Kitchen Remodel

Hello Foxy Friends! I did a video collab last week with a few other Youtubers where we all showed you our kitchens. I decided, since we got our kitchen remodeled last year, I realized I never showed you the after, so I did a whole video on our kitchen remodel. But for those that don't have time to watch the video, here is our Kitchen Remodel through pictures.

Here is the before.

Why did we get our kitchen remodeled? Several reasons, but mostly the cabinets were 40 years old...they were starting to fall apart. So we had one drawer break completely, that we just lived with. See that missing drawer? Yep we lived with that for a year or so...Plsu the color they chose was an off creamy white which I have always hated.

Then the drawer next to it broke too, which was also a utensil drawer as well. Girl has got to have a working utensil drawer. THEN the kitchen faucet broke. The handle kept flying off, so you would go to turn the water on, and the handle would fly off and go flying across the counter...funny and shocking all at the same time.

And then we can't forget that the previous owners painted the cabinets and there were paint drips...and the hinges weren't put on correctly, so there were gaps in the cabinets (see cabinet to the far right)...and they weren't straight. You can't really tell based off of the angle...but trust me, it's bad.

We also had this wine fridge we wanted to get rid of and we decided to turn it into a trash drawer, since we were using a dog food container for the past 7 years, haha.

So how did they start? They took measurements, and took about 8 weeks to make the cabinets and drawers. Then they came and took off the doors and took out the drawers. They prepped everything. See the wall  in the back of the upper cabinets? They used to be dry wall, and that always bother Mr. so they put up a fake back wall to make it look like real cabinets. This was the prep.

The cabinet above the microwave and oven, also had this random divider up the middle, so it made is super hard to get anything in there.

When they painted the cabinets, they also brought the drawers to paint so everything would match with the same paint lot.

Here are the painted cabinets. Looks so good right?

And the finished kitchen. No more broken drawers.

Now the wine fridge is a drawer, which has been the BEST addition to the remodel.

So there you have it, our kitchen remodel.

Oh and I did a video on the kitchen if you want to see/hear an explanation.

House Edition - Mini Fox's Room

You know Andrea asked for a house tour and I realized I never gave you the tour of Mini Fox's room. So you're going to get two posts today. One of just Mini Fox's room and then I'll summarize it all for you in the next post...which will go live a couple of minutes after this one. I figure I gave every other room it's own post, Mini Fox deserved her own post too.

I couldn't get her whole room in one shot, so I had to take two, funny I should have stitched these two pictures together, they almost match perfectly. But you can pretty much get the idea. We used Baby Fox's old baby furniture, and bought Baby Fox the new furniture when Mini Fox came along. When we found out we were having a girl, we definitely wanted to use pink in the room, and I figured out that I wanted to do pink and grey. See her letters across her room? Mr. and I made those and you can find that tutorial here.

On the back wall is this needle point that my best friend made for our wedding. We never had a spot to put it before, and loved that we could incorporate it in her room.

This was a hand me down from a co-worker of my Dad's. Actually we got it when we had Baby Fox and NEVER used it. Seriously it just sat downstairs collecting dust. Once Mini Fox came around I thought it would be nice to actually use it. Nursing wasn't scary any more, and I thought it would be nice to nurse her in it. We have a very handy friend and she showed me how to make slip covers. My mom and I went to JoAnn's and picked out this fuzzy material, I forgot to take the picture, but the other side is grey, so we can mix and match. Turns out it's way easier to make a slip cover then I thought. I should have taken pictures as I was doing it, but well, I wasn't sure if it was going to work, and just wanted to get it done. But I love the little ruffle detail around the back cushion.

I was going to make a quilt using the same fabric from her letters from her canvas wall hangings, but well, time got away from me. I have all of the fabric, sitting in my craft cabinet...maybe this year I'll try to do that...hmmm...

Mr. actually found this at Hobby Lobby, one day  he just came home with it. We thought it was the perfect thing to hang above her bed, because we both knew I didn't have time to make the quilt. Actually I was going to do it before she was born, you know those 4 weeks that you get before baby comes? Yeah...she came 2 weeks early and ruined those plans, haha.

This is her dresser/changing table. See the covering on the changing pad? Yep same material used for her chair, and our friend also made a grey matching one...see I told you, she was a handy lady. She knows how to sew everything. Of course our snowboards live in her room. We had them in Baby Fox's room until we switched him to a big boy bed and we didn't want him to accidentally knock them over on him. We though it appropriate to keep the tradition alive and put them in her room for safe keeping.

Mr. actually bought these frames to go in our bathroom, to sort of go with the pictures we have hanging in there of Baby Fox, but it turns out these were way too small and didn't look right, instead I put them in her room. I should probably put other photos in it, but I just love these ones so much.

