Baby Fox and I were visiting a friend and her daughter after work and we were having left overs for dinner. I was running a little late getting home, so I asked Mr. to re-heat everything. He knew that I was going to cook another batch of broccoli, so he thought he would help (without me asking, how sweet is that?). I could smell the broccoli when I walked into the door and said, thanks for starting the broccoli...then thought, I wonder if he cut it up...I open the lid and saw this. It was actually working, but I ended up taking it out (with a pot holder) and cutting it up so that it would cook faster. Gotta give the man credit for trying. After I took the picture Mr. said, "you're not going to post about this on your blog are you"...umm...of course not honey. =)
Onto some random things:
Looking forward to the second trimester...apparently that doesn't start till week 14...say what? I thought pregnancy was 9 months, 9 divided by 3 is 3, hence 12 weeks...oh that's right it's because pregnancy is actually 40 weeks, divided by 4 is 10 months...liars! I'm not going to count those random months with 5 weeks..that's just mean. Well played medical people, you're all liars!
Mr.'s birthday is on Friday, come back Friday and wish him a happy birthday. His work decided to be mean and make him work all weekend, and have a late meeting on his birthday, that should be illegal. Working on your birthday is bad enough, but a late work meeting on your birthday, not cool.
I realize I have three weeks before Easter, and I have a kid now so he needs an Easter basket from the Easter Bunny, plus eggs to find, so I decided anything I buy from now until then is going into his Easter basket...And what's a post without a cute picture of Baby Fox?
From last year...he had just started to really walk...he wasn't sure why we kept asking him to find eggs, but he obliged us and found them anyway...

Big Changes!
So I told you yesterday that I was going to tell you why I've been a little MIA from the blogging world lately. I promise I have a good reason, and Baby Fox wanted to tell you what it was:
Yep that's right, we're having a baby! I'm 12 weeks and feeling MUCH better. We had a few complications at the beginning, but everything has worked itself out and baby is doing great! The main reason I've been absent: I was suffering from morning sickness, which pretty much left me unable to do anything productive. Between waking up at 4:30am and getting home from work at 5pm, I was pretty beat, and barely able to get dinner on the table let alone blog. But feeling much better and really hoping that I kick this morning sickness sooner than I did with Baby Fox (he was 20 weeks), anything is better then that right?
We went and had our 12 week scan last Thursday, okay really it was 11 weeks, 3 days, but whatever. Everything looked great and we got a great side profile picture, we never got that with Baby Fox. So we were pretty stoked (people still say that right?)
Well here's to a healthy and happy 28 weeks!

Weekend Recap
Had a great family weekend! We had no plans, except swim lessons on Sunday, it was great! To wake up when we wanted and do what we wanted, when we wanted. I decided that I needed to go to the post office, so asked Mr. if he wanted to take a walk with me to the post office (it's about 2 miles away). Off we went...
Baby Fox wanted to walk...but after about 10 minutes, I said, it's going to take us forever if we let him walk the whole way. I bribed him with some graham crackers to get into the stroller...gotta do what you gotta do, right?
After the post office, it was about lunch time so we decided to head to In and Out, and since we were walking and I needed some things from the grocery store, I suggested we stop at Trader Joe's. On the way to TJ's we saw this guy:
It was just sitting there, unattended asking to be sat in. So we did. Then quickly ran away before anyone saw.
After we got home, we realized it was a 3 hour excursion, but so much fun, and we were all tired. I actually feel asleep sitting up on the couch for an hour. When I woke up I realized how late it was and got busy making dinner for some friends that just had a baby. On the menu? Homemade mac and cheese, salad and brownies. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the mac and cheese, everyone dug in before I had a chance to take a picture. I did however take a picture of the most important part of the meal.
We got to spend some quaility time with friends and love on their newest little addition.
I accidentally made Baby Fox's swim lesson for a little earlier than normal, not realizing we had the time change, suffice to say, Baby Fox was not ready to get up, but was a champ and did awesome at swim lessons, we were worried he wouldn't want to swim, but when it comes to getting in the pool, he's always game.
After swim lessons, we decided to eat lunch and then head to the park. It was slightly breezy, so we thought it was be a good day to fly a kite.
Lesson of the day? Mr. and I really don't know how to fly a kite well, but Baby Fox thought it was great, and that's all that really matters, he had a blast!
And what's going to the park without a little playground action?
I had a little mini heart attack every time Mr. and Baby Fox swung like this, but Baby Fox seemed to be having fun, so I tried not to look.
After nap time, Baby Fox and Mr. went outside to do a little remote control car driving...
And some rock orgainizing...I can just imagine what Baby Fox is thinking here, "mom why are you making me look at you, I have more important things to do"
And to cap off our weekend? I made bacon fried rice for dinner...so good, I highly recommend it! When Baby Fox came into the house after he was done playing outside, he could smell dinner and I asked him if he liked the smell and his response? "DELICIOUS!" I have no idea where he learned that word, but it was too funny.
Loving having extra sun later in the evening, now we can actually go outside and play instead of being cooped up in the house after work. Love it! Hope you all had a great weekend too!
Come back tomorrow for the reason why I've been MIA with my blogging lately. I promise you won't regret what I've been up to!

