Have You Met Lisa From Daily Style Finds

Hi Foxy Friends! I hope that you all had a great weekend! Today we're following the February theme of love and doing a Love Hop over on The Blend Blog, sharing things we love about our fellow Blended Bloggers. Meet Lisa:

She blogs over on Daily Style Finds, seriously I don't know how she does it day after day, but she finds THE BEST DEALS, and makes the cutest graphics to go with. Don't tell Mr. I find a lot of my deals through her, but, she does find good deals, so if you buy it on sale, it's like you're spending half the money right? #girlmath

I met Lisa when we all went to Toronto. Funny, we never took a picture with just us two, so next time we meet that IS going to happen Lisa! We did take some fun group shots though.

Things I love about Lisa and you should too.

1) She's always cold, which makes me feel better about myself, because I'm constantly cold. So we get each other on that level.

2) She knows how to make you feel like you are the only person in the room! She's a great listening and conservationist. You don't feel like she's just waiting her turn to talk next, and gives really sound advise too.

3) She's awesome to travel with, go with the flow kind of gal. I like that. But does speak up when she wants to do something specific, so you never wonder if it's really what she wants to do.

4) Girl likes to shop

So now that I've told you all the reasons to love her, go hop on over to her blog and tell me you don't want everything...too many good deals to be had! Plus she's loving on someone else in the group, go find out who it is!

If you want to start from the beginning, the Love Hop starts here, or just keep going until you get back to me, either way works!

Come back tomorrow, where I am going to tell you reasons I would not survive a zombie apocalypse.

The Best French Onion Soup

Hello Foxy Friends! Today I'm joining a few other bloggers for a little Fall Recipe Blog hop. When I was trying to figure out what I make for fall, we were/are still expereincing a heat wave. So the temps were pretty high, and it was hard to think Fall food when we are still wearing shorts and tank tops, haha. But I finally thought of something that both Mr. and I love! French Onion Soup.

What You'll Need:

1/4 Pound Butter
2-4 Pounds of Sweet Onions
1 Tablespoon of flour (2 Tablespoons if using 4 lbs of onion)
2 Quarts Beef Stock (if you prefer, you could use chicken stock, although I've never done this)
2 cups Dry White Wine (I picked Chardonnay)
salt and pepper to taste
Swiss Cheese
1 loaf French Breach

Directions:

Step 1:

Cut the onions, I cut off ends of onion, cut it in half and then use my food processor. I used to cut by hand, but this is SO much faster. Mr. and I LOVE onions, so we like to go heavy, and even with 4-5 pounds it's never enough! If you like the flavor but don't like all the onions, go on the 2 pound side.

Step 2:

Melt 2 Tablespoons (if using 2 pounds of onion, 4 tablespoons if using 4 pounds of onion) in a large pot.

Step 3:

Add in the onion. It will look like a ton but trust me, it cooks WAY down!

Cook until transparent and brown.

Step 4:

Add the flour, if using 2 pounds of onions us 1 tablespoon if using 4 pounds use 2 tablespoons. Mixing the flour with the onions will make it slightly sticky and gummy (for lack of better word).

Yep this is 4 pounds of onions...see I told you it cooked down, so don't skimp on the onions!

Step 5:

Add in the beef stock. I use Better than Bullion, but you can use what you want. Stir in and let it come to a boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes.

Step 6:

Add in the wine...and continue to simmer for 30-60 minutes. Know that the longer you simmer the better flavor you are going to have. If you start to lose too much liquid, partially cover it.

Side Note: We have tried all sorts of wines with this, whatever wine you chose it will have an undertone with that wine, so if you use 2 buck chuck, that is what it's going to have a slight taste of. Mr. says that this is the BEST one I had ever made, so after 12 years of searching I think we found the wine that made it the best. So get the Castle Rock Chardonnay while you can!

Step 7:

Meanwhile, cut your bread into thin slices, you can do this several ways. You can butter both sides, and broil, you can toast it like regular toast, then butter, or not butter.

Step 8:

Set oven to 375°. Over the years, Mr. and I have decided that we don't like putting the bread into the soup, like they normally do at resturants, we REALLY like the crunch the toast part gives, and it sometimes just gets soggy if your slices aren't thin enough, so we've ditched the putting the bread in. However, if you want to add the bread in the soup before melting the cheese do it as follows to keep the crunch.

