Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!!!!! We made it. It's actually my first full 5 day work week in a month, it's been rough. Okay not really, but I sure did like my 3 weeks of 4 day work weeks in a row.

Last couple of Friday's I've taken off from blogging, but I'm back and giving you my Friday Favorites.

1.

I was on this girls blog and she introduced me to Kate Davis, I sort of love her voice and she makes play an upright bass totally cool.

2.

Can I tell you how I excited I am that our shows are coming back?! Less than a week away...I can't hardly wait!

Have you seen Blacklist? If you haven't put it on your list of things to watch right now. It's the BEST show ever! I hope this season is as good as last season! FYI: My cousin produces this show, and he's tight lipped as to what happens, but I know he's been working hard at a good season. Go watch it, support my cousin. Even if he didn't produce it, I would still tell you to go watch it, my cousin being involved is just icing on the cake.

Yep we still watch this. This came out about a month or so after Mr. and I got married, it is the first show we picked up as a married couple...we've stuck with it, even when it got sort of bad, we watched it every.single.week. We still love it.

Love this show, I wonder where they are going to take it this year...can't wait to find out!

This doesn't even include the shows that I watch without Mr. I won't bore you with those too.

3.

Love that I get random pictures of what Baby Fox does during the day

4.

And of what Mini Fox does while Baby Fox is at school.

Baby Fox got these as a Halloween gift from my aunt, she was so proud of herself for getting these in her mouth.

 5.

I changed shampoos...okay not really, I just added another one to the mix. I usually switch between Pantene and Head and Shoulders, but I just added TRESemme into the mix and I'm loving it. A new hair scent, who doesn't love that? Also, it doesn't come in a shampoo/conditioner 2 in 1, so I have to use the shampoo and then conditioner and I think my hair is thanking me for it.

I do use that heat protector, and love that too. It smells so good.
And that's it for today, what are your favorite things this week? Hope you have a good weekend. Guess what we have this weekend? Yep you guessed it...another kid birthday party! At least it's not going to be as hot...87° is SOO much better than the 100° weather we were getting this past week...cooler temps, we're ready for you!

Lesson 10: Why We didn't Live Together Before Marriage - Part 2

If you haven't read part 1, click here.

Here are some more of my thoughts on Why We Didn't Live Together Before Marriage - Part 2.

When you are living together for awhile, people start to ask, so when you getting married? I feel that some people may just do it because it's the next logical step, but if they were not living together maybe they wouldn't feel that it was necessary. I really believe that you need to take away all other factors, and really listen to your heart, deep down you know what you need to do, but it isn't always the easy choice.

Not living together gives you something to look forward to after the wedding. It's going to be new and exciting starting your life together, figuring out where everything goes what are the quarks you didn't know about before. You want to make this work, you compromise, you know it's for the long haul. You don't just appease the other person because you've just moved in and you're still in your dating honeymoon phase.  You're married now, I just feel mentally you are thinking a little differently then if you're just dating and moving in together. Also, it's just not another day, when you get back from your honeymoon everything all new and different.

I know for Mr. and me, our relationship was definitely not out of convenience, we were living in different cities and took about 45 minutes to get to each other.  It made us really just appreciate that we were finally married, living together and could see each other everyday. It was like we were having a slumber party, staying up late talking every night. Heck even 10 years later we still stay up late talking every night.

I say, keep something special for when you get married, like living together. You're becoming one, not only in spirit, but also physically. You're moving into one household, giving your relationship the next level of learning about each other and becoming closer. Just remember this lesson, wake up and chose to love your partner each and everyday, even if some days are harder than others.

Mom Mode - Have you Experienced It?

The color is so off on these pictures, but last night when I was editing, I couldn't figure it out and Mr. wanted to watch The Hobbit, so it is what it is. Hopefully you can look past the awful color and see the cute outfit :)

When trying to find an outfit for our family photoshoot (Yep already planning our outfits. I want to do pictures on the beach this year and I know that summer clothes are quickly leaving stores, so I needed to get on it), I ordered a bunch of dresses from Nordstrom and prayed that one of them worked. Well I did find THE dress, but I ordered this one on a whim, I've been wanting a lace dress, and I thought, why not. I found that the white in this wasn't going to match the white in Baby Fox's outfit I had already picked out, but decided I liked it so much I was going to keep it. When Mini Fox's party came alone, I thought it was a bit fancy, so I un-fancied it by pairing it with some casual sandals and only a bracelet. I thought any necklace  I paired it with was going to be too much. Why not add some red lips to go with the ladybug theme.