Simple Things
Sorry I've been MIA, I have a good reason, I really do. But not ready to tell just yet, but I'll let you know soon! In the mean time...
This past weekend we drove out to LA, usually it's a 45 minute drive, but this weekend, an hour and 20, gotta love LA traffic on a random day at a random time. Anyway, we got in the car and couldn't even get on the freeway, uh oh this is going to be a bad drive!
10 minutes later, Baby Fox is saying "OUT, OUT, OUT, OUT", uh oh, this is going to be an even longer drive.
I try handing him different toys that are strewn about the car, they help for about 5 minutes and then he's moved on...I finally find a pack of stickers I bought for $0.99 at Micheal's, I debate for a second. Do I give it to him and let him go crazy? Am I crazy for thinking this? In the end, I figure, my car has upolstry and where ever he decides to stick the stickers we will hopefully be able to get off. I mean how much sticky can a 200 sticker pack of stickers have when they're $0.99? I hand it to him. He screams in delight, and there is silence for 30 minutes. I look back every once in a while, I can see stickers disappearing from the sheet, but have NO idea where they are going. (Baby Fox is still rear facing).
We get to my Aunt's house and this is what we see:
He thought he was so cool. He says, look Mama! At least there wasn't a huge mess to clean up and they made him extremely happy. Win in my book!

10 Years!
That's right, just call me a lifer...I've been with my company for 10 years! I feel like I just started all those years ago. And to celebrate my 10 years there? My company is letting me pick a gift...now to chose between the luggage, necklace or should I go practical and get some kitchen pots and pans, or perhaps a nice pair of binoculars...I mean who really buys those for themselves anyway?
After many years of denial...I guess I'll have to face facts and consider myself a lifer.
p.s. Mr. considered me a lifer when I hit 5 years (I got steak knives, which I've never opened or used - only because we already have a set of 8 steak knives and have never had more then that over for steak dinner, I mean who has that much money to feed 12 people steak? haha, but if we ever get into the "I'm making it big" then I'll be ready!)

