Fox was with our friends little girl, he was hugging and kissing her good night, too cute.

Saturday we were up and off to visit my grandma, trying to get in as much time with her as possible.

Baby Fox was showing Great Grandma the bear he found on her bookcase. Bear was giving her snuggles.
Sunday we met up with my cousin and her kids, Baby Fox loves his older cousin, and always says "M my buddy" or "M sleep at my house" (we told him that they were coming to spend the weekend with us in a couple of months).

Lunch time! Note: Baby Fox and his girl cousin (on the left) are only 6 months apart

We went to see the fish just outside the restaurant we picked

We got one last visit with Great Grandma before we headed back home.

Baby Fox thought it would be funny to finish off dinner with a bowl on his head. Silly kid.

Ta-da!!!!
After being in Chicago last weekend and my parents this weekend, Baby Fox's schedule has been crazy. He slept until 10am on Monday! Monday morning we walked down to our community park for their half marathon and they had Marines there showing off their tanks.

Baby Fox wasn't so sure about being on top of the tank
Lunch outside again. Love eating outside!

For the record, I only ate half of that sandwich

After nap time, Ampa (aka Grandpa) and Nana came over for dinner. They filled up the water guns. Notice how Ampa has the orange water gun? Yep that one doesn't work, sneaky Baby Fox, or Daddy who told Baby Fox to give Ampa the orange gun.

All in all it was a great weekend, got to see a lot of my cousins at Great Grandma's and it's only a 4 day work week! Woo hoo!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
