TBB Asks - July Edition

Hey Foxy Friends! How is it already July? You know what happens on the first Monday of the month...it's The Blended Blog asks, where we ask you questions and you all answer. It's a great Monday post and an easy way for your readers to get to know you. So let's get started!

1. Will you go on a Summer Vacation this year?

Not really? We're taking two really long weekends in August, but other then that, nothing. We were going to go somewhere big in December, so we decided against a big vacation this summer. But now we're not doing the December thing and it's too late to plan a big summer thing. Oh well, next year!

2. Do nothing but relax or pack it all in vacation?

We like to do both, do something one day, relax the next, do something else one day, then relax. At least we try. When we went to Rome, we had one thing on the agenda each day, and then we had a secondary, would be cool to see list...so after we were done with our one thing, we would assess to see how tired we were and started checking things off the list. Did we get to everything? No, but we did a lot, and never felt really all that tired.

3. What month do you like to vacation?

If the kids didn't have school, I would pick (and Mr. and I use to do this every year). The week after Memorial day, it's a short week, so you get a "free" vacation day from work, and it's almost always my off Friday, so for 3 vacation days, I get 10 days off. Pretty awesome. Typically we try to book vacation around my off Fridays.

4. Cruise: Yes or No?

I am a YES all the way, Mr. on the other hand is a hell to the no way kind of guy. I'm working on him. He thinks Titanic...enough said.

5. Favorite vacation tradition?

Umm...we don't have one? Oh well I guess we buy magnets whereever we go but that just started since we started traveling with the kids a couple of years ago. I know that Lindsay from Lindsay's Sweet World, buys tacky frames...her wall of frames is so awesome. I'm interested to see what other people say. Perhaps we need to start a new tradition.

6. Most memorable vacation?

I would say our 3 weeks to Italy/Switzerland with really good friends. That was always the trip we said we would take before we had kids, and we did...a year or so after that, but still it happened.

Throwing coins in Trevi Fountain...if you look closely you can see all of our coins...Mr.'s is almost in his hand, and then you can see the sparkle of everyone else's coins above our heads.

7. Pack light or pack it all?

I used to be a pack it all including the kitchen sink...but lately I've been TRYING to pack just what I need...sometimes that fails me, as the one time I went on a buisness trip and didn't pack enough clothes and had to buy a blouse to wear to work...haha. Actually I brought dresses and it was super windy, and I couldn't wear the dresses, and brought no back up clothes. One day I'll find the happy middle ground.

8. Hotel, Condo or House?

Hmmm...I think it depends on where we are going. I like them all? House definitely if we are traveling with friends, it's more fun when you're all together. Condo if it's just the 4 of us...and I guess Hotel if there is something fun there, like Great Wolf Lodge.

9.  Favorite thing(s) to eat on vacation?

Ice Cream...dessert...and more ice cream...and anything bad that I don't normally eat at home because I feel like I can't.

10. Warm or cold destinations?

Both...I know it's cheating. But I really like snowboarding, so obviously those would be cold...but I also like laying on beach and doing nothing but swimming and reading...

Friday Favorites # 169

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! Today is my off Friday, so I'm off working out, and doing the last day camp things with both kids.  But let's get started with this weeks favorites:

Monday: 5 Camping Foods To Make
Tuesday: 5 Ways to Squeeze In Date Night
Wednesday: Summer Work Wear
Thursday: June Boxy Charm - Best One Yet!

Check out what I got.

Last week we went to Great Wolf Lodge and man was it fun! The kids had a blast and are already asking when we can go back. Actually Mini Fox woke up at 3 am the other night asking when we were going back. haha. I'll give you a quick recap. The kids had fun. The end...haha, just kidding.

Little kid area with smaller slides.

Big kid slides...so much fun! All of the adults said, we would want to come back just to ride all of the slides over and over. So fun.

Wave pool, this girl rocked at it...me not so much! She makes it look so easy! It was not, LOL.

Waiting in line the next day to get in, Mr. was getting coffee and breakfast.

The kids got to help open the water park.

Howling kids...we want in!

This girl ended up passing out...in the middle of the water park for over an hour...she's NEVER done that before...well since she was a baby.

We came, we played and had a blast and can't wait to do it again soon! I was super skeptical about paying that much money for something like this, but it's totally worth it and SO much fun!

Other randomness from the past week or so...