Reagan Library Recap - Finally
Okay so this recap is a long time coming, but better late then never right?
We decided that since it was Nana's birthday and Curtis and I have been together for almost 10 years and we've never been that it was a good day to visit the Ronald Reagan Library. We thought Colton would love Air Force One and maybe the Walt Disney Exhibit. (FYI, my parents live right next door to the Regan Library, like we can see the drive going up to the library from their house kind of close, let me tell you when they had his funeral my parents watch the fighter jets fly right over their house, they said it was the most amazing thing ever)
First stop was Air Force One of course
We weren't allowed to take any pictures inside, but we took one standing under the plane.
Then we headed to the helicpoter, I'm pretty sure they frown on touching the helicopter...we're rebels like that, okay my dad's a rebel like that, I walked away pretending I don't know them, saying "who let's their kid touch that?!"
Reagan's motorcade limo...look how old that thing is!
He loved Jelly Beans, so Jelly Bean made a portrait of him using 10,000 Jelly Beans...
We had to walk through an exhibit to get to the Disney one, we found this guy. He looks like a natural doesn't he?
The Disney exhibit was really cool and gave some really cool facts, all of which we had to wiz past because of a certain 2 year old who we were with was constantly saying "boring!" Okay Colton, point taken.
Berlin Wall, crazy that the West side is full of flowers and pictures and the East side of the wall is absolutely blank.
A moment of silence for a great President.
By the time we were done, we were all starving so we hit up In and Out. It was a great afternoon and after we got home I think everyone in the house took a nap.
So if you're ever in the area, I would highly suggest it. They have memoriblia in the museum part (where we didn't get to go) from when he was an actor and things that he got from other leaders around the world. Really cool and the grounds and views are absolutely gorgeous!

Weekend Recap
So I've been taking a little blogging break, since the last time I posted was last Monday. I just felt like I needed a little break, and I'm feeling well rested and much better. So hopefully you'll get more then 1 post this week!
So let's get started. The biggest thing that happened this weekend?! My parents decided to move closer to us! They came down to visit to look at the apartment they're going to rent one last time and they decided to take the plunge! We're so excited to have them closer to us. I think Baby Fox is the most excited because he'll be getting more of these:
Yep that's his own little personal ice cream. We don't typically give him ice cream, only when my parents are around or when we're visiting people that have ice cream. We want it to be a special treat, and not an everyday occurrence.
Saturday morning I asked Baby Fox what he wanted for breakfast and he said pancakes. Who am I to deny the request? Especially this is practically the only true carb he'll eat. Grandpa AKA "ampa" makes the best pancakes (he used to do the pancake breakfast at church), so I asked my dad to make pancakes. He happily agreed. Baby Fox wanted to watch.
Ampa and Nana left around nap time and when Baby Fox woke up we decided to just get our weekend shopping out of the way. Went to Costco, and the grocery store. While there I decided that I wanted baked potato bar for dinner...we've never done it before, just made that our meal, but it was such a good idea, and this will definitely be part of the rotation!
This is how I made the baked potato.
Wash potato, poke holes and put in microwave for 6 minutes, flip and cook until done. For our it took another 10 minutes or so. Once cooked completely, I put canola oil, garlic powder and kosher salt and put in the toaster oven at 425°F, I put them in there probably for 20-30 minutes. There isn't really a time limit, just until your desired crispy'ness. I did flip them about 10-15 minutes later.
Finish product. Mr.'s looks better with all that cheesy/buttery goodness. Since I'm allergic to dairy, I went without the butter and cheese, but the yummy skin makes it just as good (at least in my head).
Sunday was another swim lesson.
We ran into my good friend from junior high. Actually I made our swim lesson for the same time so we would run into them :)
Swim Baby Fox swim!
This past swim lesson, Baby Fox has really been holding his breathe really well. He decided it was funny, when we did under water, to just lay there in a dead man's pose. Like face down, legs and arms dangling...he thought it was hilarious! Silly kid. At one point Mr. and Baby Fox were just fooling around, and I had to walk to the other side of the pool to tell them to pay attention and that they were missing the instructions. Gotta love my boys!
Sunday night was relaxing, watching movies and hanging out.
You know cause everyone "cheers" with their pizza slices
Fun, short weekend. Thankfully this week is my Friday off, so I get an extra day with Baby Fox, woo hoo! Here's to hoping this week goes by fast!

Mr. wanted cheese, but was too lazy to get out the shredder, so he ended up cutting it up and then put his whole potato in the microwave to melt the cheese. |