Add soup to bowl, add a shredded layer of cheese, add the toast, add sliced layer of cheese. This sort of protects the bread a bit from the soup and it getting soggy. Put in oven until cheese is bubbly and golden.

There you have it, the BEST French Onion Soup EVER!

Summer Photo Tips

Hey Foxy Friends. Today we're back with some more Summer fun. This time we're talking about Summer photo tips. If you're hopping over from Nicole's blog, welcome. I'm going to leave all of the professional tips to Nicole. My tip is going to be short and sweet. One of my pet peeves of the iPhone or phone pictures is when people have fuzzy pictures like this. Is this how some of your pictures turn out?

All you have to do to fix this problem, clean the lens. I took a picture of me and my mom and it was clear and all I had to do to get this blurry picture is touch my phone to my face with the make up and it made it that fuzzy picture. Wipe off the camera when you see this and you'll get this picture.

So next time you have a fuzzy picture, think of this, whip off the lens and snap your beautifully crisp photo.

Now go hop on over the Shelly's blog to see what photo tips she has for you.

Summer Plans Blog Hop

Hello Foxy Friends! Today I'm joining The Blended Blog ladies for some Summer planning talk. If you're coming over here from Andrea's blog, welcome!

Last year we took a trip to Cabo...I didn't do a full recap, but mentioned it here and here. With that trip and then we're trying to save up to go to Hawaii in 2018 for a couple of weeks, we decided to not take a big trip this summer. Instead we're doing a few long weekend getaways.

First trip we have is a trip with one of my bridesmaids and their family. They were living in D.C. area and finally made the move to Cali, only probably is we are about 7 hours away from each other, so we decided to meet in the middle and go to San  Luis Obispo. Curtis and I spent our 5 year anniversary there and had so much fun. Excited to take the kids here and go to the beach and hang out with good friends. The last time we went was for our 5 year anniversary. We had so much fun, knowing it was going to be one of our last trips before kids.

Second trip is another long weekend and we're going to Sequoia National Park with my brother and sister-in-law. They are hiking aficionados so, I'm doing none of the planning and going to follow their lead and do what they want. I assume we'll take some hikes, see some nature and try not to get eaten alive by the mosquito. This time we're staying in a hotel.  I've never been here, so I'm excited to explore and hike around.

Third Trip is the last weekend before school starts, and we're going with some friends up to Yosemite (about a 7 hour drive with no stops) to do a little camping and hiking. The kids keep asking when this is going to happen, they are so stinkin' excited to camp in a tent and do the whole thing. I'm nervous to say the least, but I'll just go in knowing that none of us are going to get any sleep. Monday morning is going to be rough for Baby Fox as he starts his first 8-2:30 day of school...fingers crossed he stays awake!

The last time we were in Yosemite, Mr. and I hiked Half Dome, long day, but worth it! We won't be doing half dome, but hopefully we'll be doing a lot of small hikes with the kids.

Those are the only trips we have on the books right now, and then we plan on doing a lot of swimming and hanging out with friends!

Now stop on over to Christy's blog to see what her summer plans are!

$10 Target Haul: May Edition

Hello Foxy Friends! I am joining some blogger friends to bring you our $10 Target haul, where you go to Target, find fun things for $10 then share all of the goodies that you found! Pretty easy right? I'm a sucker for the $1 bins in the front, I try to break free from that, but sometimes if you catch it just right, the goodies are too good to pass up.

Of course when I walked in I beelined it towards the $1, or sometimes $3 section and sometimes $5 section, haha. Anyway I found some great goodies this time around.

With summer right around the corner I was really tempted to buy these...but resisted because it's not quite time to fill the yard with blow up toys just yet.

The first thing I saw when we walked in was this cute white cake stand. I don't really have a cake stand and how many times are you throwing a party and think, if only I had a cake stand. Okay maybe never, but I thought I would get some good use out of it, give me some height in displays, so that quickly went into my cart. I new exactly what I wanted to do with it, put my new fake succulents on it that I got from Hobby Lobby...I just love the way it looks.