Last Friday the guys had a poker night so the ladies went on a Mom's Night Out, so much fun!

Sunday we celebrated Baby Fox's half birthday. We don't usually celebrate half birthdays, but Baby Fox's birthday being on Christmas day, we usually do a half birthday party, but this year he decided he would rather go to Great Wolf Lodge.

Grandparents spoiling him, with yet another gift, yes they did give him a birthday gift on his birthday, as well as a ton of Christmas gifts.

I love the look on his fast..pure joy.

This past week started the week of Baby Fox in build a fort and Mini Fox at her very first VBS, she loved it and wants to keep going back...so I guess that's pretty good. Thank you to my friend for sending me this picture.

There was a water gun day at Baby Fox's camp.

Some announcements for The Blended Blog for the summer months. We're dropping our Monday themed posts for the summer, but don't worry, we're working on some fun things for Fall.  But e are going to continue the first Monday of the month, which means #TBBASKS, where we ask the questions and you all answer. Here are the questions, so start prepping your answers.

The Wednesday fashion posts aren't going to have any themes for the rest of the summer, we're  #FreeStyling it. But we'll be back this Fall with some new fun themes for you all!

I don't go to Vegas much, even though my brother lives there, but I think I NEED to get this next time I am there.

I got choked up reading this..I'm on my 7th...it goes by way too fast. Good read for all of you parents out there. These shoes are the reason I wanted a house with a pool, so that one day my front door would collect all of the shoes.

Hope you all have a great weekend! We're finishing up camps today and then this weekend it's pretty chill, dinner with friends on Saturday and that's it...we'll see what other trouble we can find. Link up your favorites from the week!

Favorite Boxycharm Box EVER

Hi Foxy Friends! Another Boxy Charm post, and I think this month might be my most favorite month ever. Mostly I am in LOVE with the eye lashes we got in this months box. If you need some good lashes, get these...right now. Seriously, obsessed! But here is everything I got in video form.

*Some of the links are affiliate links and I will  either receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you click on it or if you make a purchase from one of these links, I may also receive a commission on the sale of the product. Click here for my disclosure page.

A breakdown of products:

Brushes - $38

Eyelashes - $26

Eyeliner - $4.50

Cream - $19

Lip Paint - $28

Eyeshadow - $22

I also decided to use some of the products and create a make up look for you guys. So here it is.

My thoughts on the products: The eye shadow was super pigmented but was a little hard to blend. And they were all bold shades, so no transition shades, so I had to use another palette to complete the look. The pencil was a little hard to work with, but I really liked the color, and you just have to warm it up a bit on your hand to get the product to go on nicely. The eyelashes are my favorite EVER! Want to buy them all!

Summer Work Wear + WUW

Hi Foxy Friends! Today you're going two for one. The Blended Blog is hosting their usual Wednesday fashion post, today is the last themed post, we're taking a break from themes, and the rest of summer will be willy nilly, do as you please posts. But don't worry, we'll be back for the Fall with more themed Wednesdays to help you get dressed each day. Today's theme is Summer Work Wear...for summer my favorite thing to wear is the swing dress, I have them in several colors, and wear them daily. I like to spruce it up a bit with a blazer, cause everything looks fancy with a blazer? At least it does in my head, just nod your head in agreement, thanks! hehe.

It's the last Wednesday of the month and I finally remembered to link up with Shay, Mel and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday

What we're eating this week:

We are trying to be good and eat healthy...okay not really, but at least some of the meals will be? This week it's pretty much lettuce, hummus and a veggie patty (this is the best one out there, although my packaging is pink). This one is the best one by FAR! It's actually really good, and if you use a little oil and cook on the stove, it has a slight crunch which makes it WAY better than soggie patty.

Tuesday I'm going out with friends, so excited about that.

Then Friday we're having friends over I'm going to make this recipe. I'll let you know how it comes out.

What I’m Reminiscing About

Crazy, this was Mini Fox's first swim lesson 4 years ago...and now she's a little fishy.

 What I’m Loving

Color Street is amazing. It's actually nail polish, but in sticker form. Not need to heat, just place on nail, file down, clear top coat and you're done. When you want to change it out? Use nail polish remover and you're done. Easy right? Comes in solid colors, prints, glitter. I went to a water park for 2 days and they are still in tact. Get some for yourself and you'll find out. I'm going to eventually do a video for you guys, so you can see why I love it so much. My friend is selling them, they have a deal (I'm fairly certian they always have the deal), but it's buy 3 get 1 free. The glitter colors are about $12 each, but you can get 2 manicures out of them.

