October Stitch Fix Review

Hello Foxy Fashion Friends! Today I'm reviewing my October Stitch Fix...I ordered it back in April of 2014, click here for that review...It was a bust and I decided not to keep or do it again for a while. Mostly I was disappointed that the sizing was just off, I really need petite sizing. Fast forward many months (18 months to be exact) and I won a gift card for a styling fee from Courtney from A+Life, woo hoo, so excited! But yet I hadn't used it,...fast forward another year and finally I decided to go for it. I just love seeing everyone else's Stitch Fixes...so why not right? The styling fee is essentially free, so what did I have to lose? So thank you Courtney for the gift card!

I'm sure you know what Stitch Fix is...but just in case you don't know...Stitch Fix is a service that you pay $20 and fill out a survey where they ask you a series of question getting to know you and your style. The more you tell them the better they will do with your fix, it's even better if you have a Pinterest Board of styles that you like too. If you want to try it out, click here, it's my referral link, if you decide to try it and do so through my link I'll get $25! Okay onto my fix.

Again I had planned for my fix to come on Thursday, so I can take pictures and then return on Monday...nope, didn't happen AGAIN! Came early...like on Monday, who has time to take pictures and all that after work, before it gets dark...arg!  I was all set to be totally annoyed with this fix, and hate it...but when I opened that box...I was blown away. Like just pulling out the pieces I was getting giddy!

I was able to put together two outfits with what came with the fix. The first 4 things, a pair of jeans, a sweater, jacket and necklace. Stitch Fix always comes with Style Cards, here are all the cards for this outfit.

And onto the outfit.

I LOVE this jacket, like I cannot even contain myself, I never want to take it off, is that okay? Like I need another jacket, but it's light weight so I can totally use that right? Definite keep!

The shirt was super comfy, I had on a black tank top under it, but I felt for the price $58, I thought I could do better.

The jeans were awesome fit, there was some braiding on the pocket that I wasn't a huge fan of but didn't totally bother me because I rarely tuck in my shirts all the way.

I loved the necklace as well, but wasn't sure if I loved it for $55...

Then I switched out the sweater for the tank top and had a completely different outfit...well sort of. I thought I would hate the shirt, typically brown doesn't look good on me, but with the black block right up against my face I didn't mind the brown and the pop of color at the bottom was fun.

I really debated about keeping everything. If I kept everything and got my 25% discount, I would have "saved" $85...that's huge, that is like getting the jeans or the jacket for free, that's pretty cool. I talked to Mr. about it and he said..well is it worth $212? Would you rather buy something else with that money? So off to Nordstrom I went to see if there was indeed anything else I wanted, and truth be told there was. I realize that Stitch Fix is meant for the ease of it all, but I like online shopping/shopping at the Mall. I thought I was pushing it with the jeans, they were $88, but when you looked online they were selling for about $55 or so...I thought you know I can get a better pair for slightly more money and they would fit perfect. In the 10 minutes I had them on I was already pulling them up.

So in the end I decided to keep the jacket and return everything else. If  I had unlimited funds I would have kept everything! I think my stylist did a smashing job and I hope I get her the next time I try Stitch Fix!

Have you tried Stitch Fix? What was your thoughts?

Friday Favorites #92

Hello Foxy Friends. It's Friday! Woo hoo! I actually have today off, so I'm off doing errands with the little until the bigger one gets out of school, then off to get some flu shots for the big. Little got hers last week. I love three day weekends!

In case you missed it this week:

Monday: Showing you My Halloween Decorations
Tuesday: Giving You Family Fashion Ideas for your Family Photo Session
Wednesday: Styling My Favorite Coat and Vest (not together)
Thursday: A Tutorial On How to Decorated Your Thanksgiving Table

This weekend we hit up the pumpkin patch. I know you're all dying to see our pumpkin patch photos, just like the other 1,000 people doing the same thing, hehe. 6th year doing this with them...always a good time.

Much needed MNO last night. We went to the Melting Pot, ate lots, talked lots and a a lot of good fun. Having too much fun to take a picture together, but I did get one of the dessert...#priorities.

S'mores chocolate dessert, to die for good. This is a picture of them roasting the marshmallow...yummy.

Not a great picture but the selection of stuff to dip into the chocolate...yum!

I always forget to post funny photos from taking outfit pictures...so that's what you're getting right now.

Totally random, Becky had posted this video on her newsfeed and I clicked on it because who doesn't want to watch a video about teachers being surprised by students? Anyway, I'm listening to it, doing other things in the background, and when I go to watch the last part of the video I recognize one of the teachers! She's one of my sisters best friends and I'm so happy for her and seeing her with her students was awesome.

I want to do all of these hacks...so cool!

Hope you all have a great weekend! Having a garage sale tomorrow, wish us luck it's my first one!

How To Decorate Your Thanksgiving Table

I thought since Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I have a lot of new readers I would do a little throwback Thursday and repost when my mom guest posted on the blog on how to decorate a Thanksgiving table. She's seriously an amazing interior decorator, and I'm desperately trying to learn from her, now that I have my own house and family. I want to make my home warm, cozy and inviting just she did when I was growing up. I want my kids to look back with fond memories for decorating for the holidays like I do. Okay, enough of the sentimental stuff. Here's what you're really after...

