Whirl Wind Visit

Happy Monday! Are any of you off this week? I technically have it off, but will be checking into work to make sure my project is still on track.  Anyway, back to the weekend recap. Friday I went to get my allergy shots, When did she get old enough to be sitting there just reading a book?! Waahhh...

Then we (my mom was driving) headed over to the Disney store to exchange something, it pretty much blew her mind. Oh and all you Disney fans, they have Pj's and slippers on their Black Friday sale prices so they're all $10 each. Great deal if you ask me! Go get them now before actual Black Friday.

After we picked up Baby Fox from school we headed out to get some lunch. The girls hadn't eaten yet and I bribed Baby Fox to go with us if I got him French fries, works every time.

Saturday morning the kids snuggled a bit.

And then we worked on some arts and crafts before we had to pick up my MIL from the airport. She did a quick one night trip, always sad to see her go!

Baby Fox was showing Mini Fox how to use scissors...she wasn't getting it, so he says to me, Mom just show her.

Lots of concentration.

We went to our favorite Mexian place for dinner and this girl ate her first taco. Why we waited so long I'm not sure.

Then of course they got Grandma to buy them ice cream...sucker.

She wore her brothers dinosaur jams, and I almost died of cuteness.

Sunday we had Curtis who family over, it was really great to see all of them, we don't see them that often so it's great to be able to get together.

These kids were just being silly, Baby Fox had his leg up and when I showed up with a camera her foot immediately went up. Think they have enough blankets?

We met this little guy for the first time. So sweet and the kids loved him so much.

We just threw together a last minute table setting, nothing fancy.

There was lots of hand holding going on between these two.

This guy found some of his magnets under the fridge and constructed a "pole" with his train tracks to retrieve them. Smart guy that one. MIL left for the airport, I know she was only here for about 30 hours, I am trying to get her to come back for Christmas along with her scheduled visit in February. The kids asked right away when she was coming back. So cute.

Party was a success and everyone had lots of food and hopefully we won't go another year before seeing them again! We started putting our tree up today, and this girl was sad when Daddy turned out the lights before bath, and demanded he put them back on.

Of course there were some laundry basket races going on too.

Then we rounded out the night watching Night at the Museum 3, such a cute movie, had never seen it before.

Great weekend, and even better that I have this week off! Woo hoo! Oh and I get my cast off tomorrow, I get my cast off tomorrow! Then I'm onto a walking boot, but more importantly I get to start driving! Hoping the transition goes well, I'll keep you posted!

Do anything fun and exciting this weekend?

Friday Favorites #52

Hi All! Happy Friday! I have next week off, and today off so it's extra happy for me! I work from home for a month followed by a week off for vacation, best life ever.

The title says #52 but really it's not, at some point I must have missed some, I think I'm around 49 or so...

Guess where these lucky ducks got to go yesterday...wish I could have joined them!

Lucky Ducks

Two nights out with friends...joyous! Thank You Mr. For watching the kids...well the second on the kids went to bed before she got there.

It's midnight when we took this picture, we're tired and I got up at 5am....wait correction 5:02am.

I tried to take a selfie to show you guys that I actually got dressed...and then this happened:

Finally one by myself...although I sort of like my photobombers better.

My favorite thing to do is family errands. We headed to Costco...really so the kids could ride with me on the cart.

Just kickin' it in the basket...

While picking up dinner she was memorized by the dancers and was doing some dance moves of her own.

Back at home, full and happy.

Hope you all have a great week! Happy Thanksgiving if some of you are taking off!

Guys Behind the Blog: 4th Edition

Linking up with Betsy's Guys Behind the Blog Q&A again. Click here for Mr.'s always hilarious answers from previous months.

1. What sports did you participate in as a child? What sports did you watch growing up?

Basketball (wait you participated in basketball), umhummmm...Dodgers baseball and LA Lakers and Chicago Bears Football.

2. If you could line up your ideal Super Bowl, who would be facing off, where would they play and who would you pick to win?

Huh...OH it would be the Bears against the Green Bay Packers and they would play in San Diego so I could go watch them and the Bears would beat them 93-2...no wait, 92 to nothing. Oh wait, they can't really play in the Super Bowl, so that's not really possible, because they are in the same division, but it's my dream, so I can have the Bears beat the Packers in the Super Bowl.

Look how little Mini Fox was!

3. Do you prefer the summer or winter Olympics? If you could participate in one Olympic sport, what would it be?

Summer for sure, I would be 100 Meter Dash, so I could be the worlds fastest person on the whole planet and Baby Fox would think that was the coolest thing. And Baby Fox would ask, Dad how fast are you, and I could answer the fastest man on the planet.

