Summer Photo Tips

Hey Foxy Friends. Today we're back with some more Summer fun. This time we're talking about Summer photo tips. If you're hopping over from Nicole's blog, welcome. I'm going to leave all of the professional tips to Nicole. My tip is going to be short and sweet. One of my pet peeves of the iPhone or phone pictures is when people have fuzzy pictures like this. Is this how some of your pictures turn out?

All you have to do to fix this problem, clean the lens. I took a picture of me and my mom and it was clear and all I had to do to get this blurry picture is touch my phone to my face with the make up and it made it that fuzzy picture. Wipe off the camera when you see this and you'll get this picture.

So next time you have a fuzzy picture, think of this, whip off the lens and snap your beautifully crisp photo.

Now go hop on over the Shelly's blog to see what photo tips she has for you.

Friday Favorites #122

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! I decided to take most of today off, woo hoo! Going to work from home a little in the morning and then take the rest of the day off to prepare for Baby Fox's half birthday party and take Mini Fox to her first dress rehearsal for her ballet recital. So excited to see her in her cute little costume. Expect lots of pictures next week. Onto my Friday Favorites!

In case you missed it on the blog this week.

Monday: 4th of July Target Haul
Tuesday:  Tuesday Thoughts
Wednesday: Two Summer Hair Styles
Thursday: CaseApp Review <- Win a free phone or ipad case, go enter there

Here's another hair tutorial I did this week too.

Last Friday was Baby Fox's last day of Kindergarten. He did fantastic and he is so excited to start 1st grade.  He obliged and took this photo for me.

Mr. was the one who dropped him off, because this little lady was still sleeping. So when she woke up she got some Daddy and Mommy time on her own and we went to get some donuts. We just found this place, thanks to my dad and it has THE BEST DONUTS EVER! See the line there, we went about 9am on Friday...line out the door. Must be good right?

Then we picked this guy up a couple of hours later, and he had a great last day of school, he even got an emoji ball.

We also let the kids decide what they want to do to celebrate their last day of school. Baby Fox said he wanted to get In and Out and have a picnic at the park and ride his bike, so that's exactly what we did...the kids did great considering it was 91° out.

Then we took this girl to her very last dance class of the season. We're taking the summer off because we have so many weekends away it just doesn't make sense. But they were showcasing what they have been working on. And what they're going to do at the dance recital tomorrow. Her outfit is so dang cute, I can't even handle it!

Originally Baby Fox wanted to go out to dinner, but since lunch was a little on the late side, he decided that he wanted to go swimming instead. Shhh...don't tell Mr. I posted this, he said this isn't going on the blog is it?

Saturday, we headed to do our gym routine and then when we got back we had some friends over for some swimming and dinner. It was really fun, I just love these people.

Sunday was Father's Day and we pretty much did everything that Mr. wanted. I forgot to take pictures of dinner, darn it. Oh well, it was this Honey Lime Shrimp and it didn't disappoint. He also wanted Carrot Cake, so Mini Fox helped me with that.

And of course more swimming, my kids are going to turn into fish soon. But they love every second of it and Mini Fox is really getting much better. One of Mr.'s wishes was for me to go in, so I got in with the kids, they loved it.

What's a family diner without a selfie? It's not that's what it is. My dad, back there waving the camera, such a dork. I love that Baby Fox is trying to do bunny ears on me and that Mini Fox can't even put down her avocado to take a picture.

It was a great weekend celebrating and of course, just like Mother's Day, I forgot to get a picture with Mr. and the kids, darn. One of these years I'm going to remember.

Shelly from Queen In Between was over on The Blended Blog with her very first post as a contributor this week sharing some clean eating recipes. She shared this chicken salad...yum! Has all of my favorite things in it, chicken, avocado and bacon. Anything with bacon is delicious right?

Cornia has a great thought about capsule wardrobes. I'm always so hesitant because of not wanting to get rid of what I already have, but she put it in a good way. Create capsule wardrobes with what you have, so you're essentially creating mini capsules from what you have, so you really use what is in your closet. She's starting a 5x5 challenge, 5 pieces, 5 outfits. I won't be joining in this time, but I'm going to try this soon!

I was introduced to Alyssa from Alyssa Goes Bang through P!inky, and I just loved her article about real life in social media and just life in general.

