$10 Target Haul: July Edition

I can't believe that another month has passed and we're doing another $10 Target haul. This month I have a funny story to tell you. But first I'll show you what I got.

I figured I didn't really need anything and everything seemed to be geared towards back to school, so I got all things that had to do with back to school. I've been trying to teach him how to read a clock and we made a make shift one, so I thought I would get him this. We played with it over the weekend, he was so cute filling out all of the numbers.

I saw this and had to have it. I have no idea what I'm going to use it for...what can I spell with 10 blocks? Hmmm...I'm thinking I'll put it in my kitchen window, or maybe it will be a part of my mantel for Fall...

I've also been working with Baby Fox on learning money, but turns out Mini Fox attached herself to this, and Baby Fox had no interest, perhaps it's because I was making him learn with it. I gave it up for now and we'll see. Perhaps I need to find some other way to make him interested in learning money.

Okay onto my random story. My friend texts me one night and says, hey rumor has it those back to school boards are in stock at Target right now. Okay back track to last September when everyone is posting their kids with these fantastic "My First Day Of..." boards and I'm jealous beyond belief and can't find it. Queue me waiting for 10 months and stocking Target like a crazy person for them to come back. Okay back to my story, my friend texts me, and I literally jump in my car at 9:15pm and hop on over to my friendly target.

I found the gems above. My precious board was not found. Feeling defeated I was driving home and decided there is another Target about a mile from here, I'm going for it. Here is my crazy face I sent to my friend.

And guess what? Yep after search every single shelf...I found it under here.

Wanna see them? This is the chalk board version.

This is the dry erase one.

And don't think I didn't buy them all. My friend wanted one of each and then well I had to buy the others for friends, just in case. In case you wanted to know, it's $5 each, what a steal right? I would have included these in my $10 haul, but I had already bought the other stuff, and didn't really want to return it.

So my total:

Chalk board clock - $3
Chalk Cubes - $3
Play Money - $3

Total: $9.83

Under budget, but technically over, because I then bought $30 worth of chalk boards 15 minutes later at a different Target. Oops. Target you got me again.

Small French Braid To Top Knot

Happy Monday Foxy Friends! If you're here from Monica's blog, Jersey Girl, Texan Heart, welcome! Glad that you could stop by. I am assuming you are here because you want to see a video of that hair tutorial. If so, you're in the right place! On the flip side, if you are more of a picture person, head on over to Monica's blog to see a step by step tutorial on how I got these two looks.

If you try out this hair style, let me know, or tag me @foxysdomesticside on IG.

On Wednesday I'm going to do an outfit post with one of these hair styles, it might involve tulle, so come back Wednesday to see that!

Friday Favorites #125

In case you missed it this week:

Monday: Kids Behind The Blog
Tuesday: Our weekend in 10 photos
Wednesday: Cold Shoulder Summer Outfit
Thursday: Girl Chat: One Million Dollars

I didn't post a new video this week, but I did showcase this braid with my outfit on Wednesday. It's super easy, so check out how to do it, or click here to go directly to the video.

Yesterday I went to surprise a friend who was in town, she didn't know myself and another friend were going to be there. It was so fun to surprise her and then get to chat the day away. Plus I got to leave work early, so there is that. We went to the Rooftop in Laguna Beach, if you are ever in the area go there it has the best view....see...

We enjoyed some drinks, appetizers and talked the afternoon away.

I haven't seen this girl in at least 10 years, it was so nice to hug her and catch up. There wasn't enough time, we need more time!

This girl I've known since 7th grade, we took selfies while waiting for the other two to show up so we could surprise our friend.

This girl I've known since she transferred to our school in 9th grade. I was one of her first friends, when she moved and am so glad she was my partner in English I think it was.

We chatted, we ate and chatted some more. Then took a short walk to the beach to snap a few photos and to make the afternoon last a little longer.

Love this picture here.

Thanks for organizing the surprise, it was so much fun. Let's not let 10 years pass before we see each other again!

I'm excited to link up again this month with Kristin from Taz and Belly for her Little Letters series

Dear Cough,
You are not appreciated. Please vacate, you are no longer wanted, and I'm tired of feeling like I'm hacking up a lung.

Dear Amazon,
Thank you for Amazon Prime day, I know it's probably the same deals as normal, but thanks for letting me think I'm getting a super good deal, I really needed those running shoes.

Dear Ear Infection,
You can vacate my daughter now, you are no longer wanted here. She's had a fever for 5 days now, please leave, we're sending in some amoxicillin as back up. You were warned.

Dear Junior High Friends,
I had a total blast hanging out with you last night. It was just like old times, like no time has passed. I love that it might have been 10 years since we last saw each other but it seemed like just yesterday. Let's not let that much time pass between us again. I miss you, and love you and can't wait for our girls trip next year. We will make it happen!

Dear Kiss lashes from Walmart,
I love you, that's all.

Dear Chemistry Lab (summer class Baby Fox is taking),
Thank you for being so fun and getting him excited about science. It makes this mama's heart soar when I hear how much he loves it.

Dear Dad,
Thanks for taking Baby Fox to Chem lab, I know you love the time with him, but it would be much harder to get him to all these fun things without you.

Dear Alexa,
I admit I didn't want you, but you're sort of fun to ask random things to, like why the sky is blue. I like that I can ask you to play any song and you do, will make cooking better.

Dear Heat,
Thank you for only staying for a week, I appreciate that. Please give us a few more days of nice weather before you start up again.

This week I am sharing my Friday favorites over on the The Blended Blog. So go over and check out some more favorites over there.