And I"m going to show you the ridiculous amount of clothes Mini Fox has...seriously most of these clothes are 18-2T, so they all pretty much fit her right now. I've given so many clothes away. But on a positive note, we have so many generous family and friends who have given us/donated so many things to Mini Fox.

P.S. the blow up mattress "bed" is so awesome. It's this collapsible frame that can fit a blow up mattress so it's off the ground. Think...of those EZ-Ups, it's like that in how it accordions out, but instead of a canvas it's flat and you put a blow up mattress on it. This is the one we bought, but it looks like QVC has the same exact one too. It's pretty awesome and it makes your guests feel like you're sleeping on an actual bed.

This is the space just to the right of her closet and the door. I originally put this there to see if I liked having a bookshelf here. I wanted to get a white one, and this was one I bought from Target when I moved out of my parents house, it was here for a temporary thing, but almost 2 years later, it's more like it collects stuff...I really need to go through it, but well, this is real life, I'm showing you what it really looks like, not what I want it to look like, haha.

and there you have it, Mini Fox's room.  Hope you enjoyed her room tour! Click here for our other room tours.

TBT: House Edition - Master Bedroom

I haven't done one of these in a while, so I figure today was a good day to do another one. We're moving on to my bedroom...

What can I saw to go along with the brown, green, and orange we're going to add the colors purple and lavendar.

I'm not even joking, this is what it looked like. More wires coming from every which way, we actually ended up just shoving all of the wires into the wall and patching the holes, so those wires are forever going to be with us...

Just showing you, well two things, how dirty the house was when we moved in and two the different color walls. For whatever reason I didn't really take a picture of the dark purple wall, other than the picture above, which was done at night and in the semi-dark.

The carpet it supposed to be white...those are just dirt specks, not part of the carpet!

Of course we primed like crazy! Our middle name was prime, we did two coats on every wall.

Yes that's right, the carpet went right into that fabulous bathroom, ew gross, carpet in the bathroom, next to the bathtub too (another post)

Painted...what color? Of course some version of brown.

New baseboards...doesn't it look so much nicer?

next up, the fireplace. Actually what happened was we were getting the carpet installed fairly soon after this and we needed to get that fireplace done, so after the guys finished our bathroom, we asked them if they could do our fireplace as well. They ordered the Travertine and had it done in a few days.

Doesn't it look great? Oh and you can see the new carpet too...guess you know when I took this picture

Next up, this door...if you look out of the door, you can see that it goes to nothing...

This looking up at that same window...not safe right?!? Well when we got quotes to fix this problem we discovered a whole host of other problems and to us we didn't think we would really use it and didn't want the maintence of it and to buy the trex cost double the price of wood but if we used the wood we'd have to treat it at least once a year and we knew we wouldn't do that...so down it came.

We just put in a window. We decided on a picture window in the middle because we have a pretty fantastic view of the mountains. (of course I can't find one picture of our view)

So the day that they did this, we realized that the contractor we hired was installing the windows wrong and we decided to fire him..and luckily we found someone else to finish up the job and he covered everything up before a HUGE storm hit the next night!  Phew...

Doesn't it look great? So much better right? We put that paper up on the window because we lived without window dressings for 2 years, yes you read that right!

But they were worth the wait!

A picture of us after they were finished installing the carpet. After 5 months of living on the 1st floor of our house, we were finally going to be able to move upstairs! Such an exciting day.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway I'm participating in!

TBT: House Edition - Guest Room

If you missed any of the previous TBT: House Editions click here.

Next room up, the guest room. This was one of the last rooms to get painted, since we were living in this room, while we were painting the other rooms.

So which color of the rainbow was this room you might ask?

That's right there was an accent wall of deep red, the other part was this the ugliest brown color you can imagine. The pictures don't really show you how ugly it really was.

We decided to paint this room the color that pretty much all of downstairs was getting, but like all the other rooms, we had to first prime this room. Ah, much better...a blank canvas.

I am killing this look, throw away paper Home Depot hat (backwards of course, cause why would you wear it forward?), shorts I found in the boys department when I was in high school, and doesn't everyone paint in flip flops?

Just keep painting, just keep painting, my life every daylight hour. It's hard to paint when your natural light goes away, you can't really tell what's been painted and what hasn't, surprisingly.

The finished product, much better! although this lighting makes it look green, it's actually a nice tan color.

As our Christmas gift that year, my parents gave us a bed (minus the mattress), curtains and roman shades.

I was really pregnant at this point, and wasn't allowed on the ladders to help. I was a really good picture taker and pointer.

We decided that since this room has the french doors on it, that if people were spending the night that they were going to want some privacy, so we decided to put drapes on them, so they could be drawn at night for privacy.

Apparently my mom likes to stand in that pose. FYI: my mom and I are exactly the same height
Next week, I'll show you the kids rooms and this guest room all finished and decorated.