Who else is super pumped about this movie? This really isn't the traditional trailer, but we do get some glimpses into some of the scenes. Can't wait till December, who's coming with me?!

I never really followed Jacyln Hill, but she is coming out (releases tomorrow) with her a collab palette with Morphe, which is so awesome. It took her two years to come up with all of the colors in it and it is absolutely gorgeous. Anyway, not the reason I'm showing you this video. She has an awesome tip at 6:20, where she uses translucent powder to help protect her foundation she's already applied from fallout, and to help create that sharp line with her eye shadow. You know how some people use tape? She uses this technique and it's awesome, so trying this out! Okay so her palette went on sale on Wednesday at 8am and you better believe that another friend and mine went in and each got one...I can't wait to get it!

Okay, you HAVE to see this girl in action, not only is she trying to bring back ventriloquy, she is freakin' amazing singer while doing it! How is that even possible?! She will blow you away. Simon even gave her the golden buzzer, now that is saying something!

So what are you up to this weekend, we have a really full weekend, ballet recital, half birthday party, LEGOLAND on Monday and my MIL is visiting, and then after she leaves my cousins are staying with us for a night. I might need Tuesday off too to recover from this long weekend. But at least I know it will be fun!

CaseApp Review

Thank You CaseApp for sponsoring this post. As always all opinions and thoughts are my own.

I was so excited when CaseApp approached me to receive some free products from them. I love getting custom iPhone cases for my phones. Specifically when they are pictures of my kids, cause who doesn't love looking at their kids pictures all the time? The first time I got an iPhone was a few years back and I quickly jumped on the picture on phone case band wagon. When I got my upgrade (courtesy of Mr.), I got another one right away. I typically just went with the cheapest thing I could find.

Enter CaseApp, their prices are awesome! No need to look for the cheapest price around, just go straight to CaseApp, and they got your covered, and most likely you can find a 20% off coupon code somewhere, so if mine is expired, just type in 20% off in google and I'm sure something will pop up. For now you can use FOXYSDOMESTICSIDE20 to get 20% off your next order.

They have a tougher case, which this girl really needs, and it covers the front side too, so I feel if you drop it, it's going to protect the corners of your precious phone. The website is SUPER easy to navigate and to upload pictures and designs, they even have a bunch of design, shapes and pictures you could add from their suite of graphics. Super easy, the only problem is...choosing what you want to get!

I just love this picture of the kids.

You can't tell, but it's a matte case. I really like the feel of it, as it doesn't feel slick and I don't feel like I'm going to drop it. The colors that are coming out here, don't do it justice, the colors are really vibrant and gorgeous, exactly how my pictures print out in person. I love how the picture wraps around the sides to make it more seamless.

I also got an iPad skin. I had no idea what this was when I ordered it. Quite honestly I thought it was going to be an actual case, I have no idea why I thought that. Anyway, I'm in love with it. It was so easy to apply, and doesn't make the iPad bulky at all.
It took me about 3 minutes to apply this perfectly, the fit was spot on. I think even though I accidentally ordered the skin instead of a case, I sort of like it better, it has a slight texture to it so you feel like you can get some grip on it. You could get a pattern on the front as well, but I didn't do that. I love it just the way it came out.

I also had a questions about one of the cases, and after I emailed the help center they emailed me back within 12 hours and had an answer for me. I love when they get right back to you, cause you know you're itching to buy whatever you need and want an answer RIGHT NOW.

I know you want one now, enter below and you could win a free case of your choosing!

Don't forget to use FOXYSDOMESTICSIDE20 for 20% off your next order in case you can't wait!

Hair Style #1

When Stephanie first suggested this blog hop, I thought, of course I'll do a summer hair style! What's better than one? Two summer hair styles! Actually I did one last week, but it was because I was doing this and I didn't want to post two videos on the same day to my YouTube Channel.  Last week I did a simple pony tail, but I gave it a twist, by adding a braid and made the pony tail fuller by added these clips to it.

First you want to part your hair on the far side (either left or right), then you want to create a small french braid, when you get to about where your eyebrow ends, stop adding in sections and braid it regular till it can reach a pony tail.

Then you want to pancake the braid, don't pancake the French braided part, as it doesn't really work. Once you are happy with the pancaking you'll want to either clip it off with a Croc Styling Clip or a small elastic band, both will be removed soon, so either will work.

