My Favorite Things: Target Edition

We had a super busy weekend, recap coming up sometime this week, I promise. Today I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika for their Favorite Things: Target Edition. I love Target...like love, love, love. Mr. has NO idea why I like it so much. I like going there and just wandering around the isles. Looking at the make-up, the clothes, jewelry, movies, books, you name it, I look at it.



T-shirts

Love the kids clothes. You can find some great deals in the clearance section, and I sort of love the Circo rack that has all the t-shirts for the kids.

My absolutely favorite t-shirt for myself is the Ultimate style at Target. If you ever see a t-shirt on my chances are they are the Ultimate Tee from Target. Super comfy and soft and the best part is the white isn't see through, score!  Short sleeve and long sleeve version, go try them, you won't be disappointed.

 Make-Up

Okay I know you can get the same stuff cheaper at other places, but I spend so much time here, that it just makes sense to buy my make-up from here too. Here are my favorite "drug store" make-up products.

These have got to be my favorite. Seriously. They are the bomb.com. They are little q-tips, but when you break the tip with the stripe on it, the make up runs down the stick and into the q-tip part and you have a q-tip with some make-up remover. I use these whenever I have a little eyeliner smudge. These are oil free so as soon as it dries you are good to go. They are the best and great for on the go too.

They have a great selection of nail polish. Love OPI and their hilarious names, this is the Thank Glogg it's Friday. I tend to go with darker colors, I think it looks best with my skin tone. I LOVE the wet and wild lipsticks. I know reminds you of when you were a kid right? No? Well it does for me, it was the brand to have back in the day. Anyway, these are long lasting, and great to put on. I have at least 10 colors? I think I might have a problem. So much so that I accidentally bought the same color twice! Oops, oh well, at least I'll never run out.

Groceries

Mr. loves this brand of tea and Stash. They are super cheap at Target for some reason. At the grocery store they run $5 but at target they are around $3, save $2, yes please! Sometimes you can even get it on sale, it's so awesome, we definitely stock up when it's on sale.

They have some great deals on the food, just have to look for them. Like the other day I was buying some soda and if you bought 3 cases for $9 you got free 6 pack of Snapple, like what?! Okay then...I'm in! I ended up giving the Snapple to my parents, but hey free is free!

Dollar Section

I love this section, I don't find stuff often that I get, but it's just the thrill that I MIGHT find something for a $1.

Cartwheel



Ever since I got my phone and I could finally get this little app called Cartwheel it's changed my life. Okay not really, but it's awesome, it gives you even MORE deal on stuff at Target! Yes Please.

I love that they have clearance stuff randomly throughout the store, it's like a treasure hunt to find the good deals.

The Clutch

I know I'm not going to want to carry a big purse around, so a clutch it is, it can comfortably sit in my lap the whole time (cause you know I'm really going to this thing...haha, not!) I picked #1 just because I really liked how it was a knuckle clutch and if someone were to attack me I could take him out with my purse...okay not really, but it's just fun isn't it?

Keep Me Honest


Okay, I had an outfit all ready to go this morning, and guess what? I forgot to load the pictures at home, darn! Oh well.

 Lately I've felt like this...okay not the whole I'm hooked on caffeine drugs part, but the no time part.


As you know we belong to a really awesome gym and lately I've only been able to make it over there twice a week. It's a hard workout, but I want to do more. I've done P90X and while it's an awesome workout, who has 90 minutes, 6 days a week to do it? I did pre-kids, but now...no way. I'm lucky if I can get in 2 workouts a week. Which brings me to the point of this post.

A friend had asked me what I thought of T25. I had told her that I loved it, that it's only 25 minutes and that it gives you great results. I just got bored with it, doing the same thing over and over again. That and I sometimes get lazy. I used to do it a lot when I went back to work after Mini Fox and Mr. was working longer hours and couldn't get home to watch the kids while I went to the gym.

Anyway, my friend asked me if I would be her accountability partner. We would do T25 together, and then each week report back to each other. I'm not sure about you, but that is exactly what I need. Someone that is going to "guilt" me into doing something. If I know someone else is expecting me to do something, that more than likely I'll do it. Anyway else that way?


