What To Wear To A Wedding As a Guest

Hi Foxy Friends! The summer is here, well our weather seems to be forgetting to be warm, I'm sure I'll be eating these words a few weeks from now, but for now, we're waiting for the sun to come out. With summer times, means weddings, wedding showers and baby showers and all sorts of fun outdoor parties! Here are a few of my favorite, at the bottom I give you idea how to style them.

Fun Fact: I've been in 8 weddings

That fun fact up there...are just the weddings I've been in the wedding party, or my own, haha. I've been to countless other weddings. This one time I was going to wear the same dress another girl wore, but couldn't find it in my closet when i went to put it on, turns out a friend had borrowed it and I forgot! Good thing, how embarrassing to wear the same dress.

Okay onto some pretty dresses for wedding season that is upon us!

I love all of the casual options because really you can wear them on any Summer day, add some sandals like these to dress down the outfit a bit.

JumpSuits

I love me a good jumpsuit, these ones are super comfy, are flowy enough to keep you cool and they make you look good, despite just throwing it on. Here's how you can style them:

Formal

I love a good formal outfit for a wedding. No better excuse to get dressed up, I sway towards formal wear for weddings.

Create 28 Maxi Dress and Hair Challenge Week 23

Last week was the last week for our Style Perspectives, in case you missed it you can see the last 16 weeks here. Don't worry The Blended Blog ladies have something else in store for you! We are doing a Create 28, created by our very own Whitney and Carrie.

I didn't have time to do all of the looks, but my day was day 5, how to dress for a Warm Weather Wedding. I even gave you several options for great summer wedding dresses and how I would style one of them.  Here's a preview of what I'm wearing to a wedding I'm going to at the end of this month:

I also decided to style a Maxi Dress, I just love maxi dresses in the summer, super easy to wear, you can dress them up or down and they just make you feel a little more put together.

I'm loving that I can take the dress I wore for our family pictures and dress it down by simply adding a vest.

For the hair, I don't know about you, but I know I like having my hair up. There are a bunch of up ponytails that I want to try out come summer. But I really like this one. Pretty easy to do, and it looks fancy right?

Up close, I wish I could have changed the bottom topsy tail, next time.

Now onto the hair challenge, week 23 yikes! Where did the time go? I decided to change up my top knot and add a tiny French braid to it. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Saturday I decided to do the triple French Braid again. It's hard to see it in the pictures, but it did turn out better than the first I think.

Sunday to go home I just needed my hair out of my face, so I turned to my favorite side braid, super easy to do and quick but makes it look like I tried.

Go over to The Blended Blog to check out a recap of our last Style Perspectives: A Summer dress by the lovely Andrea from Living On Cloud Nine. I think everyone smashed it out of the park.

Now for next weeks prompts for Create 28. I hope you decide to style one of these next week and link up with us next Wednesday!

Don't forget to enter my $200 giveaway to Target! Woo hoo!

Create 28: A Summer Wedding Style

Welcome to day 5 of Create 28. In case you are new here, Create 28 was created by The Blended Blog's very own Carrie and Whitney, they've let us take over and we're going to do our best to make them proud.

If you missed some days, fear not, we are recapping each week every Wednesday on The Blended Blog with a link up. Feel free to join in on this weeks prompts, pick what you want and link up! Go check out Sheila's Nautical look from yesterday!

Okay now that introductions are out of the way, let gets to my prompt, Warm Weather Weddings. I can tell you that I have been to my fair share of weddings, heck I've been a bridesmaid in 7 weddings! There was a time when we were going to 4-5 weddings a year. Most of the weddings that I have been to are on the fancier side, so I tend to go somewhat fancier in my attired. But I always feel it's better to be over dressed than under dressed. My go to wedding look and still is a favorite is a strapless A line dress, and usually I pair it with some sort of colored shawl. Most times though the weddings I go to are inside so a shawl isn't needed, but I like to have one with me, just in case.

And one with pockets...even better...

First time away from Baby Fox when he was 6 months old...

We actually have a wedding coming up on June 25th, and I'm going outside my norm and wearing this cute skirt and lace top (which I bought back in December, knowing I had this wedding to go to).  I think it's just perfect for a warm summer wedding. You can see other ways to style this skirt by Grace, here and here.

Here are some other dresses I would pick for a warm weather wedding. Any one of these could be styled up with some heels, cute accessories and a clutch. I tried to give you a variety of choices, solid colors, textured and floral. Hopefully you find something in here that you like!

