Pattern Mixing and Hair Challenge Week 30

Hello Foxy Fashion Friends! Another summer day, and it's starting to heat up where I live. Usually we get the heat later in the season and it goes on and on until Halloween, and even then sometimes we're in shorts and tank tops for Thanksgiving. Anyway...I actually followed The Blended Blog style prompt, pick, pair, share.

I bought these shorts at Old Navy about a month or so ago, they were $10, I figured for $10 I would give them a go. I think that Whitney actually bought these shorts and ended up returning them. Although browsing her site I can't find it...hmm...was it you? Anyway, I saw them and thought of her, so let's just go ahead and give her credit.

I've been seeing a lot of mixing patterns and I think it looks great on EVERYONE...but then never really did try it myself. Until this weekend that is! It was 100°+ and humid as all heck. So what better than shorts and the lightest, flowiest (yep just made that word up) shirt ever.

I figured for my hair I wanted it up, but didn't want to just throw it in a pony tail so I created some knots in my hair and pinned them down my head. I think it turned out pretty cute, considering I had two seconds to get ready.

In other hair news...I actually did my hair this week! What? I actually did it four times to be exact!

The first time was to Baby Fox's graduation/performance. It was hotter than heck (same days as mixing patterns outfit), the performance was outside and I just wanted it up. But I had about 6 seconds to get ready, so I did a fun twisted side braid and called it a day. I got a ton of compliments on it, and it really did take me...okay maybe 30 seconds to do. Of course I forgot to take a picture when there was still light out, so this is how it looked after being in the hot heat for 3 hours.

Saturday we were on our way to dinner, and my hair was a mess and in a pony tail and I couldn't have that, so I grabbed a few bobby pins on my way out the door, and did this while I was sitting in between the kids car seats, with no mirror, so apparently the trick to doing a messy bun is not having a mirror. Could be higher on my head, but eh.

Monday I was SUPER late for work, like I woke up when I was supposed to be driving to the vanpool spot. Yikes! Luckily I made it, but that meant I didn't get a chance to throw it up, since I was on day 3 hair and it really need to not be down. I magically found 2 bobby pins in my purse and did a simple side swept braid.

Now it's Tuesday and I have day 4 hair, but I knew I didn't want to wash it the night before because I was going to have a hard workout on Tuesday, so I did a crown braid. Good 'ol trusty crown braid.

My head looks so small...I wonder if it looks like this in real life...

What have you been wearing this week?

Pick, Pair, Share and Hair Challenge Week 28

Hello Foxy Fashion Friends! Another Wednesday here and another week of Pick, Pair, Share. Have you been participating at all? I hope this has helped you get ready in the morning to come up with some fun creative summer outfits! Here's the prompt in case you missed it.

This week I decided to do create a fun date night outfit using the prompts. Picked the light pink, with a leopard pattern and I'm featuring a skirt. Of course what other skirt would I pick than my tulle skirt? My most favorite date night skirt...maybe ever in the history of the world...

This time I took a rocker ballerina look, is that possible? I'm not sure, but that's how I felt when wearing it, so we'll go with it.

I just love these leopard shoes, they are super comfortable (as comfortable as heels get), and it just adds a little something to the outfit.

I just love how delicate the necklace is with this outfit.

Of course onto the hair, I tried this hair style. It was a box fishtail braid...hard to do on myself, but I think it turned out pretty good. Would love to try it on someone else's hair...any takers?

As far as hair styles goes this week, I was pretty darn lazy I was sick for most of the week, so that makes it hard to want to do anything creative. I did the same half top knot twice and then I did my half braid tucked into the back of my hair...so nothing new to report. Darn, maybe I'll get ambitious again this weekend. Anyway, I was channeling my inner ballerina and trying to twirl while smiling and using a remote control to take the pictures...and well they all turned out horrible. Of course I'm sharing the least offensive one with you. P.S. I was not meant to be a ballerina...I have horrible balance.

If you could chose, what prompts would you pick? Use #theblendedblogstyle to show us what you picked!

Style Perspectives: A Summer Dress and Hair Challenge 22

Here we are with our last prompt from Style Perspectives, today is Andrea's turn and she picked A Summer Dress.  I love me a good dress, I think if I could I would wear one everyday during the summer I would. Unfortunately kids sort of prevent me from doing that. Go check out what Andrea has in store for you and see who got the most clicks last week! Here is recap from last week:

I decided to style one of my favorite colors, pink! This is a spaghetti strap dress but since I detest wearing a strapless bra, I usually go the sweater route so I don't have to wear one...does anyone else do that?

