Link Up: Style Perspectives Week 1 and Hair Challenge Week 9

Hi Foxy Fashion People! I know I usually have a Hair Challenge link up, but for the next few months I'm going to forgo those because we're starting our Styles Perspective Series with The Blended Blog! I'll still be recapping my hair, but I don't think you can have two link ups in one post, that's just confusing.

In case you missed the announcements, the ladies over at The Blended Blog are hosting a fun series where each of the contributors pick their signature style, and then the rest of us are going to come up with our version of that outfit. Here are the prompts:

This week was styling a wrap/outer layers. I know that many of us live in different climates, I'm excited to see how everyone styles this prompt. As you know I live where there isn't many seasons, right now it's mid-70's, my favorite time of year. So I decided to style a Kimono. Normally I would pair this with shorts, but at the time I took these pictures I was cold, you know cause 70° is cold here.

Of course I had to do my hair for the prompt too, I did a fishtail half crown, and then added a flower to it, I thought it was very Spring of me.

Now onto my hair styles for the week:

Last Wednesday I actually woke up a little early, okay only 8 minutes early, but I figured that would be enough time to curl my hair. I plug in my curling iron, get the first two sections curled and then suddenly my curls aren't as curly. I keep going...they're getting looser...yep the curling iron turned off! So I try to turn it back on...it turns on and then off 10 seconds later...boo, there's something wrong with my curling iron. So what did I do? I tried to curl the rest of my head with the dissipating heat and quick as I could. Which pretty much left me with half a head of curly hair and half a head of semi-straight hair.

Curly side...

Not so curly...oops!

You can really see it here...haha, just had to laugh all day.

So come Thursday, one would think I would have fixed the non-curl right? Nope too lazy. So I put it up in a braid and hoped no one would notice. Not my favorite look,  I had a really cool style in my head...and it didn't work out...oh well, live and learn.

Thursday night after my shower I decided to try a Nicole's blow out method. This was the result.

I think it turned out great, I did use Bed Head Super Star* which I mentioned in this post. I think between that and Nicole's method it made my hair super shiny and smooth and soft. I did this right before bed, so this is what the blowout looked like just after waking up. Literally, I woke up, grabbed my phone and took a picture, this is not brushed out at all.

I promise I'm not naked, there are PJ's under there
Even though I had this nice blow out hair do, I decided since I had the day off and the kids were napping to play around with my extensions and doing my hair with them in. I loved having the extra thickness, and length.

How cool is this style? She considers it a back to school style, which seems a little fancy and trying too hard for school, but whatever floats your boat.

Saturday we didn't have anything going on, so before the kids woke up I did this style. I absolutely LOVE it, and will definitely be doing this one again!

Sunday I met up with a friend at Burke Williams, so I knew I was going to wash my hair there, so when I woke up on Sunday, my hair was super dirty. And what do you do when you have super dirty hair? You throw it up in a braided crown.

So that's all of my hair styles! Lots happening in this post! Come back next week because the Girls and I might have a nice giveaway for you all, and an extra bonus for those that participate in the link up! Next week it's all about shades of pink.

Craft Time: How To Make a Burlap Wreath

Hi Foxy Crafters! I told you last week I would have a tutorial up for you on how to do a basic Burlap Wreath. I noticed that  a lot of burlap wreath tutorials were sort of confusing. I know when I went to make mine, I had all of the materials, was all set to go, but then couldn't find a tutorial good enough that I could follow it. Perhaps it's just the way I learn, so I'm breaking it down for you! I hope this helps and makes you all want to go out and make one for yourself. Let's get started.

Materials Needed:

3 15 foot Burlap Ribbon Rolls (I used 3, but if want a tighter wreath like this, then you'll need more)
1 Wire Wreath
Some string or floral wire.

Directions:

Step 1:

Cut a bit of the floral wire (or string) and fold the burlap in half (some people fold in fourths, I prefer half).

Step 2:

String floral wire through the burlap and attach to the wire wreath. I like to attach to a vertical pole (and the inner most horizontal circle)  I like to anchor the burlap to something on the wreath so there isn't much slipping.

Attach where I am pointing

Step 3:

Make a loop with the burlap and loop through the outter most ring, where I am pointing to below

Then make another loop and loop through the middle ring, and again make another loop and loop through the inner most ring.

Step 4:

Twist the burlap a little and then make a loop and loop through the outter ring.

Make another loop and loop through the middle ring, and another loop and loop through the inner most ring.

And keep going like this till you get around. As you finish each roll of burlap I like to tie it down and then tie the new one down as well. Keeps it more stable in my opinion. And the finished product!

Cost Breakdown:

Wire Wreath: $3.99
Burlap Ribbon: $4.99 (x3) - On Sale At Hobby Lobby - Originally $9.99
Floral Wire: $3.99

Total for the wreath: $22.86 (plus tax)

And of course I made a little video for you of the whole process. Cause why not right?

If you make one yourself, let me know and tag me social media! Have fun crafting!

February In Numbers

Happy Leap Year Day! That's probably not a thing, but hey, I'm making it a thing! Today I'm linking up with Deena for my month in numbers.