Next you want to create a pony tail, put it where ever you feel comfortable, can be high or low. Most likely the placement of your pony tail will be dictated by the angle of your braid. Create the pony tail and just before you put the rubber band around your hair, add in your braid.

After the pony tail is set, use the mini clips, and add them into the base of your pony tail. I bought a pack that came with 3 black and 3 browns. For the first one, I seperated 2/3rds of my hair, and fliped it forward, and added a clip to the base. Then I flipped over half and added two clips, then I flipped over 1/3rd and added the last black clip.

Here is the finished look. Truth be told when after I had the kids and my hair was growing back, this was my go to style for the gym. Except I didn't add in the mini clips, but when you French braid the "bangs" it got all of those newbie hairs out of my face.

This is a pretty awful angle for my poor chin, I promise you I have one
Here is a side by side comparison.

Fake a Fuller Pony Tail

Here is the final look, I love that it gives the regular pony tail something a little more.

Here is the video in case you are a more, I need to see it live in person.

Hair Style #2

This next one is a fun casual half up do. I like it because it makes you look like you tried, when in all reality it is two braids, super easy right? I did this for our Niagara Falls Tour when I went to Canada.

I personally like curling my hair first, but you can do this style straight if you prefer. First you are going to do another far part in your hair. I part my hair on the right. Take a large side chunk of hair on the side that has more hair, for me it's my left side. If you want to go fancy, you can do the same french braid like you did for style #1. I personally like to leave some hair to cover my ear, but you could take all of the your hair before your ear. You want to braid enough so that it can reach the others side of your head.

Then pancake your braid, tie off with black elastic, or clear elastic depending on your hair color.

Then braid the other side of your head, if you French braided the first side, no need to do it on this side too, it looks weird.

Pancake this new side as well, ultimately you want to have the pancaked braids about the same size.

Now you have two pancaked braids that look like this:

Take the smaller side braid and cross behind head and pin to the other side of your head, bobby pin, try to keep the bobby pin horizontal to the floor, so the bobby pin will ultimately go through your braid.

Then take the larger side braid and cross to the other side of your head, tuck the end under the first braid that you crossed over.

Try to bobby pin this second braid so that you cannot see the pins. Since you tucked it under the first braid, you should be able to hide the pin with the first braid. This is your finished hair style.

Half Crown braided Hair

I also did this style with straight hair. Here's how it came out.

For those that want to see a video, here is a full video of this hair style.

I hope you learned something from one of these hair styles. If you do try one of these styles out, tag me in your photo @foxysdomesticside on IG and @foxysdomestic on twitter. Now go check out some other fun Summer Lovin' posts!

Usually I have a fashion link up, but because I'm doing this blog hop I am taking the week off. However The Blended Blog is still doing it, click here to go enter your fashion/style post!

Tuesday Thoughts

It's another Tuesday which means Tuesday talk with Ashley & Erika

Looking Forward To:

There are so many kids movies coming out this summer, which I guess makes sense because hello Summer break. Now that Mini Fox can go to the movies (read she can sit still for 2 hours), bring on the movies!

Cars 3, so far all of the reviews are pretty good.

Despicable Me 3 - Very appropriate, considering we're throwing a minions party on Sunday.

We were shopping at they had a DM3 photo op set up.

The Nut Job 2 - Haven't seen the first one, so perhaps we will watch that first then go see this one

Interested In:

I can't wait for all of the fun stuff that we have planned for Baby Fox. He is taking some awesome classes and I am really hoping that he's going to love all of them.

Annoyed At:

The new school that Baby Fox is going to next year, needs proof of residency. I asked them when I went in if I needed that, they said they didn't, so I threw the ones we had away. Now we have to go retrieve them and have someone take them over to the school before they shut down on Thursday. Fun times.

Enjoying:

Watching the kids swimming lessons. I love seeing them learn new things, especially Mini Fox gaining that independence that all kids love having in the pool. Hopefully soon she will be able to keep up with her brother in the pool.

Also enjoying the pool. It was relatively hot this weekend, we spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the pool, thankful that we got a house with a pool.

Loving:

When Mr. brings me home a surprise bean and cheese burrito, and then saves his guacamole and sour cream from his food so I can enjoy it, that's love right there. He loves guacamole, but gives me his because it makes me insanely happy, and he knows my drive home makes me super tired.