First up is Sarah from Tucker Up. She had her super handy hubby create these pipe shelves in a few hours, how cool does this space look now?

This next one is more for my selfish reason, because, extra entry, heck ya. But head over to Mel's blog at The Larson Lingo, for a chance to win $250 for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Giveaway ends next Friday so you have time to shop the sale with the gift card...can't win if you don't enter!

Have you heard of The Kids Behind the Blog? Hosts CrystalBethMeghanJessica, and Stephanie  host the link up every second Wednesday of the month. I did one on Monday, but I just love this link up, if you aren't doing it, write it down on your calendar to do it next month. Here is the schedule  August 9 | September 13 | October 11 | November 8 | December 13. It's fun to look back at your kids answers over the years, now go see what the questions are and link up next month!

What? This is amazing, I love how relatively these homemade barbie doll clothes are, and the shoes? Freakin' genius!

Must throw a third Spider-Man party so I can make these. How cute and easy?

OMG this is hilarious, he's keeping it all the way real. I love this so much, thank you for recognizing all that we do sir!

Girl Chat: A Million Dollars

Linking up with Lizzie , Sierra , Danielle , Emily, and Lindsay and their girl chat link up. This month they're asking what we would do with $1,000,000, wow that's a lot of money.

I would quit work. I know that sounds dramatic because let's face it a million dollars isn't much when you live where I do. But I am super close to not needing to work, so this would allow me to do it much sooner than we thought.

Then I would pay off our house, cause wouldn't everyone do that?

Then I would put away some money for the kids college fund, which is probably most of it, by the time my kids get to college it's going to cost a fortune!

Okay not really, there will still be some left after that, I figure we'd do the adult thing and save half of whatever is left, and then other part we would probably put in a vacation fund.

Actually I take that back, I'm going to be selfish, and go on a massive shopping spree. So let's pretend I get this money in a week, I would just get whatever I wanted at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, because we all know we want those $300 boots but always talk ourselves out of it, not this time, I would get whatever I wanted and not feel the least bit guilty. (longest run-on sentence ever).

Then AFTER the shopping spree, I would buy some window shades/coverings for our kitchen/family room. It gets direct morning light and in the summer, man it's hot! Plus where the TV is, the glare from the window makes it nearly impossible to watch tv for a good portion of the day. Every year I say this is the year we're going to get something, and every year something else comes up...one day I will get that.

Then after that I would buy new doors for the inside of the house. The doors in our house don't match and it drives me insane. One door is all smooth, another had 4 panels, another has 6 panels, crazy I tell ya!

Eventually we want to change our bathroom, but aren't quite ready to do that, so I would probably set aside some money to eventually do that one day.

I think that's all I would do for now, put some in a vacation fund, we are big budgeters, so it would allow us wiggle room to do more vacations, when and where we wanted, allow the kids to see the world. In the end we want our kids to be well rounded and not spoiled, to know the world, yet have compassion and love to those around them.

What would you do with 1 million dollars?

Happy Wednesday Foxy Friends! Today I'm bringing you a shirt that I bought a while ago, and haven't worn yet here on the blog. Actually, in truth I haven't worn it out in public yet either. I was going to wear it to MNO the other night, but as I was getting dressed to go out my friends texted and said the restaurant was SUPER cold, so I adjusted accordingly. But I love, love, love this top. It's so fun for summer, and now that we're headed into the super hot months, this is going to be perfect.

My hair I did a simple braid, and swept it up to the side.

Our Weekend in 10 Photos

I figure since Shay and Erica's Workin' It Wednesday topic, is a weekend life, and after reading Stephanie's post last month about the Daily Dime link up, I knew I had to participate too, so I'm also linking up with a few other bloggers for:

These pictures are from July 8-9 , unfortunately Mini Fox was sick so we spent a LOT of time inside watching tv and relaxing. But that's life for you right?

Saturday morning started off with my new favorite class called Lifebarre

Then I got to take a leisure shower and get ready, obviously no pictures allowed in the locker room. Picked up Baby Fox at the kids academy (Mini Fox was sick so she stayed behind with Daddy at home), we headed home and then some friends came over for some swimming and dinner.

The best part, is that they can all swim so we can sit and watch and chat, we chatted about our next trip together, we're thinking Hawaii.

Sunday, Mini Fox was still sick so she did a lot of this:

I took a few hours and meal prepped for the week. Ran out of containers, so had to improvise until more containers are available this week.

Mr. helped me fix my blog, phew, glad he knew what to do.

Meanwhile, Baby Fox worked on some Lego Nexo Knight stuff.

We all needed to get out of the house, so we treated the kids to some Yogurtland, because when you get a buy one get one free you take advantage of it. Bonus: The lady gave us the coupon back so we can use it again!

But mostly this happened a good portion of the day.

We put the kids to bed and then watched our new favorite show Turn (have you seen it? It's on Netflix and it's about the revolutionary war, super interesting).

Mr. is drinking beer, I am drinking water...trying not to snack at night...so....hard.

Update: Mini Fox's fever went up to 102.7, so we're taking her into the doctors today...fingers crossed it's nothing and that she doesn't have to do any breathing treatments or antibiotics. Anyone else feel like you don't want to bother the doctor with taking them in all the time, and mostly they tell you it's a virus, it will pass, but there is that small part of you that needs to take them in, just to make sure? I hoe they don't have on their record, "that annoying mother that brings them in for a cold"

Okay, back on topic...if you want the other topics for Workin' Wednesday for the rest of the year.