7 - The number of accidents Mini Fox had before she didn't have an accident. She is totally different than Baby Fox in that girl can hold her pee! She only had to pee 4 times on Friday, we almost gave up on Saturday, because she showed NO signs of wanting to go pee on the toilet. On Saturday we almost gave up and Mini Fox said that she didn't want underwear, but then last minute changed her mind. So we said Saturday was the last day, and then just before dinner, she said she had to go, we took her and no accident trying to get to the potty!

1 - The number of nights that Mini Fox didn't have an accident. Seriously she went from not even getting it, to it clicking and she woke up Sunday morning called out to us that she had to go potty, woke up with a dry diaper and then just went potty. It was crazy! We remembered that Baby Fox got interested in potty training watching a Daniel Tigers Neighborhood potty episode, we found it on Netflix and played it for Mini Fox and she all of a sudden got it, crazy right?

2 - The number of birthday parties we went to this month

8 - The number of allergy shots I got...way down from last month and the month before! woo hoo! Pretty soon it's going to be 4 and it's going to be awesome!

5 - The number of times I got to work out! 2 times at the gym and 3 runs in. So excited to get back at it!

14 - The number of selfies I took this month, way down from previous months...disappointing...

31 - The number of days next month I am going to attempt to wear everything in my closet. I figure I'll never do it if I don't put it out here on the blog. So I'm following Lana and Abbie in their quest to wear everything in their closet. While I might not be able to do that, I'm going to at least attempt to do it for March. So there you go, it's out there! If you want to take a peek into my closet, click here. So now you know what I'm up against.

4ish - Well technically 2 full videos and 2 1 minutes videos, but I did a Make-Up Haul and a Beauty Box Unboxing on my YouTube Channel. If you haven't stopped by, go check out some videos and say hi and subscribe!

1 - Pinterest craft been there done that!

21 - Hair Styles done for my Hair Challenge!

5,000,0000 - Okay that might be an exaggeration, but it feels like it, but it's the number of times my kids made me smile because they were smile. It's contagious, cheesy I know. But we'll go with it.

These were taken last week.

Cause everyone wearing a diaper and cowboy boots right?

1.5 - The number of hours that Baby Fox climbed on the rock wall and he wanted to keep going, but we made him leave.

I think that's all I have for this month. Now go check out what everyone else is up to!

Friday Favorites #58

In case you missed it this week:

Monday: Weekend Recap

Pictures of these two...I love getting pictures of them when I'm away from home.

My Dad took Mini Fox to the petting zoo on Tuesday.

While this guy got to go to Disneyland. Can we say SPOILED!

I went to a committee meeting for a non-profit fundraising gala I am helping to organize, and got this picture from Mr. Playing dress up, they love it.

I think this definitely is worth a mention in my Favorites, next week the ladies over at The Blended Blog are starting a new Perspective Style Series. How it works: Each week a different Contributor decided what her own style was and what she was going to style. Then the rest of us are going to use that prompt and make it our own, so essentially you'll get to see 15 different woman's perspective on the same outfit. Sounds fun right? Come join us in the link up! No Blog, No problem use #theblendedblogstyle on IG, FB and Twitter. What are you waiting for, the first prompt is Layers...now go layer up and get ready to post on Wednesday! Here are the prompts:

Is anyone else excited for this? Starts today! As soon as the kids go down for a nap, you know where I'll be! Of course Mr. isn't out of town this weekend, so I guess no binge watching for me, haha.

In other news, we're attempting at the whole potty training thing this weekend. I have tomorrow off, so we are going to attempt three day training. Wish me luck! Happy Friday!

February Target Beauty Box

Hi Foxy Ladies (okay I'm assuming everyone reading is a woman, and if you're a man reading this, sorry about that, let me know in the comments and I'll think of something else for tomorrow).

I finally got my hot little hands on a Target Beauty Box! Say what?! I know, they usually sell out before I can get one, so I was super excited when I got one. Don't know what it is? It's sort of like Ipsy, Birchbox, etc where they give you samples of make-up/beauty products for a low price. The Target one is $7. Here's what it looked like when I got it. Wait, first if you don't want to read through it, I made my very first Unboxing video, it's at the bottom, so just scroll down if you want to see that instead. Okay, now go look at what I got :)

And the most important part, what I got inside: I got 10 things in this box.

Let's break it down (you knew I was going to do that right?)

I got this two small shampoo and conditioner bottles. They smell exactly like coconuts, what I was expecting I'm not sure, I'll give it a try, but in general I don't like the smell of coconut.

Then I got this Texture Mist, I have no idea how it works, but I'll figure it out. It goes with my Hair Challenge I've been doing, I'll keep you posted.

I got this Vera Wang perfume, it smells really delicated and nice. Not very overpowering, definitely something I could/am going to wear. Perfect for the Spring.

Some hand lotion, again a very nice mild fragrance.

Also got something for my nails, some of those stickers, they have a cute floral print, following the Spring theme they seemed to have sent.

A lip balm repair, this one has no scent.

I got this BB Cushion, this is probably something I will not try out. It has SPF in it, which I'm allergic to, so I'll probably give it to my sister.

Hydrating night creme, has a very faint scent.

And last but not least a little shower poof...not sure what these are called, but I definitely wanted one of these, now to go get some shower gel, haha. Maybe it will be in my next Target Box, lol.

At the very bottom of the box was a card with the name of everything in the box and what it was.

I of course made a video of everything that I got too :)

Have you ever gotten a Target Beauty Box, what are your thoughts?