I love the little eyelet detail on the dress. I got this from Old Navy on clearance a while back, such a good score!

I had been trying to do this braid for a while. I tried once in Vegas, but failed since I couldn't hear the directions...but my second try I could hear the directions and it took me about 30 minutes to do it, it was worth it, super cute and in case you wanted to know I used about 15 rubber bands. I wish I was kidding.

In the end I think it was totally worth it and turned out great! Definitely going to be something I do again, when I have ample amounts of time to do it...since it is a time consuming thing. I need to find some hair ties that doesn't take out half of my hair with it when taking them out...ouch those things hurt!

Now onto the Hair Challenge. I've been noticing a pattern, I don't do much during the week, and do everything on the weekend. I need to change that, but then that would require me to get up slightly earlier than I already do I would usually prefer the extra 10-15 minutes of sleep. Sorry about that.

Saturday I saw this tutorial and wanted to try it out, I think it's a fun do for summer. Although I can't tell you how many bobby pins I'm using...at least 15...probably more like 20...

Sunday for church I wanted to try something a little out of the norm and fun. I didn't like it at first, but I spent so much time doing it I just went with it, but it grew on me and in the end I really liked it. It was something different. I think sometimes having such dark hair with no highlights makes it hard to see the smaller braided details...

There is suppose to be a braid and a fishtail in there, but the fishtail when I puffed it out turned out wierd when I went to tie it back so I had to bobby pin it some to get it from sticking out which I think changed the look...but hey I still think it's cute.

This one...not so sure about. I wanted to do this type of crown braid, when the thick part was on the top of your head instead of the skinny part...I think it's too close to myforhead. And I took a group picture that made me look like I had an alien head...so this one is out...at least with the braid right on my forehead like this...looking back at the video she had pulled bangs out in the front to frame her face...I need to get me some layers.

But the back looks pretty good.

Now that the Style Perspectives is over, what's next for us? Good thing you asked because the ladies have taken over Carrie and Whitney's Create 28! Each one of us is taking a prompt and making it our own, we'll be posting a recap of all of the looks on Wednesday's over on The Blended Blog and we'll still all be hosting the link up.

Hopefully you'll find some inspiration and link up one of your Create 28 outfits! Here is the first weeks prompt:

Style Perspectives: Nautical Look and Hair Challenge Week 21

Today we're styling Nicole's prompt: Navy/Nautical Stripes. But first if you missed everyone's graudation look, here it is. Didn't everyone do a fantastic job? Head on over to The Blended Blog to see who got the most clicks!

I wasn't sure how to really interpret this prompt, so I thought, well I have a navy striped dress and add some converse that's what you would where going on a boat right? Although I don't think a swing dress on a boat is that great of an idea, but it sure does look cute.

Sort of annoyed that I didn't realize that my necklace was not straight...ah well, let's just pretend.

Of course if you're going on a boat you want your hair all up. Cause that's what I imagine you'd want if you went on a boat. Right? I did a pull through braid and for the life of my can't find where I got it from...

Pull Through Braid

Onto my hairstyles for the week. Only did three this week. I did a braid crown, which I absolutely love.

Then I tried this tutorial...I don't know how she got it to look so good. It was sort of falling out when I took this picture. Will have to try again some other time.

I had curled my hair on Saturday morning and come Monday I threw my hair up in some bobby pins and then thought I'll brush my hair when I get to work...and then forgot, oops. So I took a picture of my unbrushed hair...lucky for me the curls had some massive staying power and masked the messiness.

We only have one more week of Style Perspectives and of course The Blended Blog ladies have come up with something fun for June. We're taking Carrie and Whitney's Create 28 and making it our own.

Here's how it going to work, there are 28 prompts broken down by weeks. Each day one of the 16 bloggers will post their look on their own blog, and each Wednesday we'll have a recap of all of the looks on The Blended Blog. So join along, pick and chose what looks you want to do and post them on Wednesday for The Blended Blog weekly fashion link up. Don't have a blog? Don't worry use #theblendedblogstyle on social media, who knows you might be featured on The Blended Blog Social channels. Here are the daily prompts.

Who's excited for June and create 28? I know we all excited to share our looks with you!