I can't find the longer version of this, but we hope that Baby Fox loves the Olympics as much this time around as he did the last time!

4. What is your favorite food to eat at a sports party (ex: World Series, Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, etc.)?

At a sports party? I like chips and dip especially the is it 7 layers, 8 layers? You know what I'm taking about? It's a 7 layer, but only before the kids get there, you know how I feel about that, and I would get there first and scoop a bunch if it on my plate.

5. Who is your all time favorite athlete and why?

Awwww...I'm not like...I don't know, I've never been that obsessed with people, just teams. The coolest thing I saw was Kirk Gibson hit a home run to win a game for the Dodgers in the World Series.

Me: Okay you're done...

Alright, blog gold from Mr.

New Friends

I have been posting outfits for the past who-knows-how-long, actually I could figure it out, I'm just too lazy to do it. This is what I've been wearing...and old pair of workout pants that I've cut off one of the legs to fit my cast and then comfy clothes...

Last night I actually got dressed up and went to dinner with friends, but of course forgot to take an outfit post when I got home...This is actually what I wore:

But I finally got to add my coat that I bought at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in July of 2014!!!

Yes it's blurry, yes they really are that much taller than me, yes the girl in the middle is slouching. Good news on the coat, they have one very similar* on sale! Only $34, but it says sale ends today! It's super warm, and soft, great peacoat in my opinion. So glad that I got to take it out on it's debut outing, even if it was just 54° out.

Anyway, today is one of those days where I went to write a blog post and came up completely empty so I went to pinterest to find a quote...this one spoke to me. I am not a writer...hence why I'm an engineer and use words like hence in a sentence twice. I don't have eloquent words flowing out of me...so I figure take this quote how you see fit in your life.

via
Right now in my life, this quote feels like it applies to friends. I have been having issues finding friends in my mom life. I feel like it's so hard to find them once you leave college. We moved out here with a really good friend and her husband,  I don't know what happened but now we rarely talk...anyway...after we stopped hanging out as much, I really thought there are other people in my life that I really love spending time with, so I made an effort to hang out with them, text , call and really get to know them. I am so happy that I went out of my comfort zone and "took another shot" at making friends. You are never too old to make new close friends and make new memories with great people, who I wouldn't have probably gotten to know so well had that negative thing in my life happened. Do I miss that person? Yes terribly, but until she's ready to get over her issues, I'll be here with open arms, but won't be dwelling any more or letting the negative things affect my life.

Wow that got a little more serious than I thought, based off a random quote I found, and probably doesn't make sense to you, but hey, I feel better. So thanks for listening/reading my random rant of the day!

Happy Hump Day Peeps! I have 5 more days of this pink cast of mine! Woo hoo! At least I hope, I really hope I'm not that person that they say...oh so sorry, you're in it for another week...NOOOOO!!!! No that won't happen, it can't happen, Mama has Christmas shopping to do!

Show and Tell Tuesday - Giving Back

Linking back up with Andrea for another Show and Tell Tuesday. This time she's asking us about service organizations we are involved with. When I was in college I was in a service organization called Sursum Corda, it was some of the best times, and I met some of my best friends in that group. Since college I have volunteered at things here and there, but, and it's said I have to add this, I just don't find the time as much as I used to.

That being said the most recent charity thing I've been involved with is Thomas House.

I had mentioned a few weeks back that I went to a Gala to raise money for them and their cause. I think this is such a worthy cause and really reminds me of Good Shepard, one of my favorite volunteer things in college.

Thomas House is a place that provides a safe and supportive environment to families with children to help them get back on their feet. While at the Gala we actually got to meet Sandra and hear her story. She is doing well and attending college all because she and her family had Thomas House to support them when they needed it.

At the end of the night they said if you hadn't bid on anything that you could still help by placing your number in a backpack that was being passed around and that would be donating $100 for a backpack and all of the supplies the kids would need for the school year for one student. Sandra had mentioned that she was always on the receiving side of the backpacks and didn't realize how much love, support and work went into providing those backpacks to her and her brothers each year.

My friend has been asked to be a co-chair for next years Gala and I intend to help out as much as I can, in whatever way I can. For now I have "adopted" one of the kids for Christmas and am currently going through his Christmas list and trying to get everything he needs.

When I got home I told Mr. that it was such a great organization and that it was something that I think I really wanted to get involved with when the kids got a little older. For now we will donate when we can and help out anyway we can. I'm looking forward to getting the little foxes involved with volunteering and helping others.

What charities do you support and why? Leave it in the comments below!
