5 Beauty Hacks

Hi Foxy Friends! Today I'm linking up with The Blended Blog and we're sharing all of our beauty hacks. I figured I'd make it an odd number and do 5, 3 seemed not enough, 4 seemed weird...so 5 it is.


If you want great curls in the morning, a quick hack is to curl your hair with a thin curling iron (I use a 19mm wand) and I make 6 big spirl curls. I leave them as is, hair spray them and sleep in it. Don't need to wrap it or anything, when you wake up, use your fingers to comb through your hair and you'll have soft curls.




This dry shampoo puts all other dry shampoos to shame. It gets rid of the grease and it lifts your hair from the roots, unlike other dry shampoos that somewhat get rid of the grease, but leaves it a little flat. Trust me I've tried all different kinds of dry shampoo, up until this week my favorite was this one, but no longer, I'm ONLY going to buy the IGK one. Seriously it looked like first day hair...although didn't feel like it, but it would be the perfect time to do a fancy hair style with the grit and lift that it left. If you have clean hair and you want to give it some texture and life you use this Amika Un.Done Texture Spray! Helps to give your hair some life without having to go 5 days of not washing it to get that look.

Now that your hair style is done, you have to use this, to tame those fly aways. You'll wonder how you went so long without this product in your life.


Next hack, I always thought you used a comb to tease your hair, but this teasing brush gets the job done way faster with way less steps! See this video on how to tease your hair.




Last hack, you need to get better bobby pins. Sounds easy, and not really hackish, but seriously once I started using better ones, my hair game went up, the styles I was doing was holding better and longer. They come in bronzesilver and black. I'm sure you can get quality bobby pins at Sally Beauty Supply too, so bottom line...drop the drug store bobby pins and get something better. Also did you know that the bumps go down? Yep, that's what holds your hair in place, those bumps, so take advantage and use those bumps against your head. See this video on how to use a bobby pin correctly.

5 Tips For Going to BeautyCon + Free Stuff Haul

Hello Foxy Friends! I wanted to try and get this up as quick as possible, but I'm sharing all of the things I got from BeautyCon LA 2018. Plus I thought it would be helpful to give you some tips for going to BeautyCon, since we went in not knowing what to expect. I figured other people might want some pointers to going to BeautyCon.




Bring Snacks! At least at the LA convention center, the surrounding restaurants opened at 11, and there isn't much else around. I would either eat breakfast before you get there, and bring food to eat later in the day. The lines are long, and we went and got food first which made it so that we got to the venue about noon, which is when our pass got us in. However, it took us an hour of waiting in line to actually get in. Which brings me to the next tip.


We ended up getting frozen yogurt until we could get real food!


Go early! If you can, I would actually try and get the early pass, I'm not sure exactly how they distinguish early pass from a later pass, but get there early! Get in line and eat your food. At least at the Los Angeles Convention center, you want to be in the shade, because being in the sun is hot and sweaty.




Go with friends! I think the perfect numbers is 3 other people, so 4 all together. That way, people can wait in pairs, and you can wait in line while others go scope stuff out and get samples. The more people you have roaming about the more samples you can check out and see which lines you want to wait in.

Speaking of samples, ask for them! If you see a booth, ask what they are giving away. Decide if waiting in line is worth it to you. So many times we asked, hey do you know what they are giving away, and they would say, no...I would think, then why are you waiting in this line? You only have so much time there, and you need to maximize it.



I cannot stress this enough! Wear comfortable shoes! I wore tennis shoes and a romper. I was super comfortable all day walking and standing in line. I think 95% of the people there were wearing flats. It makes sense when you are going to be on your feet all day. All those that wore heels, probably didn't know better. Trust me, everyone is full out make up and cute outfits, from the knees up, then they wore sensible shoes.

What to wear to BeautyCon


Bonus: Bring a backpack so you can hold all of your stuff! It distributes the weight and makes it easier to carry everything. There is a coat check if you need it too. So fill it up, put some in coat check and get all the samples you can!

