Halloween Wreath

Hello Foxy Friends! Sorry I was a little MIA last week. I was on business travel, and of course the first time I traveled in 7 years and it's during a hurricane...opps! All is good though, we got out Thursday morning, but the hotels we were staying at...the internet sucked, so it was hard to get online to do anything. Sorry about that, I'll be playing catch up this week! :) It's good to be home, that's all I can say. I hope for all of you that live in the path of Hurricane Matthew, that he was gentle on you and there was no damage.

I was at Target in the dollar section, where else, and found some fun goodies that I thought would be fun to put on a Halloween Wreath.

What You'll Need:

Burlap Wreath (How to Make Burlap Wreath)
Black and White Ribbon (I got mine at Hobby Lobby for $3.99, it was 50% off)
Optional: You could use  black burlap if you would prefer that over the ribbon or this* or this* would be fun)
Black Tulle*, or fabric to make a bow (like this* or this*)
Bat Garland
Optional: Find something that you could repeat around the wreath, I happen to find the bat garland at Target for $3
Chalk Board (I got mine at Hobby Lobby for about $4, used a 40% off coupon)
Optional: A sign you find that might work (Hobby Lobby is a great place to find something like this*)
Floral Wire*

Directions

I actually used the Mermaid Wreath I made for Mini Fox's Birthday Party.

Step 1:

I was going to sell it, but decided I was just going to repurpose it instead, too much work to sell it. So I took it apart and ended up with this:

Sort of sparse because I had two other colors of burlap in there...I didn't have any other burlap to fill in the gaps so pulled a Tim Gunn and I made this work. To show you that you don't need a ton to make a good looking wreath.

I first added the ribbon that I found laying around the house to fill in the blank space.

See already looking better right?

Step 2:

I then used the bat garland I found at the Target Dollar Spot (although it was a $3 item), and took the bats off of the string. I decided, like always, I want this to be reuseable, so I added wire to the back of the bats.

In the end I had 8 bats

Step 3:

Put the bats on the wreath, I alternated colors, but you could do whatever you wanted.

Step 4:

Creating a bow, I happen to have some left over black tulle laying around, but you can find fat quarters of fabric at Joann's in whatever season your in...Or just ask for 1/8 yard of fabric.

For this bow, I just wound the tulle up in the length I wanted the bow, and then had to figure out what to put in the middle, to tie it all together. I of course used my trusty floral wire to wrap it around the middle of the bow, and then I'll use it to tie it to the wreath as well. The pom pom garland actually came with the bat garland, totally random I know, I figured why not, and wrapped that around the middle a couple of times. I think it turned out great.

Step 5:

Using the floral wire I attached it to the wreath.

Step 6:

The last piece is adding the chalk board to the middle. Write something crafty and attach to the wreath. I think that having a cute sign would look great as well.

Here is what it looks like on my front door. I think it looks great! And when it's all said and done it only cost me $3 plus tax to make this since I had everything on hand.

I've been saying this since the beginning that you don't have to spend a lot on wreaths. Now I've shown you how you can throw together a fun Halloween wreath for just a fraction of the cost of buying one! You just need a base burlap wreath to start and each season you can change out the decorations and call it a day. Friday Favorites #90

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! I am home safe and sound, I was in Florida for work and had to cut it short due to Hurricane Matthew. Hoping everyone affected by the hurricane stays safe and that their home comes out on the other side when this is all over.
In case you missed it this week on the blog:

Monday: September in Numbers
Tuesday: Stranded - What Candy I would Bring
Wednesday: Fall Sweaters
Thursday: Sentence a Day-September
While I was away, I had this awesome view, but because of work, it was always dark when I was coming and going. Finally I remembered to open the curtains to watch the sunrise, so pretty.

This was taken at 6:46am on Wednesday.

This was taken at 7:25am, pretty right?

This is the calm before hurricane Matthew, really hoping that everyone stays safe. This was what the predicition was for Friday's weather...do you see how high those winds are? And this was a snapshot from Wednesday night for Friday's weather.

While I didn't particularly want to go on travel, I did get to see my godparents while I was there, I haven't seen them in a few years, so it was really nice to see them.

When daddy watches them he lets the kids do this...he's doing pretty good considering he is wearing flip flops.

Pictures from the hubby of him and the kids.

I know it's like beating a dead horse, but seriously I just saw this pop up in youtube...eeeekkkk so excited! All the boys are back! I cannot wait!

Sorry I don't have more, I was traveling all week. I'll be back commenting and reading blogs this weekend! What are you doing this weekend? We're going to a fundraiser where I'm in charge of bringing all of the centerpieces...that's 40 arrangements...

20 more to go....

Stranded On A Deserted Island...I Would Bring...

Once a month Erika and Shay host a link up where they talk about what three items we would want with them on a deserted island. This month it's what Halloween candy we would bring.

Hand down without a doubt I would bring Candy Corn, seriously why is candy corn so good, but only in October, I would never even think to buy it any other month.

My second choice would definitely be something gummy, currently I'm obsessed with Swedish Fish...like can't get enough of them, would eat them all day everyday if it was healthy...it's not so it's only every other day. You know have to have some sort of limit.

Last Candy I would bring is a Kit Kat, well it was a toss up between Twix and Kit Kat, but Kit Kat won out because I think I would ultimately get tired of the caramel, I don't think I would ever get tired of eating Kit Kats, especially ones from Europe, they just taste different than here and are SO much better if you can imagine.

I'm a little early with this one, link up isn't until October 12, so you still have time to tell us what candy you would bring to a deserted island with you.

September in Numbers

Happy Monday Foxy Friends! Today I'm joining the lovely Deena for her Month in Numbers link up. I love looking back on the month and seeing all that I have done. So let's get started.

12 - The number of selfies I took this month,  this number just keeps going down. hmmm....

365 - The number of days we had a Disneyland pass...we did one last trip before they expired and we had a blast.

5 - The number of days Mr. was on a business trip, we survived.

3 - The number of years Mini Fox has been alive. I can't believe she is 3!!!

Last day as a 2 year old

She's 3!!!!

1 - The number of Little Mermaid birthday parties I threw. She said it was the best day EVER! Just her and her cousins, it really was a great day.

1 - the number of family photos sessions we had. The location I wanted to take our pictures at made it so that we had to take them early September if we didn't want other people in photo background. Sneak peak...

3 - The number of soccer games we play in September. Everyone is having  a blast, it's actually fun to watch it this year. Practice before the game.

1 - The number of sleep overs that happened at our house. The boys were great and went right to sleep when we told them to.

0 - no cavities for the kids! woo hoo!

5 - the number of shots I got this month, 4 for allergy, 1 for the flu

I took this picture because the sky was so pretty, but it was too hard to get both us and the sunset...but I took this just as we were coming out of the allergy shot place.

22 - The number of days Baby Fox has been in school and loving it. He even likes homework...we'll see how long that lasts!

I think that's it...I'm all numbered out. Hope you had a great weekend! What are some of your number from the month?
