Super Hero Valentine's Day Craft

Baby Fox being in preschool now has Valentine's that he has to prepare, so both Baby Fox and I hit up Pinterest and he picked out what he wanted to do. What do you think it had to do with? Of course super heroes! We used this tutorial. So here is our Super Hero Valentine.

The things you will need:

  • Suckers (Found at CVS, only because we happen to be there, but you can find them anywhere)
  • Stiff Felt (I got them at Michael's by the other soft felt, I sort of had to hunt around, but it really is in the same racks as the soft felt, just have to look and feel everything.)
  • Print Outs, found here
  • X-Large Circle Punch (At Michael's it was $16.99, but I used a 40% off coupon)
  • Ribbon
  • Hole Punch (not pictured)
  • Glue Gun (not pictured)
  • Blank piece of paper (to create a template, not pictured)
  • Pencil

Step 1:

Put your sucker on your blank piece of paper, you're going to need to create a cape template

After I took the picture, I thought it would be easier to do it in the upper left corner.

Actually truth be told, after I took this picture and cut it out, it was the wrong size, so I had to do another one.

Step 2:

Cut out cape template

Note: The OCD in me really wanted to make it even, so after Baby Fox cut it out, I actually folded it in half and then trimmed the sides so that they were even.

Step 3:

Put cape template on stiff felt and cut out. I do not have a light colored fabric pencil (actually I do, but didn't want to use it and have those lines on the cape), so I just started cutting.

Step 4:

Use your hole punch to make a hole at the top of the cape

The kid loved using the whole punch.

Note: Apparently we don't own a regular hole punch, so my three ring one had to do, I would not suggest it, you can't see anything when using that thing!

Step 5:

Get to use that circle punch I've always wanted to get, but never had a reason to get one until now. This part was Baby Fox's favorite, he kept saying "easy peasy"

Step 6:

Glue the logo onto the cape.

Step 7:

Attach the cape to the sucker and add a ribbon, so the cape doesn't fall off (wouldn't want that to happen, that would just be embarrassing)

Step 8:

Using that hole punch again, put two holes in the label

Step 9:

Add your name on the back, so people know who gave it to them and attach to the sucker

Step 10 (optional)

Add a dab of glue to attach the label. Some of our labels were twisting so I glued some of them down.

Final Step:

Repeat for the rest of the suckers

The printer I used was out of colors, so the green turned out blue and the red turned out pink. I figured a bunch of 3/4 year olds wouldn't really know the difference.

Baby Fox loved doing these and even though it took me a little longer to get them done, they were super easy! In all honesty you could have used the soft felt and no ribbon or the hard felt with ribbon, whatever your budget allows!

We also, and when I saw we, I really mean I was in charge of bringing some fruit for the kids. So I sent Mr. to the store to find a cute container and he delivered the cutest holder.

So cute right? It's a cupcake paper, although it's a little thicker than a normal wrapper, I wasn't sure if the paper would hold up against the fruit, so I cut out some wax paper to put in it.

Then I cut some strawberries in heart shapes...okay, fine I really just cut the stem off, but instead of cutting straight off I cut it off in a "V" shape. Added a few raspberries and I'm done. Super easy and cute healthy snack for the kids. Cause I figure I can balance the sugar from the suckers with just natural sugar in the fruit, haha.

Have you done any Valentine's this year? Link them below!

This is the first year I've made actual Valentine's something, previous years I've just done cards.

Help My iPhone Broke!

Yep, it happened again. I'm really re-thinking this whole I am old enough to have an iPhone. Seriously! First the whole incident with the water thing happened. Then I never told you, back in December (now I could blame Mr. but I won't, I'll take responsibility), I had some lip gloss that lost it's lid. And instead of throwing it away...I just kept it in the cubby on the side of my middle console that I NEVER use. It just sat there, unprotected, but it worked, when I needed some lip gloss it was just always there. It was there for about a year. Well something must have happened and it leaked EVERYWHERE. Seriously, after that long and it decided to leak now? Anyway, I was driving and Mr. put my phone in that little cubby, because he thinks it's a good phone holder. And then the speaker got clogged with lip gloss. Oops! But wait before that or during that, I'm not exactly sure when it happened...I dropped my iPhone and the back cracked! Seriously, the back cracked, I guess I am thankful. After that really long intro, let's get to it.

You will not believe how easy this was! Seriously, Mr. bought a back from eBay for $4, no joke. He also bought a tool kit for about the same price.

Doesn't this look almost like the original? Crazy right?
We followed this guy's tutorial.

This is my iPhone, can't even tell it's cracked can ya? But it made a funny crunchy noise when I pushed down on the back...not good right?

Take off the cover and this is what I got...crazy!

Here's how to fix it

Step 1:

Using the handy dandy took kit you just got, use the screw driver to take out the screws.

