Unicorn Birthday Party

Hello Foxy Friends! What? Two posts in a row? I know, who am I? This past weekend was Mini Fox's 5th birthday. I know! Where did the time go? I feel like just yesterday she was this small...

And now? How did that happen?

Anyway, birthday girl wanted a Unicorn birthday...since March...she kept talking about all the things she wanted, so we did it all! I love me a good theme. I usually do some sort of background on our wall where we typically serve food, but what do you do for a unicorn? I mean super heros is buildings and stuff, like I did here. I figured I would theme everything around flowers. I've always wanted to make paper flowers...so why not start learning right now?  This was the second one  I made, the first one was a complete disaster!

I ended up making 5 of these, 3 big ones and 2 small ones...

The pink one fell off and I didn't retake the picture...oops.

Then I cricuted a horn, ears and cute eyes and I got this.

Then I bought these glitter banners, and added my own letters. You can't beat the price, I couldn't make that man triangles with glitter paper for that price.

I made a ton more flowers and added them to cover the tape that was holding up the banners. I like to use painters tape, which I know is blue, but it's fairly strong and can hold up your decorations without hurting the paint on your walls. So behind all of those flowers is a TON of blue tape.

I went to Party City and bought most of their unicorn decorations to decorate the tables and the ceiling.  For the food, I thought it would be fun to label, and I had bought the unicorns on a stick, so I put them in cyliner vases (bought at the Dollar Store), and then added some crinkle cut paper (also Dollar store), and added my own name on glitter paper, I stuck it to a bamboo skewer.

A friend made the cake, which turned out great. I bought these horn/ears/eyes from Amazon.

Mostly I decorated everything with the paper flowers. I did find some real flowers from Costco that were bright color daisys that worked so perfect for our theme, I had to buy them.

I printed some random unicorns to put on the window...behind. We had bought some bags for  the treat bag, and we ended up doing a pinata, so I put them out with a sticker sheet in each.

I think the pinata was a HUGE hit at the party! If you can get one, it makes doing the treat bag easier, as they just get the candy from the pinata, and the kids had a blast!

Let me tell you that thing was hard to break! Oh and a tip if you are doing a pinata at your birthday party...have extra candy on hand. We bought a bag from costco, and I also bought some suckers and ring pops to add in, plus some butterfly rings and bubbles, and it weighed way more than then recommended. I only put in 2/3 of the costco candy, but then after the pinat broke we dumped the rest of the candy from the Costco bag on the ground too, it was the perfect amount of candy. I think any less and some kids wouldn't have gotten much. So if you are doing a pinata, have extra candy to dump out. Obviously depending on how many kids, we had about 16 kids. And used probably 7.5 (ish) pounds of stuff.

Note: At Party City, it suggested we use 4 lbs of candy for our Pinata, I think ours weighed more like 5.5-6 pounds and was fine.

The last thing we had at the party was a balloon drop. You guys if you have never done one, you HAVE to do it. The kids love it and it's so cheap to do too!

Cheap thrill I'm telling ya.

So that is everything that I did for our Unicorn Party! Pretty simple decorations, nothing over the top, because this mama spent all of her time learning how to make flowers...all of which I made in 5 days...oops, I might have procrastinated a bit!

10 Favorite Fall Staples

Last year I participated with Erin for 10th on the 10th and she's continuing it this year, click here for those posts. Well this year she has come up with 12 new topics that I hope to participate in as well! This month the theme is Favorite Fall Staples. So here is what I am going to be wearing/using on repeat.

| ONE | Burgundy Jeans

I don't know why but these jeans scream Fall to me. I have another pair that are just a little too loose around the legs, and I wanted to find a pair of skinny jeans. I think it pairs nicely with this top, see yesterdays post for the whole outfit.

| TWO | Comfortable Pajamas

I don't know about you but curling up with a warm blanket watching tv or reading is a Fall favorite of mine. Where I live it's still somewhat warm until Thanksgiving-ish, there have been time when it's 85° on Thanksgiving. So I love this 3/4 sleeve shorts pajama set. I have two sets, and guess what? It's even cheaper now then when I bought it at the Anniversary sale. This might mean I need to get another pair!

| THREE | Keep Those Feet Warm

All of our down stairs is made of travertine, so it gets cold on the feet down during the colder months. I won't say winter because our winters don't get nearly as cold as some of yours out there. Anyway, for this girl, I'm always cold.

| FOUR | Booties

Nothing says Fall like Booties. Currently these are my favorite. And that last row, how fun are those, fun to spruce up any boring outfit.