So this pictures brings me to my next subject, Mom Mode.

That smallish bruise on my calf...have NO idea where that came from...I'm clumsy, did I ever tell you that?

Believe it or not, this bruise is 2 weeks old!

I was taking a shower and was putting lotion on my legs (this is when I find most of my bruises) and saw this huge contusion of a thing. It was the type of bruise that has a hard lump in it, ya know the kind? And I thought, where the HELL did I get this?! You would think I would remember getting something so big and it hurt, boy did it hurt! I tried running down the hallway, and boy did it hurt, I was worried I wasn't going to be able to participate in my 5K.

I thought long and hard about where I could have possibly gotten it. From what I can guess, I got it during Baby Fox's scooter accident? I remember trying to hold Baby Fox, push Mini Fox in the stroller and I had put the scooter on top of the stroller, trying to manage it all, and I remember the scooter falling off the stroller. I do not remember it hitting me in the leg, but it must have. I think I vaguely remember it grazing my leg? Nothing hard enough to create this monstrous contusion!

Enter Mom Mode, you know the mode when all reason goes out the window and your only concern is your kid(s). You'll do anything and everything to keep them safe. I was so concerned about Baby Fox and trying to figure out if we needed to go the ER and calm him down, that I didn't even realize I had been hurt in the process. Good to know that if my kid is hurt that I can get hurt and not know it, the adrenaline pumping through helped I'm sure. That my first instinct is for the well being of my children and to make sure they are safe first and foremost.

When/have you experience Mom Mode?

Birthday Weekend

As you all know, I was busy all last week doing birthday stuff! I actually feel for once that I was ahead of the game on this one. I wasn't frantically running around trying to get last minute things together. Which was a nice switch, not much procrastination for this girl...write that one down in the books! Unfortunately I didn't get too many pictures. I do all this prep and then forget to take pictures.I guess that means I was having a good time celebrating, and enjoying friends and family.

Thursday I took a half day of work, but the best part of working from home? Getting the morning snuggles from this girl.

Thursday night I finished this...I absolutely love the way it came out!

Friday my Dad came over to help with Mini Fox so I could get stuff done.

My mom had to drive out to a doctors appointment, but before she left, she stopped by to help me to go the flower shop to pick out flowers.

LOL, it looks like Mini Fox only has one leg

My sister came over later to help decorate too, this is her and Baby Fox telling each other secrets. He's currently telling her that his best friend is O and he's in love with J...oy, I'm in trouble!

It was hot, hot, hot on Friday, so Mr. took the kids swimming while I got some more party stuff done in the house.

Now that the back yard was a little shaded, the boys put up the shade.

The hammer was a little heavy but he told us if he put it on his shoulder it was easier to carry.

Cuteness overload!

This is the headband I made for Mini Fox for her party, but she doesn't like headbands any more...boo! But I got a quick blurry snap of it at least.

Saturday - Party day! Yay! Everything was set and ready to go in time. Thanks for some family for last minute help.

More pictures as soon as I get the pictures from my friend, I'll recap the whole party. I hope she got some good detail photos, we'll see, fingers crossed, cause mine didn't turn out that great! Next time I throw a party, I need to remember to get better pictures instead of just walking around taking quick snaps of things.

That night we went over to my parents house to watch the ND game and eat dinner. Family selfie! Gotta love my family for indulging me in my obsessive picture taking.

Sunday was spent cleaning up and recovering.

This picture cracks me up, it's kazoo lips.

While waiting for everyone to get there to open gifts, a family selfie

Baby Fox requested to be put upside down
This girl loves her some clothes...I'm in trouble! She had a death grip on her clothes and wouldn't let us touch them.