TIP #1: We use clear plastic cups to hold the screws. That way you can always seem them, and they won't roll away. Those things are small!

Step 2:

Take off the back

Tip #2: We (when I say we, I really mean Mr.) used gloves in case the glass shattered any more, we didn't want tiny shards of glass in Mr.'s hands.

You have to use a little bit of pressure, but the back does come off really easily.

Step 3:
Slip on the new backing and put the screws back in. That easy...I know right? Why are you paying someone $25+ to do something that takes minutes to do and is less then a $5 fix.

Okay so now onto the more complicated fix. The speaker. Literally you have to take out every single thing in your iPhone to fix the speaker. So of course do this at your own risk. Mr. followed this guy's tutorial.

See all those plastic cups holding the individual screw sets? Yep, also helpful for putting back together.

I don't have a step by step, it took him about an hour 15 minutes, but he said now that he knows how to do it, it would probably only take 20 minutes. So the next time I screw up my speaker, 20 minutes :) Oh and the speaker was about $5. The guy at the shop said it was a $40 fix...woo hoo for having a handy husband.

Now all Mr. has to do is replace the front screen and he'll have put together a whole iphone, hopefully that doesn't happen though. Fingers crossed, so far not even a year into it and I've broken it several times. Oops!

Hopefully you aren't as clumsy as I am with my phone and won't need this, but just in case...here's how to fix if you get your phone wet.

Mommy/Daughter and Daddy/Son Weekend

Another weekend, it really does go by too quick doesn't it? We had a fairly good weekend. Baby Fox is STILL recovering...luckily the doc said that it was just a virus nothing too serious.

So Baby Fox woke up with his fever back in full force on Friday morning. Seriously it was like a repeat of the previous week! So Mr. had to come get my car from the van spot (because I have the car seat) so he could take Baby Fox to the doctors. Then he forgot to drop my car off, so for the 10 minutes I couldn't get a hold of him...I was sitting at his car, with no key to get in, wondering what to do. Take a selfie of course.

Friday after work, Mini Fox wasn't happy because I was making her put shoes on. So of course we took a picture, haha.

Saturday morning, snuggles and cartoon watching. I curled my hair before the kids got up. Did I tell you I got my hair cut the other day, and I HATE it...yep I can actually use that word. I was trying someone new, and the hair cut is just awful. So curling it just makes me feel better about the awful hair cut.

Mini Fox and I headed off to a birthday party. Funny thing, this party was at the apartment complex Mr. and I used to live at before we bought our house. Totally random, since the party throwers don't live here, just know someone that does.

The birthday girls' mama, we would have taken a picture with the birthday girl, but well...she was sleeping! Yep just sleeping on the chairs, everyone just walking past and talking...silly girl. I can't imagine either one of my kids doing this!

Some of the girls

I really wore the wrong outfit, it was super hot...I was roasting!
They had a shaved ice truck come

And then we found something that Mini Fox doesn't like...I thought she was really going to go for it, but the spoon just touched her tongue and she immediate pushed it away, didn't even get a bite into her mouth.

Ah, the birthday girl is up!

She's not so sure about this cake thing.

Happy Birthday sweet baby girl, I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for you!

You're probably wondering why Baby Fox and Mr. didn't come with us to the party? Well they were busy at the Monster Truck Rally! They got a pit pass so they could get up close and personal.

He had a blast, but because he was still sick, they had to leave a little early. But they had a blast!

While they were here, I went home put Mini Fox down for a nap and then met up with my mom for some shopping and dinner.

Shopping
Waiting for our table. We went to Cheesecake Factory, yum!

Hard to get all three of us in the same picture. Mini Fox likes the brown bread better. I don't think I even tried the brown bread until I was in college, then wondered why I never ate it! Mini Fox knows what's up.

The boys were sending us pictures throughout the night, Mini Fox got a kick out of all the pictures.

Seeing pictures of her brother makes her happy.

Sunday was low key. Baby Fox was still a little under the weather, so they stayed low and I went to visit my parents and some of their friends that were visiting. They were originally going to come see us at the house, but since Baby Fox isn't feeling well, we cancelled it, but then I surprised them and took Mini Fox to them. Because let's face it, they all want to see her the most :)

My parents gave a tour of their apartment complex, guess where we are here?

While we were doing that, Baby Fox got a picnic carpet lunch (he said he should get one because he was sick and it was a special occasion)

At least there is cut up apple..that's healthy right? LOL, boy lunch.

Mini Fox and I hit up the store, we are waiting for the deli, I seem to always take selfies by the wine...Not sure how that happens, seeing as that I can't drink wine, LOL.

Hopefully Baby Fox wakes up today feeling okay and can go to school. He misses all of his school friends!