1 (4 colors) / 2 / 3 (3 colors) / 4 (3 colors) / 5 (2 colors) / 6 / 7 (2 colors) / 8 / 9 (12 colors)

| FIVE | Favorite Sweater

Currently this is my favorite sweater, it's long enough to wear with leggings, but can also wear with jeans. I have it in two colors. See how I styled it for Fall here.

| SIX |  Cozy Blanket

Nothing says Fall like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket. My favorites are the ones that they have at Costco, super soft and wash well.

| SEVEN | Fall Scented Candles

I am semi-allergic to scents (when I say semi...it's just me being nice to myself and making me think I can light a candle for hours on end. In reality I can only light them for 15-20 minutes before I feel nauseous. Does not in any way prevent me from buying them when they go on sale at Bath and Body Works.

| EIGHT | A Good Blazer

I feel like a good blazer instantly can change a summer outfit into a Fall one, simply by adding a blazer.

| NINE | My New Favorit Tank

Which is show cased above. I mean I've worn this blush colored camisole so many times in the past few weeks. I am kicking myself for not buying it sooner. It could be that I just recently found a great strapless bra, that I put on in the morning and don't have to think about it again till I take it off, it's that great. Once I found that, spaghetti strap shirts are my new thing.

| TEN | Coming Up Blank...

I would say some sort of hot drink or pumpkin spice Latte, which Mr. wrote a hilarious review on drinking his very first pumpkin spice latte you should check out. Anyway, I don't drink those, so that isn't on my Fall staple list...so I'm going to go with...snuggles. Silly I know, but you know what? All summer long I'm so hot I don't want snuggles from anyone, haha. It's fun to snuggle up in a blanket and watch tv.

So what are your favorite Fall Staples? I'm sure once I read yours I'm going to be...right, I should have added that!

If you want to join in the fun, here are the topics.

Friday Favorites #177

Hi Foxy Friends! Happy Friday, woo hoo, we made it, why is it that short weeks always seem the longest? Today is my off Friday, which means that I am mad rushing to get ready for Mini Fox's birthday party on Sunday. It worked out that her birthday party is on her actual birthday. I can't believe that she is turning 5! I feel like 5 is really little kid status, sniff sniff. Anyway, onto Friday Favorites, head on over to The Blended Blog to link up your Friday favorites!

In case you missed it on the blog...I haven't blogged much but I did blog three days this week.

Monday: The Blended Blog Asks: Cozy Edition
Tuesday: Recent Amazon Purchases
Wednesday: Summer to Fall Transition Outfit

I also posted a YouTube video on my last Boxy Charm unboxing for a while. I stopped my subscription service for a bit. But don't worry I am still getting my FabFitFun and that unboxing should be coming next week, if I can get my act together!

Last week was birthday week, which meant that we did lots of birthday things. Thursday (my actual birthday) got blogged here, so go check out what I did on my birthday. Friday, my friend asked to take me out to dinner and something fun. We had no idea what we were going to do...but figured we would figure something out. On Wednesday another friend posted that he had extra tickets to go see Pageant of the Masters, have you seen it? It's in Laguna Beach and probably one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen. They use real people and recreate famous paintings and statues. And when I say recreate, it's so hard to even describe, like they have all the actors stand in the scenery and then they do magical lighting and suddenly the people don't look real, it's like you can see the actual brush strokes and you have to think, I just saw there were people in there, but now it legit looks like a painting. Anyway, back on subject, we went to dinner at The Deck in Laguna Beach...this was our view.

Then we headed over to the Pageant, it was outdoors (sort of like the Hollywood Bowl), and it was so much fun. They also have an art festival you can get into before the show. Kid art was there too.

View from our seats.

Saturday Baby Fox got his purple belt!

And Mr. and I went out for a birthday dinner.

We drove home with the top down.

Sunday I was busy making a project for a friend, and then later in the afternoon some friends kids came over to spend the night. My friends hubby surprised her with a trip to Paris, so we offered to take the kids for a night to let the grandparents rest a bit. They were thankful. Mini Fox serenaded them as they arrived.

All ate dinner.

Ate popcorn and watched Happy Feet

And then knocked out around 9pm, successful night if I do say so myself.

Monday the kids woke up about 7:45, couldn't have gone any better. We ate breakfast of protein pancakes with chocolate chips.

Watched Ever After. Played, watched Ever After...rinse and repeat...basically it was on in the background.

They went swimming...somewhere in there we had lunch and then the kids grandparents came to pick them up.

I would say that it was successful considering that they didn't want to go home.

This girl also started school on Wednesday.

I have to mention that she also wants to be a farmer...

So that's what happened in my world...oh and I've been busying making these...

Stay tuned for what it turned out to be....still working on it!