So we're going to start on Monday (since she just got the DVD's yesterday and the circuit runs M-F (at least that's what we're going to do). I'm writing down my goals, so that not only will she be my accountability partner, so will you guys! Plus I like lists.


Goals:
  • Lose 5-7 pounds
  • Tone my thighs and mid section (along with everything else, haha)
  • Feel better about me (lately I've been eating just a tad too much, and just feel a little frumpy)
  • Get a new bathing suit!

Plan:
  • Take my gym classes twice a week and do the T25 the other three days (if I hike or can fit in something on the weekend, great but if not, I won't beat myself up over it)
  • Stop snacking, on the weekends I am a horrible snacker! At work I bring breakfast and lunch, so I can really only eat what I bring.
  • Portion control my lunch more. I treat myself to some chips everyday, I am going to still treat myself to chips, but going to bring a few less chips, instead a whole baggie worth.
  •  Limit my carbs at dinner. I'm a carbs girl through and through (anyone else with me on that?), so I think if I try to stick to proteins and veggies at dinner and avoid the mass amount of carbs that I currently eat.
  • Drink soda only on the weekends, I have been drinking way too much, and while I enjoy it, I think it should be a weekend thing (baby steps people)
Alright, I think that's it for now. T25 program is 5 weeks. I'll check back in next week and let you know how things are going. Keep me honest people.

Show and Tell Tuesday - How I met My Mate (AKA Mr.)

Another Show and Tell Tuesday here with Andrea, this time we're talking about how we met our mates and how we got engaged. I did a whole series on how we met already, but I'll gladly recap it for you guys.

We met in a bar, end of story.

Haha, just kidding. My girlfriends from junior high and I finally got together to go out. We decided to go to West Hollywood to a place called Barney's Beanery. Our booths were next to each other. Mr. was out with his band, yep he was in a band (singer/song writer), and his group of friends and my group of friends started talking.


The end of the night rolls around and we decided to head back to one of the guys apartments to hang out. Totally sketchy right? But we figured there are 4 of us and one of my friends and one of his friends were really hitting it off. So off we went. Since they were in a band we convinced them to sing some songs for us. So they busted out the guitars and started singing...talk about winning a girl over. End of the night rolls around and one of the guys is driving us home, there isn't room for Mr. to fit in the car, we're not sure what to do...it's just a little awkward. Anyway, I just casually wave and say goodbye, and start walking towards the car, when my friend says, Sarah go hug your friend. I happy turn right around and practically skip towards him to give him a hug.

Yes we exchanged numbers, and yes it took him exactly 2 weeks to call me! He left a voicemail message:

"Hi this is Mr., umm....I think we met at a bar in Hollywood a couple of weeks ago. I've tried but I can't get you out of my mind, want to do lunch sometime this week? Call me back at...hope you hear from you."

Smooth right?

I should tell you that we were both dating people at the time? I probably should have mentioned that right? Anyway, I call him back and we go to California Pizza Kitchen the next day. We had great conversation and while walking we kept brushing hands, and I knew I had a boyfriend, so I kept stepping away, but we were just drawing to each other and our hands kept brushing. If you ask Mr. he says that it was all me, I think it was all him.

He emailed me that afternoon asking for another lunch date and I had to tell him that I had a boyfriend. I was surprised when he wrote back because I thought for sure I would never hear from him.  He said something along the lines I'm sorry to hear that. I enjoyed meeting you and getting to know you. It just means that someone saw how wonderful you are and got to you before I even had a chance. He's a lucky guy. I hope this isn't goodbye, I'd still like to get to know you, as a friend. Hope to hear from you soon.

Wow, I was not expecting that response. This was definitely someone I wanted to get to know better. My then boyfriend and I were having issues, I had been talking to my parents about it and they told me that while he was a great guy I needed to do what I felt in my heart. So I broke up with him. I knew that if I found someone else this interesting that there wasn't a future with this other guy. So I broke up with him, Mr. broke up with his girlfriend and well, the rest is history.

This is us a few months after we started dating. We went to see my cousin play football and then headed back to my parents house for dinner. I had literally just chopped my hair off the day before.




We didn't have a digital camera so the pictures were few and far between. Surprising considering how much I love pictures.

