An All Family Weekend

I've had a rough couple of weeks. This past weekend was helping me get through it all, knowing that I was going to get some good family time in. One of my cousins is a senior in high school and the other is a Junior and and I told them that I would go see them play this season. I picked a date that worked with our schedule and it happened to be a rivalry game, so the Varsity Team parents organized a tailgate, although not so much tailgate as they had a taco guy come in. But it was fun hanging out with everyone beforehand.

Can you guess which cousin is mine? haha...

The other one is standing right near the "3".

A lot of eating of candy and popcorn happened by this guy.

It got a little cold, so he bundled up, 5 minutes later everything came back off cause he was hot, go figure.

We actually left at half time, not by choice, my Dad wanted to leave and we all carpooled, so we had to follow. The score when we left, yep that 28, is our score. The end score was 7 to 35.

On our way out we saw a firetruck and I was having Baby Fox pose by it and as we were walking away the firemen were coming back from wherever they were, and asked Baby Fox if he wanted to get in...pretty awesome way to end the night.

We stayed with my aunt, Mr. was sick, so he stayed behind with my aunt and Mini Fox. Eating like a big girl.

Another reason we went out there was to see Cutie #1 (from Cousin #4) in his football game.

He's number 26
Mini Fox wanted to play too

It was 91° out, it was hot, Baby Fox helped keep Nana cool.

Matching shirts, although it didn't help them at all this weekend.

Baby Fox absolutely adores his older cousin and calls him My Buddy.

Sunday was family picture day! I decided I wanted to get them way earlier this year because I want to take advantage of the Cyber Monday sale at Shutterfly this year. Last year everything was on sale and then on Cyber Monday you got an additional 50% off, so hoping they have the same sale this year.

Waiting for the photographer

I thought this was a good sign of things to come...but this was the ONLY smile we got all day, the rest of the time she was stone faced serious. OH well!

A train! Baby Fox loved it.

Here's a sneak peak, the very last photo taken by iPhone, and we're all soaked, minus Mini Fox, she wanted nothing to do with sand, so we held her the whole time. I can't wait to get the photos back!

Afterwards we went to lunch at this cute cafe. People must have thought I put this much make-up on for Sunday brunch everyday...lol.

It was a great weekend with family. Everyone in my family is finally getting over being sick, so hopefully this week is much better then last week!

A Look Into My Closet

We are all having so much fun with the Fall Challenge, linking up with each other that we decided to create a link up so we could keep the fun going. This week the top is a peek into our closets/organizational tips. I can't say much for the organizational tips, but I can show you my closet.

When we moved into our house, Mr. re-did the closet for me, and gave me as much hanging room as possible. And then I bought those small thin hangers so I could get as much in as possible. I might have a problem. You decide.

Right Side

Left Side

So let's break it down:

The top rack is my clothes

1) Tank Tops
2) Short Sleeve Tops
3) Long sleeve shirts and blouses
4) Sweaters and jackets

The bottom rack is for Mr., although I've taken over some of his rack too

1) Short sleeve shirts
2) Dress Shirts
3) Polo Shirts
4) See Below

This is the part that I've taken over of Mr.'s rack

I don't ask for much, just some space for:
1) Skirts
2) Shorts

Now onto the back wall and the left side

1) Dresses: this includes the 7 weddings I've been a bridesmaid, and all the random dress I've worn to weddings, I never get rid of a fancy dress, you just never know.
2) My pants
3) Mr.'s pants
4) Mr.'s shoes
5 and 6) My shoes (I have a problem: See below)

See what I've showed you? Those are Mr.'s the rest are mine...yikes!

Under the dresses

Under the pants

These are under Mr.'s shirts

I can't forget my scarves, this time last year I had about 2 scarves...I've really added to my collection

and one last spot in my bathroom, under my sink.

Let me break it down for you:

For the jewelry I've gotten so many over the years that the one drawer I had them in wasn't cutting it, so I put them in baggies and then put them in the show boxes

The necklaces, keeps them untangled from each other and I can grab a baggie and see what's in it easily

The bracelets in a different box

The rest of those drawers in there, are pretty much a free for all, I admit it, I need to get better, but it just hasn't happened it. Maybe one day...

So that's my closet and my organization tips (okay just one, but it's something).

Now go check out some other bloggers and see what they're closets look like. I'm most excited for Deena, I've seen her closet in the background, but never in pictures.

Patience

Patience, it's something we all lose at some point. You can feel it slipping away, your toddler is driving you bonkers, pushing every button in exactly the right sequence to make you want to scream really loud. I don't think I have any secret to keep my patience in check. Here are three things that I do help me with my patience.

1.

Sometimes I have to take a step back and remove myself from the situation for a minute, recollect my thoughts and go back in to deal with whatever it is that I have to deal with.

2.

Keep things in perspective. What does my child really want, and why is he/she behaving this way? Sometimes it is as simple as realizing that naps didn't happen, so they're just tired. Trying to get to root cause of why they are lashing out at you.

3.

The last thing I do is talk to him. I just tell him what's going on, and why what he is doing is bothering me, or how his behavior is affecting those around him. Sometimes it works, other times, I have to tag team Mr. and really get out of the house. But that's happened maybe once? And then when I think back to what it was that made me lose my patience, I usually can refer back to lesson 2, and realize that oh yea, he didn't get that nap, or he went to bed super late last night.

Not really helpful, I think we as Mamas just need to do whatever it is what need to do to get to the next minute, the next hour, the next day. Some days are better than others and we can't beat ourselves up over it. They won't remember this one incident, but they will remember all the good times and all the hugs and kisses and the love that they feel. Not one moment in time. At least that's what I tell myself.

How do you keep from losing your patience with your toddler?  Check out the other mama's blogs for their tips.  And be sure to link up with us below if you also have a post on this topic.

In the difficulty of motherhood, it's so important to find other mamas to relate to.  Toddlers can be a handful and leave you wondering what to do next.  This series is here to help you navigate through toddlerhood while being able to relate to other mamas going through the same thing.  We may not always know what we are doing but we give it our best shot anyway.  Come back each week to check out our new topic and read along with the other hosts of our One Year and Beyond series!