Row 2   Dress 1 // Dress 2 // Dress 3 // Dress 4
Row 3   Dress 1 // Dress 2 // Dress 3 // Dress 4

If I could pick any of the above dresses, I would pick this one. If I didn't already have the outfit for the wedding I'm going to I would snatch this up in a second. I think it's just so feminine and perfect for a warm summer wedding with the lace sleeves.

Wedding Video Highlights

Happy Thursday Foxy Friends! Yay for Thursday, tomorrow is Friday and the weekend, so it's practically the weekend already.

Mr. and my wedding anniversary is on Saturday, so I figured I would show you the highlights video that our videographer put together. For those of you engaged I highly recommend having someone, anyone record your wedding. If you can't afford one, just have a friend do it. It is so worth it and now every year on our anniversary we watch our vows and our wedding and we get to relive the whole day over...more than just pictures. As a bride you don't get to see everyone walking down the isle, but with a videographer you get to see everything. The day is such a blur that it's nice to relive it with more than just pictures.

I can't even believe that we've been married for 11 years, the time has flown by so fast, and I wouldn't want to share this with anyone else. Good thing, since it seems like I'm stuck with him :)

Happy, almost 11 year anniversary Mr.!

Tell me in the comments below how long you've been married or been with your significant other!

P.S. funny enough, I'm going to a wedding shower on Saturday...such a great way to celebrate our anniversary, although we won't be together...haha. We'll at least get the evening together.

From My Closet: Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Hey all, Happy Friday! First week back after break and we made it! What better way then to celebrate with friends. A few of us from the Style Challenge decided we didn't want the fun to end, so we're bringing you Style Me Bloggers Link up for the next 4 months, join us won't you?! This week we're talking about things in our closet: something old, something new, something borrowed, something in the shade of blue and just because something from my wedding.

Something Borrowed

This might be weird, but my friend actually borrowed my wedding dress. Yep that's right, she was doing a traditional Chinese wedding, and wanted a Chinese dress along with a traditional dress, so she asked to borrow my wedding dress, I think she looked fantastic! And I'm so happy that my dress got to make more then one person incredibly happy. It deserved it, I loved that dress so much!

My friend and her new husband...and guess who married them? Mr!

Something New

This is what Mr. got me for Christmas. My old leather jacket was from high school...I just recently gave it to my mom.

Love the quilted detailing on the back.

I threw it on last night to show you, sorry about looking like a mess. The kids were actually running around naked waiting for their bath, lol. Life of a mommy blogger right? But I'm so excited to start styling this jacket and I think I'll have it for years to come.

Something Blue

Love this blue tunic in my closet, I think it's the zipper detail that I love the most. Side note: it really does unzip and then it's just a weird off the shoulders thing, I wouldn't advise it.

Something Old

I think this is the oldest thing in my closet. It's from 10th grade...that's 20 years ago my friends..wait just I just really date myself...yikes! I sound old. Anyway, I needed a wind ensemble dress (Did I ever tell you guys before I was in band and played the trombone? That's for another day and another story) and my dad took me dress shopping, we went to Windsors Fashion...and we got this dress for a steal! I think it was under $20! Mark down on top of mark down on top of mark down...we ran out of there thinking they would take it back! And yes my Dad took me shopping, not sure why, but for some reason it was his duty to help find me a black wind ensemble dress. I always had good luck finding stuff when he was with me. I should take him shopping more often, lol.

Slutty back right? I can't believe my dad let me get this! I wore this for the next three years of performances. I wish I had pictures...but I could only find one.

I guess taking pictures while at a concert was too hard. I wore it to a winter formal one year. My hair looks funny here, but in real life it was super pretty. I think my hair is just so black that everything just blends together and you can't see any lines that it was creating.

Yep I had full on bangs in high school...dork city!

Something From Our Wedding

Since we're celebrating our 10 year anniversary this year, I thought I would share something that is still in my closet from our rehearsal dinner...I'm realizing I don't ever let anything go, that's probably why my closet looks like this. Again wasn't even shopping for a rehearsal dress, I think we were just out Christmas shopping and guess who was there? Dad, he really is good luck. I fell in love with this dress right when I saw it. The beading detail, I think that's what got me.

Don't know what I would do without these ladies in my life. I met them both in college freshman year.

Now go check out the other ladies and what they found in their closets.