Hi there, Sarah's Mom here, showing you how I decorate my Thanksgiving table. I love setting the table for holiday events, I start with the end in mind, which is that I want each person's place setting to feel cozy and luxurious.  I set the table 2 days ahead of every holiday, that way if you find things you need, you have plenty of time to go find it.  I consider theme, colors, centerpiece, tableware, candles and flowers. The breakdown for this table looks like this:

First up is the base, the tablecloth. I think that a thick cloth under the place setting makes everything feel warm and inviting. So along with the two tablecloths, I also use a table pad. It can be anything really, if I don't have something that fits my table, sometimes I'll just throw a thick blanket under there, anything to give it that little extra cushion.

These are both 54 inch squares set with opposite points.  I've kept the tablecloths short because of my grandchildren~ just less to get tangled up in!

Next is the center piece. This table happens to be round, so for this particular center piece I decided to use my silver tray, the diameter of the tray I used is 18 inches and 3.5 inches deep.

I know I wanted some height so I started out with putting a riser in the middle of the tray. Next I added two rows of fall leaf garland, making sure to evenly distribute. When I saw the scarecrow I knew I wanted it to be my main focus, so I added him next, moving the garland around to make room for him to sit flat. Then I started adding various gourds around, making sure the scarecrow is front and center.

The place setting doesn't have to be a matching set. Sometimes I like to mix and match what I have to make it more interesting. Mix glass sets and mix dish sets!

I added the flower vase, I couldn't find my crystal ones, so these pinks ones did the trick. I also added the accent plate, it is really there to look pretty and to be used for those random things that you might not think of, like the gravy boat. Mostly I thought they were cute and wanted them on the table. If I had found enough I might have used them for bread plates, etc.

As always feel free to substitute, like you can follow this same tutorial for a square table, but if you were to have a rectangle table I like to have three main pieces, one larger in the center and then two smaller things towards the end of the table, and then fill in the gaps, sort of like the mantel, but make sure to leave room for all of the platters the yummy food is going to be on.

The finished table.

If you want to take a peek at the rest of my Fall decorations, here ya go! First up is my mantle.  I used the same basic principals as my Halloween mantel.

If there is a spot I will fill it with something, I change out what's on this table seasonally. The picture/books always stay and then what's in front changes with my mood/season.

The little space on my counter always has something decorative. I think it's very inviting when someone walks in and sees something for the season.

Even the phone area gets decorated.

I am constantly tweaking, finding other decorations while I am out and adding and subtracting things as I go. Find things that you love and have fun finding places around your house to display them.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Doesn't this just get you totally pumped for the all of the holidays coming up and decorating for everything? I know I'm super motivated and ready to decorate! How about you? What's your favorite thing to decorate in your house?

Styling Outer Wear

Hello Foxy Fashion Friends! 3rd week of our October series over on The Blended Blog. Week 3 brings to us coats and vests...I love me a good jacket and vest.

The problem...today is suppose to be 95° out...we're headed towards the latter half of October and we're still in the 90's. Luckily this will hopefully be the last little push of warm weather and then we'll be headed towards cooler temps. Last week it was 75 and I totally broke out the leggings and booties...

Here is what I want to be wearing, so come next week when the temps are low 70's, I might have to break this outfit out. This vest was from Old Navy last year, and it has a fleece lining...okay so maybe I won't be breaking this outfit out any time soon. But a girl can dream can't she?

I bought this jacket at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale back in July. I fell in love with that pink color and never looked back. Even though I need another jacket like I need a hole in my head...but hey it's pink, it has cute pockets and a nice line...what can I say I'm a sucker for a good jacket. Now...where to wear it.

Family Photo Outfit Ideas

One of my favorite things each year is family photos, which by the way, we never did when it was just Mr. and I. Only when we had our son did I really jump on the yearly family photo train, here, herehere, here and here.  I even did a whole post on how to pick out family photo outfits.

How to pick out family outfits

Since I did that post back in July, some of the things I picked out are no longer available so I thought I would give you some new ideas for family photos. It's never too early to start, and picture time is upon us, I know, how did the time pass so quickly! I thought I would give you a few outfits/ideas how you can dress your family this holiday season!

Family Outfit #1

I know for me I like to multipurpose whatever we wear for family photos for another occasion, these outfits could definitely be used again for Christmas. I adore that polka dot dress for the mom, and the little girls dress just compliments it so well.

Family Outfit #2

Sometimes when we're doing photos, I don't always want to be wearing Christmas colors. I like to be able to hang these pictures in my house year round and not have it remind me of Christmas year round, so I pick other colors out. I picture this family taking their family pictures at the beach.

Family Outfit #3

As you can see the previous two outfits were sort of warm weather outfits, living where I am, usually when we are taking photos for Christmas cards, it's boiling hot. But for those of you that live in colder weather here's an option for you. This family is taking their pictures at in some woodsy area with lots of Fall leaves on the ground.

Of course I have some cute jacket options for the girls in the family, because we all know the girls are going to be cold. How cute are these navy coats with these outfits. Although it would cover up the cute outfits, I think the navy coats would be adorable.
