The White Lies We Tell...

So funny that this is a prompt from Shelly and Katy Speil The Beans is Little White Lies, I had come up with the idea of a post like this a few months ago, and then when I saw their prompts, I was like, hey that's perfect! Now I know when I'm going to post it, instead of it staying in my drafts for months...or years. Okay onto my little white lies.

Besides the big ones, like Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Toothfairy...other lies I tell my children to get through life...

1. Sugar Bugs - The little bugs that take your teeth in the night if you don't brush your teeth. Seriously they won't go to bed without brushing their teeth.

2. Gunny Bag - A bag that comes around at night and takes all of the toys that you didn't put away

3. I'm not sure if this counts or not, but I totally tell my kids they can't have a cookie/snack/whatever it is they want to eat before dinner, meanwhile when I'm cooking I totally eat snacks and cookies behind their back. Anyone else do this?

What sort of things do you tell your kids? Maybe we can all help each other out with some white lies so we can manipulate get them to do what we want.

Guess what? The Blended Blog is turning 1!!!

I can't believe we have been blogging for a year over on The Blended Blog.I have loved getting to know these ladies and we have some fun things planned for the rest of the year. In the meantime, to celebrate our blogiversary, we are hosting a super fun giveaway...what do you win? $150 to anywhere you want! Seriously, we let YOU pick. Friday Favorites #86

In case you missed it this week, here's what's been on the blog.

Monday: August in Numbers
Tuesday: What's In My....Pantry
Wednesday: A Fun Date Night Outfit
Thursday: Fall/Back To School Wreath

Happy Birthday to my baby girl. Mini Fox...today she turns 3, what?! When did that happen? It feels like just yesterday she popped into this world in a blink of an eye...seriously, click here for her birth story where I almost had her in hospital parking lot had Mr. not convinced me I didn't in fact need to take my nail polish off before heading to the hospital. haha.

Notice the orange nail polish I wanted to take off

She is my mini-me...seriously have you seen this picture? Guess who is who?

She loves anything girly and princess but can take a licking and keep on ticking...seriously she'll get knocked down and she jumps backs up, brushes off the dirt and keeps on going. She loves wearing my shoes and almost walks better than me in heels. She's my adventurous one, who adores her big "broder" (brother) and would stand up to anyone she thinks his hurting him. (When Baby Fox is wrestling with Mr. she'll run over, jump on Mr.'s back and start waling on Mr. scream don't hurt my broder!) Always wants one extra hug and night and likes to listen to both her Elsa Doll that sings let it go and her Minnnie Mouse ballerina musical figurine...at the same time. Loves to read and is sharp as a tack, we are going to have problems with her!

I won another giveaway! I need to go play the lottery, or something like that, maybe a scratcher, that's probably equivalent to entering a giveaway right? What did I win? I super adorable Keepsake Mother's Necklace from Journey Lockets. We just got our family photos done, so I'm thinking I'm going to use two of those for the locket. I am so stinkin' excited to start wearing it!

Today Sheila is have her very first link up for Read, Watch, Listen, Follow...

Reading....Harry Potty with Baby Fox, and thoroughly enjoying it, both of us.

Fall/Back To School Wreath

Hello Foxy Crafting Friends! I'm a little late with this tutorial, seeing as that everyone seems to have started school 3 weeks ago, but I figured since I took picture I would show you how I made this simple Fall/Back To School Wreath.

A while ago, I wanted to have wreaths on my door, but I just don't have the storage for all of those wreaths for every season, so I set out to make one Burlap Wreath and then each holiday I switch out the extra stuff, but leave the base wreath there. To see my other holiday wreaths, click here. So let's get started.

What You'll Need:

Burlap Wreath (Click here for a video)
Red Burlap Ribbon - 1 Roll ($5.99, but used a 40% off Coupon)
Chalk Board (I found mine for $3 in the Target Dollar Spot)
Felt Apples (I found mine for $3 in the Target Dollar Spot)
Wire

Directions:

This was the wreath that I had on my door for Summer/Baby Fox's Birthday Party

When I striped it all down this is what I was left with:

So now that you have a blank wreath again, let's get started!

Step 1:

First you need to intertwine the red burlap ribbon throughout the wreath. This is the same technique that I have used for all of the other wreaths. I start from the back and push the ribbon through to the front. Or if you don't want to look at the picture I put together a video that shows you exactly what to do.

Always start with a loop.

Turn to back side and push the ribbon through to the front side.

Front Side, pulling the loop through

If you want to put some ribbon in the middle, don't be afraid to push some of the brown burlap aside  so you can get the ribbon where you need it.

Then continue to do that all around until you have use all of the ribbon. Confession: I got the end and realized I used too much in the beginning so I just undid some of the beginning part so I could space it out a little better.

Now your wreath looks like this:

Step 2:

Next, I took the red apple garland and cut off the string part, so I just had the apples.

Since I want to keep using this same Burlap Wreath base, I knew I didn't want to hot glue these guys onto the wreath, instead I glued on some flower wire to the back sides of the apples.

Once the wire was on the apples, I just had to put them through the burlap and push down, no need to twist them since the putting them through the mesh of the burlap is enough to hold it down.

So now the wreath looks like this:

Step 3:

Now to add the cute crayon chalk board that I found. When I initially found these, I thought that I would be using them for a 1st day of school chalk board, but I ended up getting something else for that, and saw that they were the same exact size as the inside of the wreath, perfect! I used the plastic tab at the top to string some ribbon through it so I could attach it to the wreath on the back side.

I then googled some back to school phrases, I ended up picking one of the very first ones I saw "Let Today Be The Start Of Something New" I just love that, the beginning of a new school year, Fall, all just reminds of me starting over and getting a fresh start.

The finished product, in total I think this took me about 40 minutes to do, and of that had to do with having to stop to take pictures after I did everything.

I just love the way it looks on my front door, with the black background. Perfect for the start of a new school season.

There you have it, three steps to creating a Fall/Back To School Wreath.

P.S. Don't forget to enter my $1000 giveaway to ASOS, who couldn't use a $1000 to spend on clothes and accessories! I know I wouldn't! Today (Thursday) is your last day to enter, so what are you waiting for, click that little blue link and hop on over there.

Date Night Outfit and Knotted Updo

Hello Foxy Fashion Friends! Happy hump day, I get Friday off, so really it's like my Thursday, woo hoo! Today I have a date night outfit. This is one of the things that I got when I won that $100 giftcard to LuLus, I already showed you some of the stuff I got, and this is the last thing I got. I am in love the stripes, I mean you can never go wrong with stripes right?

I did my hair in knots, so super simple, I did it in 5 minutes and I was out the door.

I didn't know what necklace to choose, but the first thing I grabbed was this necklace that Lana got me for our Christmas in July Blogger Swap. It's so dainty and just perfect. My current go to necklace, it says "Unlock Your Dreams", what you can't see is a small key that's attached to the necklace, how cute is that?

No hair styles of substance to report this week, just the usually half top knot and a few buns and braids.

Before you go don't forget to enter my giveaway for $1000 to ASOS...that's right $1000!! Lot's of spending cash and it ends on Friday at 12am CST. You can't win if you don't enter! So go do it right now!

What outfits are you styling to get you through till Fall? Link up below!