Fall FabFitFun Box

Happy Thursday Foxy Friends! Good news, the project I thought was due tomorrow, is actually due next week, so I'm not stressing as much, so that's good :) Anyway, on to more fun things, like the FabFitFun box, have you heard of it? 10 Must Haves For Your Beauty Routine

When I saw Becky do this, I knew I had to participate in it too. Each month there is a topic to discuss and it's numbered, there is nothing better then that. Seriously, here are the topics for the rest of the year. Thanks Erin for hosting.


Last year I showed you my make up stash and things in my bathroom drawers.



Today I decided to tell you the things in my bathroom drawers that are must haves. In full disclosure, I am counting the drawers that I have below my sink...


Side note: I completely redid my bathroom at the beginning of the year, took pictures, filmed a video and have yet to put it together...new goal: finish this project and put it on the blog before the end of the year.

Okay let's get to the products:

I use every single one of this products on repeat throughout the month. 

#1 - Best eyebrow pencil, thick end to let you get a lot done at once, best for this lady who is short on time.
#2 - I have used up 3 of these, and moving onto my 4th one, that's how much I love it.
#3 -  I have tried other dry shampoos but that one is by far the BEST one.
#4 - My favorite eyelashes, although there is a brand from Walmart called Kiss that might make it's way into the main drawer soon.
#5 - Best eyelash curler for almond shaped eyes like myself..
#6 - I have become obsessed with and may or may not own 10 colors...with more wants on the list...I have a problem! 
#7 - I'm on my second one of this jar of concealer. Love this stuff.
#8 - Hands down best bobby pins, if you are using the drug store ones, stop what you're doing and order this, it's only $5 or so, worth it!
#9 - I usually go with fake lashes and don't use mascara but when I do mascara on top of my fakes I use this. My real eyelashes are so short no amount of mascara will make you see them. 
#10 - Best all around make up palette, so many looks with one palette.

Show and Tell Tuesday - Show Us your Beauty Routine

Hi! Remember when I tried to do the Get Ready With Me and Failed? Well I still haven't redone another video, but I thought since Andrea was asking, I would tell you what products I do use. I'm going to be honest with you, I wake up at 4:30 everyday for work, I work in a cave that has no windows and I rarely go outside. That being said I keep my make up to a minimum for work days. Just enough to make me not look totally zombie like. This is what I use everyday. No lipstick, no lipgloss, no eye make up...just enough to not look dead and to even out skin tone.


For the weekends, sometimes I add foundation, but I always use one if not both of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar (which really does smell like chocolate and makes me want to eat it) or the Urban Decay Naked Palette. Both of them rock my world, I love them both so much. I am still in the process of learning to go outside of the box and do different eye make-up looks, but for now, I typically use the same shadows.

Getting Fancy Make Up Look

Make Up Forever HD Foundation* - M123, Urban Decay Naked Palette*, Too Faced Chocolate Palette*, Ardell 120 Demi*, Stila Eyeliner*, Shiseido Eyelash Curler*


I mostly use the Chocolate Palette, here are the colors I typically gravitate to:

Pictures never come out like how you think they will, but this is a full face (no foundation), takes me about 25 minutes. Working on shortening that time.



 I'm a lipstick gal through and through, my current faves are:



I know you want to know how I take this all off right? I use this* stuff, I'm sure there are cheaper ways to go, but I've been using this for so long it's hard to change stuff you already like, ya know?


  Then I follow up with a face wash and cream...sometimes I use my Clarisonic*.



Shampoo I like to use


But also use this



Shampoo* and Conditioner*



I use this* every other week or so, leaves my hair feeling so silky and shiny


And I use this* when my hair is feeling really blah and weighed down. It sort of strips all of the extra goop on your hair. It's not a conditioner, so your hair sort of feels "gritty" when washing it, but then after it's dried you have never felt your hair so soft. It gets rid of all that built up product on your hair.




Okay, I think that is everything I have the patience for right now :) Perhaps another post with hair products and what I do to my hair will come soon.
