Fun Fact Friday

Another Friday is here, yay TGIF!!!! Okay so I have the day off, but for those of you who are working, yay! Weekend is upon us! I'm currently at my parents hanging out with family, and letting Baby Fox get to know his Baby Fox Cousins.Which brings us, lovely readers, another installment of Fun Fact Friday...not sure how many Fun Facts Friday I'll have, but I'll go with it till I don't have any more to say. Of course in list form:

  • I still carry a day planner, I know, so 90's right? But I love opening my little day planner and seeing what I have to do for the month. Yep I still use Franklin Covey (is there anything else really?). I've had this same purple day planner for 18 years! Yes that's right, I should be a spokes person for Franklin and how indestructible they are. As you can see I color code it, so at a glance I know exactly what I have to do...dorky I know, but it's worked for me for 14 years, I don't think I adopted the color code until college, you know you're in class bored out of your mind and need something to occupy your time, because class obviously isn't.

  •  I met my husband a bar called Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood. He sat in the booth right across from me and my friends. All my friends were talking to someone in his group, we weren't talking to anyone, I walked around my booth to his booth, sat down and introduced myself. That's right, I picked HIM up! We were both dating people at the time (that is a whole other post).

  • I repeated the second grade. I wasn't failing but school did NOT come easily to me. I don't think I would be where I am today if I didn't repeat second grade, seeing as that math was my hardest subject back then (I could not get the concept of greater than and less than...what?!? You want the alligator to do what?) Fast forward 10 years and my engineering major made me take math classes up to what is equivalent to a Calculus 4. After I repeated second grade, math came easily and I was always a grade ahead in math, thank you parents for that!
  • Speaking of school, I have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering.
  • Mr. wants me to tell you, that he takes all of my outfit posts, he wants full credit.
Hope you enjoyed this weeks, Fun Fact Friday! Until next time! Have a great weekend!

I WAS a Pattern Mixing Virgin

And no longer will I ever think that patterns can't be mixed. I found this awesome sweater at Marshal's for $11, I was super excited. I've been looking for a stripped sweater, and this one is light weight for the fall weather (at least Southern California) fall weather.I initially put the polka dot shirt with this skirt but felt that it was missing something, so I went through all of my sweaters, of course picking this one out last...and right when I put it on, I thought, this totally works.

And the best part of the whole outfit you ask? You can roll the sleeves and there is this really cute button to tie it all up, I only discovered this little gem after I got it home, there might have been squeals of delight when I found it. Perfect for the weather that is not quite cold enough to actually be wearing a long sleeved sweater and getting strange looks, but I figure it's only supposed to get to the mid 80's, so with a rolled sleeve it totally makes it acceptable, right?

After putting the outfit together and trying to figure out what was missing, I thought more color! My pendant necklace would be perfect with this outfit.

So there you go, how I lost my pattern mixing virginity

I love Dresses

It's really hard for me to style dresses, I just like to throw them on and go. I really am trying to figure out how to style dresses...I think I need more accessories. But I felt with this dress having a cowl neck that it just needed a simple necklace and I'm ready to go.

Not sure if you can tell, but the belt has a bow on it. It's super cute and I think really makes the dress interesting.

 Dress - Macy's, Necklace - Ann Taylor, Ring - Francesca's Collection

I would also like to add that all of my outfits I've been wearing are things I'm in my closet...I am trying, as they say, "shopping my closet", so far so good, but I definitely think you'll be seeing new pieces come fall, if that ever gets here! Last week I bought a black blazer, You should see it sometime next week.

Because It's still 100° Outside

I know, you keep seeing all of us in Southern California keep posting about how hot it is, complain, complain, complain...but it really is! Yesterday my car told me it was 100° out, yes triple digits. Okay it might have said 100° for one block, but it still counts! So in light of the heat I wore this...short skirt, tank top (fancy tank top so it was okay to wear to work right?), of course I wore a sweater over it, but the sweater was more functional because work seems to think they need to keep the inside colder because it's hot outside...

Let's all Go Back to College!

Okay, not really. But I did go back to my college campus yesterday for an Alumni BBQ, they have one every year, since each class sizes are so small, they just have a BBQ for everyone and then they celebrate the 5, 10, 15, 20, etc, of that year over the weekend, ending in the BBQ on Sunday (which everyone is invited to) So this year is 2012, so this is our 10 year reunion, so it's was "our" year to go to all of the hoopla over the weekend. We decided we were just going to participate in the BBQ on Sunday.  And because So Cal has decided to have yet ANOTHER heat wave...I'm wearing shorts and a tank top.

We went swimming lots this weekend, when did they say that Fall was supposed to get here?

Fun Fact Friday

I don't have an outfit post for you today, so I figured since this blog is new and what makes for a good blog? Getting to know the person behind the blog, so I'm going to give you 5 fun facts about me, in bullet form, because I like lists (I won't even consider that part of my 5, see how generous I am?):

  • I'm a Virgo through and through, if you look it up 90% of that is me.
  • I was born in Seoul, Korea, was adopted and came to the States when I was 5 months old. My brother (9 months younger - yep you did that math right, my parents went from 1 kid to 3 kids in less than 6 months) and sister (5 years older, don't tell her I told you) are also adopted.                              This is who I call family:
Starting from the left: Brother, Sister, Mom, Dad, Me, Mr., Baby Fox

  • I majored in Electrical Engineering, how did I came to that major? It was a process of elimination, I didn't like anything else and I was good at math.
  • I make lists on a daily basis, sometimes I write stuff down I already did for the day just so I can cross them off, or I'll write down, eat breakfast (duh) or/and make dinner just so I can feel accomplished for the day when I see things crossed off.
  • Last but not least -  Just after graduation I bought myself a red Toyota Tacoma,  I named it Fred, and drove him up until I was 7.5 months pregnant when we bought a sedan, more practical to get baby in and out then a truck. I miss Fred dearly and sometimes wish we didn't have to sell him, I may or may not have cried a little when we sold him.
So there you have it, 6 fun facts about me. Until next time.

Bubble Bubble

Yes, that's right I jumped on the band wagon and bought a bubble necklace. I bought this necklace in my favorite color...when I was younger my parents thought I was color blind because whenever they would ask me what color something was, I would reply with blue-green...I digress.  My only problem, ALL of my shirts are v-necks (I have clastrophobic issues...I feel like I'm choking just thinking about it), everything I tried it with didn't look good. I started searching my favorite fashion blogs and saw that a lot of people paired their bubble necklaces with button up shirts. I can do that. This is what I came up with, I think it's very business casual and perfect for the office.