We knew probably 3 weeks after dating that we wanted to get married. Our dating anniversary is July 10th. We don't celebrate it any more, heck we can hardly remember when it is, and usually days past and we say, oh hey, our dating anniversary just past! Oops. We got engaged in Santa Barbara 11 months after we started dating, sometime in June 2004. Is it bad that I don't remember the specific date? Us at dinner. He took me to El Encanto, it was so cute, and the food was delicious!



 Of course I said yes and 9 months later we were married!


We're celebrating 10 years of marriage in April, we're going back to Santa Barbara to celebrate. Can't wait! First time away from both kids since Mini Fox was born, a much needed break and hopefully lots of shopping gets done :)

Things I would Be Awful At

No weekend blog post for you guys today, I know, tragedy right? Okay not really, but we had a super busy weekend, and I left my camera with most of the pictures at my Aunt's house and who knows when I'll get it back. Hopefully soon! Cause I miss my camera already! Quick run down...

Friday -> Lots of driving, but had fun with some old friends
Saturday -> More driving, but had fun with family
Sunday -> More driving, but did the Discovery Science Center and dinner with friends

You can imagine the pictures, although on Friday we forgot to take a picture of us...bummer!

Now onto the post:


Mr. and I were in bed and we usually chat for a few minutes...okay usually it's more like, until I tell him I have to go to sleep because I have to wake up early for work. But anyway...here's our conversation:

Me:  You know what I would be really bad at?
Mr.: What?
Me:  The show Naked and Afraid

Have you guys seen it? It's basically they shove a man and a woman in some remote awful place and tell them to survive for 21 days.

Mr.: Yea you probably would be really bad at that show.

So this is what prompted my post, let's get started:

Because I couldn't find a good meme for this post, and I think this penguin is cute, he has nothing to do with this post...

Let's go back to the Naked and Afraid

Why I would be awful at this: I am allergic to everything. This includes bug bites. With bug bites, a normal person gets them, it may or may not itch, but it lasts a few days and it's gone. I get a bug bite and one of two things might happen. 1) it itches for all eternity. No seriously, I have a bug bit I got on my stomach over the summer, it's still there and it still itches. 2) It's a flea bite and it grows into this gross abnormal thing that takes years to recover from and itches like crazy for at least a year. I wish I was exaggerating.

What Mr. said: You know, knowing you if you even survived from the bug bites, there would be one thing on the entire island you could eat and it would be soy and you wouldn't be able to eat it, so you would just die. Thanks Mr.

How Long I think I would last: Less than 60 seconds, No joke...I would probably have about 100 bug bites in those 60 seconds and want to die. Mr. said: That's probably accurate.

Pole Vault

Mr. You know what else you would be bad at: Pole Vault.
Me: What?!
Mr. Pole vault, when you said things you would be bad at that's the first thing that popped into my mind.
Me: You're weird, why would you think that?
Mr. I'm not sure, but think about it, you probably couldn't even hold a pole long enough to get over anything over, what 5 feet?
Me: That's probably true.

Why I would be awful at this: I am afraid of heights, like really afraid, I sort of got over it in high school, when I had to stand on a big tall ladder all the time (band geek alert, different story for me to tell). But for the most part I don't like heights and free falling, wuss. I mean so scared I can't even scream type of afraid. And the whole rock climbing thing...I never look down, ever. Plus I'm attached to rope attached to Mr. Someone I trust completely (good thing since I married him right?

What Mr. Said: See above

Paranormal Detective

Why I would be awful at this: Not saying that I do or don't believe in this, but I am a big scaredy cat. I get scared when I'm in the kitchen and Mr. walks in unannounced, even though I know he's in the house. I just don't think I would be good at it, because my eyes would be covered most of the time. AND I don't think I would ever sleep. Like ever. I have stopped watching scary movies because I would have nightmares every darn night.

What Mr. Said: You would never even try that, so that doesn't count. It totally does, I would be really bad at this.

So there ya go, three things I would be truly awful at.

Happy Friday! It's my off Friday, woo hoo! I was out super late last night, we were just sitting and chatting and then they turned off the music and we went to leave and realized it was midnight! Woah!