What We’ve Been Up To

Hanging out with friends. We love jam packing our weekends with friends.

We usually do dinner with these guys on Fridays.

And we just starting hanging out with these guys a lot more often, and our thing is ice cream.

What I’m Dreading

Not dreading much...maybe the heat...but it hasn't happened yet, so we'll enjoy the next few weeks of perfect weather.

What I’m Working On

Working on making workout shirts. I'm obsessed. So far I've made this and this.

What I’m Excited About

The coming months of summer and all of the activities we have planned. Most of the things we have planned are for August...someone was looking at the work time off calendar, and said, Sarah are you even here for August? Nope, the answer is no. If you want to know what we're doing click here. Really excited to see these folks and their new baby. I"m sensing a theme of ice cream, perhaps it's us that really likes the ice cream.

What I’m Watching/Reading

Not reading much...but watching lots!

Just finished watching a lot of Netflix shows, 3% and The Rain, both are subtitled, but totally worth it! Make sure to take it off of the english dub and put on the original language.

And started watching The Sinner, so far after 1 episode it's good, it's coming to Netflix on Monday.

What I’m Listening To

Currently Mini Fox singing lots. Oh, and this one is silly, but there is this radio station out here that does "What's That Noise", usually it goes up $100 per wrong guess, and Thursday it goes up $1000, well they had this noise that got up to $50,000! That is a LOT of wrong guesses...here is the noise if you want to hear it...okay going to give you the answer so if you don't want to know, click the link to hear the noise first...it's the lint trap of your dryer...

What I’m Doing This Weekend

Doing dinner with our Friday night dinner friends. Then Saturday going to try and hit up the gym, Baby Fox is going to karate and then we're having some more friends over for dinner on Saturday (it's our ice cream friends), yes there will be ice cream.

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month

Hopefully hitting up the beach lots and going swimming lots. The weather has been too cool for too much swimming...trying to enjoy the cool weather while we can though. And hopefully we'll sneak in a date night in there too.

What Else Is New

Not much else is new. I've pretty much told you everything there is to tell.

5 Ways To Squeeze In Date Night

Hi Foxy Friends! Today I thought I would continue on with my Marriage Series, it's been on hiatus for a while, but I'm back today talking about how we squeeze in date night.

| One | Find Time

Most important is to find the time. Mr. and I both work full time, so it's really important that we find time for each other. So each night after the kids go to bed, we make lunches for the next day together, then we watch one show together then head off to bed.

| Two |  Day Dates

Mr. and I almost always try to take an extra day after we get back from vacation to spend with each other. So you get an extra day of vacation and you get a date, win-win before going back to normal life. It's a normal day of school and after school stuff, and Mr. and I head out for brunch, movies, shopping, whatever we feel like.

| Three | Make Plans

Schedule date nights far in advance. I know everyone's dance card fills up quick, I know that ours does at least a month or two in advance, so I started to schedule in date nights and get either my parents or a babysitter to watch them so we can go out. We try to go to a nice dinner, so we can talk...mostly about the kids and how cute they are, but it's uninterrupted talking with no Mom, Mom, Mom...

| Four | Trade with Friends

Sometimes it doesn't workout to get a babysitter, but trading babysitting services with friends with kids your kids age works well. We have some friends who have kids that play really well with our kids, so we know that dropping them off there isn't too much of a pain for them, because everyone plays so nicely. And Vice versa, their kids stay with us while they go out.

| Five |  Compliment Each Other

I know this isn't exactly a date night, but families get busy and you can't always get out. The kids are up too late with a cold, or a scary monster in their closet, so when you can't get away at all, go out of your way to compliment your significant other. A "you're doing a great job", or "thanks for bathing the kids", or "thanks for doing the dishes", or "you look nice tonight"...goes a long way. It reminds the other person that you do appreciate all that they do for you and the family.

5 relatively easy ways to squeeze in date night. Mostly you have to make it happen. They won't happen by themselves if you don't plan and follow through. Maybe surprise your significant other by setting up the babysitting situation and telling them you're going out, the babysitter is on the way!

So how do you find time to date your significant other?