We asked her where brother was, she takes a break from her clothes, and points to Baby Fox, it was hilarious.

After gifts the kids took a nap, I took a nap on Mr. while he watched football, the perfect afternoon.

It's scorching hot here right now. Swimming was definitely in the cards for us.

Yep, it's 100° out and Baby Fox decided he wanted footie PJ's...crazy man.

And just because I like this picture, I'll end with it.

Here's to being lazy the rest of the week and trying to stay cool. Currently at my house it's 102° with 27% humidity...ugh.

The Last...

I got this blog post from Vanessa and Katie, I've been holding onto the idea for a few weeks now, so here it goes:

The Last:

Person I texted was my cousin about Halloween costumes. She had texted me asking me if I wanted her to buy a ladybug costume she found on her local sale board. I told her that we had decided that Mini Fox was going to be Wonder Woman and our family was going to as good/bad guys. She laughed and said, she JUST bought her daughter (who's 6 weeks older than Mini Fox) a Wonder Woman costume on Etsy...go figure! Great minds think alike!

Movie I watched was Guardians of the Galaxy. We weren't going to watch it, but everyone was saying how good it was...okay by everyone I really mean Bella from Dateless in Dallas and she said it was really good, and she was suprised by that. My parents offered to watch the kids while Mr. and I went on a birthday date. We jumped at a chance to go to dinner and the movies. He didn't want to see a chick flick and I remember Bella saying that she really did enjoy this movie, so I figured, why not. We both loved it and can't wait for the sequel to come out.

Person I talked to on the phone was my Mom. She wanted to know how Baby Fox did at preschool. He had a rough morning but by the time drop off happened he was okay and didn't cry when he got there. Just held the teachers hand, baby steps right?

The last package to arrive was something I bought on a local FB sale board, and when I got it, it was stained. Luckily the girl said she would refund my money if the stain didn't come out in the wash. It's brand new too. This is actually the back, the front has cute little lacing detail. I'm going to be so sad if I have to return it! Any suggestions on getting it out? I have one chance to wash it...

Outfit I wore was my pj's but...yesterday I wore my long gray skirt, black and white striped 3/4 sleeve boat neck shirt, of course my jean jacket and leopard flats.

Thing I cooked was flank steak, carmalized onions, steamed broccoli, and roasted potatoes

Thing I ate was chocolate (thought it would be the above huh?)

Picture I took on my iphone was of me. I was sending this picture to Baby Fox who was crying because he wanted me to take him to preschool. I thought it would cheer him up.

Show I watched was Graceland on USA, you have got to watch it if you don't!

Game I played on my iphone was Free Flow - totally stupid puzzle game, but I can't stop playing, and now they have discovered bonus levels...ugh! At least I can say it gets my brain thinking...or something like that. Have you played?

Okay that's it for this installment. Until next time! Happy Thursday, only one more day till the weekend! Woo hoo!

Again With The Jean Jacket - I need JJA

Seriously guys I need JJA (Jean Jacket Anonymous), it's my go to jacket now and days. I can roll up the sleeves for a casual, it's still 90° out, but my office is cold look and I don't want to look totally crazy. You know, cause rolling up your sleeves makes you look less crazy.

My parents live in a 55 and older apartment complex, they have some pretty cool fountains to take pictures by. I think I might do all my pictures here, do you think the residents will think that's weird?

Hmm...what am I pointing at? Probably something Baby Fox is doing off in the background.

We went to celebrate Mini Fox's birthday at my parents house. Boy was she spoiled!

I tried to make a wreath last night, and guess what happened? I ran out of deco mesh (I just learned this word yesterday, didn't I make it seem like I knew what the heck I was talking about?) and I couldn't finish, man an hour wasted on something I couldn't finish! Boo. I hope that I can salvage what I did do and either buy a complimentary deco mesh or find the same exact one. Keeping my fingers crossed Joann's has it, cause that's the only store I have time to go to, or do you think Hobby Lobby? I'll keep you guys posted.

p.s. I just got the saddest video of Baby Fox crying cause he wanted me to take him to preschool today, break my heart into a million pieces.  At least I have Friday off and can take him then.