Since I just started making homemade popcorn again, I thought that these popcorn containers were super cute. I might even personalize them when I find time to get my new Cricut out. The Flamingo bottle was just cute. I'm really hoping the Mini Fox at some point wants a flamingo party...then I'll be all set and ready to go. Until then it will just have to look cute somewhere in the house, location TBD.

Of course I had them ring this up separate (you know because I really bought some other stuff too, like house old stuff that we needed), and then lost the receipt. I thought I took a picture of it, but can't find it. Darn it. But I did end up spending a little over, I think the total was around $10.56 or something like that.

I thought I would also show you some bloopers. Real life of a blogger behind the scenes. The kids happen to be eating popcorn when I was taking these pictures. I was going to try and get a picture of them using the containers, but time ran out and it never happened. I didn't have enough popcorn to fill the containers at the time, darn. Baby Fox wanted to show everyone what should have gone into the container.

Then he just straight up photobombed me.

I thought this was too funny. This is what it really looked like. Messy house and all.

Now go check out what some of the other bloggers bought with their $10, and link up yours below.

Favorite Sourthern California Park

Hello foxy friends! I'm back with the California moms talking about our favorite parks.

There are so many parks to go to, but the one my kids repeatedly love to go to is called Dinosaur Park. Here's the story behind the park:

So cool right? They have this big dinosaur at the beginning for the kids to climb on, which gives me heart palpitations but the kids love it. Excuse me while my heart might explode and my palms get sweaty.

The park itself is pretty big, so I'm going to concentrate on the park structure part of the park. It is broken down into three sections.  The first section is on the bottom, and has some sand for the kids to play in and has these turtles that spout water when you click on these buttons off to the side. It's so fun for the kids for those hot summer days.

You can tell that the buttons are well loved.

The second section on the bottom is a smaller playground for the little toddlers in your life. The one thing I don't like about it, the ramp to get to the slide is super steep and has no grip to it, so the newly walking kids (which it's made for) need help getting up.

The top section has a playground for bigger kids and the swings. My kids love playing on this, and that slide over there is actually pretty scary for me, but the kids love it and can go up and down for forever.

The park is a great place to picnic too. The grounds are kept up really nicely, I know a lot of people hold parties on the bench areas and sometimes even rent bounce houses. This is also where Baby Fox plays baseball, there are three fields, one little league field and two bigger kid fields. Plus there is a huge soccer area where several games are played at a time during soccer season. There is always something going on and/or something to watch.

Do you have a go to park in your area? There are so many to choose from around us, they really built this community around parks and bike/jogging paths. When we moved here we had no idea all that existed and we are so glad that we did!

Now go check out some of the other California mom's and see where their favorite parks are!

Spring Hair Style + Blog Hop

Happy Spring Foxy Friends! If you're stopping by one of the Spring Blog Hoppers, welcome to my little space. If you're starting here, don't forget to check out all of the other awesome ladies and their Spring Time posts.

Since I've been doing my Hair 101 series, I thought that I would do a Spring time hair style. Back when I challenged myself to a year long hair styling challenge, this was my very first hair style I tried. This was my first time doing ANYTHING to my hair other than a ponytail, this is how it came out, this was the original post.

If you don't want to follow the pictures, jump to the end of the post for a video that I made. This is a super simple hair style, all you need is a small hair tie and some bobby pins.

Step 1:

Tease a small section of hair at the top of your hair. If you don't know how to tease hair, click here for a tutorial.

Step 2:

Take a small section of hair (between your eye brows) to the back of the crown of your head and tie it back.

Step 3:

Take a small section on one side of your head and twist it away from you face. Pin it over the hair tie on the opposite side.

It should look like this when you're done.

Step 4:

Do the same thing on the other side, take a small section and then twist away from your face, pin it down on the opposite side, but just below the first twist.

Step 5 and 6:

Repeat step 3 and 4, to create two more twists.

This is your finished style. See how easy that was? Now get to styling and go impress your friends.

Now for that video that I promised you. Click here to see some other hair videos.
Looking for more Spring Inspiration? I've joined a handful of my favorite bloggers to put together a Spring Blog Hop. Just click on each link below to discover new, fun ideas for Spring.

On a side note, to keep up with the Spring time theme, the ladies over at The Blended Blog decided to host a Spring Time Fun Link up. Each week is a different category to talk about, but if you don't want to talk about that, then post anything Spring Time fun! We're here to have fun!
