Let's just get this part out of the way, I really, really hate working out. I hate everything about it, I wish I was one of those people that was naturally thin and never worked out...but I'm not, so the only thing that really motivates me to workout? Food, haha. I love food, I love everything, especially candy and chocolate, desserts, and we all know that those have a ton of calories. Bottom line, I workout for food.
What do I do? I like taking classes the most, they push me much harder than I would normally push myself. Cause you gotta keep up with the person at least 20+ years older than you, and you feel like your dying and they aren't even breaking a sweat. #workoutgoals.
I loved taking R.I.P.P.E.D To The Core, it's stands for Resistance, Interval training, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance, the D is for diet...meaning ice cream right? The owners and creators of the program is Tina and Terry and they could be the nicest people ever. They are always energetic and so motivational during class. They also offer the classes via video, you can find that here (I am not being sponsored to say this, I just really believe in this program). The classes fly by!
I also just discovered Amped Cycling...it's WAY better than a regular cycling class. I don't like in a regular cycling class how they tell you to go up this hill as a group, and they're yelling at your to ride up this invisable hill, like no I'm in a class on a bike, not on a hill, and if I was outside I would be WAY behind. The AMPED cycle is just fun, has fun music, flashing lights and the instructor is high energy and it's a butt kicking workout that's fun.
As much as I hate to say this, I do like to run outside, mostly I have to take the kids with me...so running with a stroller it is.
Now that Baby Fox can ride a bike (with training wheels, he has no motivation to want to learn how to go without training wheels), I run while he rides, which actually pushes me to go faster to keep up.
I am just happy he's on the bike and I can go back to the single Bob...cause pushing a double Bob while running is hard work! I ran this 5K with both kids, this is a picture of me, 10 minutes after finishing...Mr. was running with my aunt, while I pushed the stroller. It was nice getting all the cheers along the way for even attempting to run with the double, kept me motivated.
And when I can't get to a class or run, I go to the gym and run it out. I'm traveling here for work, and hotel gyms are small, so I make do with what I have, bang out a few miles, then I don't have to feel guilty about eating that cookie or ice cream cone with dessert.
Another awesome thing about running is that it helps to see a new city. Last week I was on work travel and went running over this gorgeous bridge. Granted my legs almost fell off coming home, but it felt great that I was able to do it, even though I felt like I might die. But I ran along this gorgeous view...
And see this sunset.
And then those times when I really need to get something done and there is no time, I turn to work out videos. Currently I'm really like the 21 Day Fix videos, but have tried P90, , Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, all of them are good, and 30-40 minutes of your time. I can do that right? Point is, get yourself moving, and do something! I always say, something is better than nothing. And it's a great lead by example for your kids. I want to show my kids that working out is part of the routine...this time Baby Fox joined in with me.
He even did some planks with me.
No matter what you do, just get yourself out there and do something! I've been trying different YouTube videos...so far I really like this one. It seems like it's going to be easy and then 20 squats in of what you find out is 100, is killer! Any YouTube or free video's you've tried that you like?
Now hop on over to Abbie to see how the Mama of 2 does her workout routine. Have any tips of your own? Write a blog post about it? Go link it up at The Blended Blog, maybe help a few people out with what you do!
