Friday Favorites #68 - The One with Pentatonix

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! It's Friday, woo hoo! I have the day off, I wanted to take Baby Fox to Disneyland, but not sure if it's going to rain, so it's up in the air...poor guy, I already promised him...we'll see what happens. If not this week, then I'm going to take half day next week, so he's not totally disappointed. Anyway, onto my favorites this week!

In case you missed it on the blog this week!

Last Sunday, Mr. and I went on a double date with some good friends to dinner and a concert. The concert you ask? Pentatonix! Have you heard of them? Well if you've been living under a rock...they're an acapella group, who is so amazing, you're just standing there blown away by their talent. Seriously. See video below:

The concert started at 7:30, and we left our house at 3:30 (you just never know with LA traffic), and turns out Sunday traffic isn't too bad, we got there in a little over an hour and had the BEST dinner at Yard House. We sat there for 2.5 hours eating, laughing, talking....with NO children, I repeat, NO Children! It was glorious. We all said after dinner, wow that was amazing and the best part of the night hadn't even started yet! Didn't take any food pictures...was too busy stuffing my face.

Yerd House Near Staple Center

The great thing about the Microsoft Theater is there are so many great restaurants surrounding it. We walked out of Yard House, turned left and walked about 20 yards and there was the entrance to the Mircrosoft theater...and Staple Center, they have really made it a great place to be!

We got great seats as well!

Of course there were lots of selfies before the show.

The opening act. The first act wasn't anything to write home about, but the second one...amazing! They're called Us the Duo, they are a married couple who were trying to make it on their own but then realized that if they combined forces they could do so much more. They actually started on Vine
and recorded John Legends All of Me first, they now have 5 Million subscribers on Vine...crazy right?

Definitely made a fan out of me, they are a married couple and are just the cutest thing ever. Click here to see an interview with them on how they met, got started as Us the Duo, and more.  Here's some video from the concert of them. Now off to go buy everything they have!

How cute are they?

We were already on a high from Us the Duo and then out comes Pentatonix...like 30 minutes later...hehe. It was a sold out show, so there were a lot of people in that theater...we actually ended up with pretty good seats, not sure how that happened. Anyway.

The concert was amazing! I'll let these clips I put together speak for themselves...

One of my favorite things was when Kevin was on his cello and started to beat box, and then the group did a number with the cello was just adds another dimension that I love.

They even pulled up fans from the audience to sing with them, I'm fairly certain the girl sitting to the right (our right) of Scott was the daughter of the two guys in front of us, they were so excited and filmed the whole thing.

Overall it was one of the best nights, we got away with friends, had a leisure 2.5 dinner followed by the most amazing concert! Hope to have some more of these fun dates in the future!

How To French Braid Your Own Hair Tutorial

Hello Foxy Friends!

I thought since I am on week 19 of the hair challenge and so many of you said you didn't even know how to french braid your hair that I would show you how I French braid my own hair. I think my style is different than any other tutorials out there! I hope it makes sense and if you have any questions just let me know! Good luck, I know you can do it!

French Braid My Hair

Of course it's way easier in a video format, so here you go!

My main advice is to practice, practice, practice. Once you learn the steps, start practicing on the couch when you're watching tv at night. I would sit in my bed after my parents put me in bed and practice. I think it took me as an 8 year old an evening or two to learn how to French braid my own hair. If I can do it as an 8 year old, you can do it too! Don't get frustrated, you got this!

Let me know how it works out for you!

P.S. Also if you go to around 3:20 in the video, I get in a better grove and you can really see how to French Braid, before that is a lot of talk and starting the French Braid.

Style Perspectives: Leggings and a Scarf and Hair Challenge Week 18

Hello Foxy Fashion Friends. Yet another week of the Style Perspectives with The Blended Blog! I am loving seeing everyone style the prompts and meeting new people through the link up! Keep 'em coming!

This week Katie is up with her Leggings and a scarf look. This one was really hard for me to do, while I love scarves the weather here doesn't really warrant them in any other season but Winter...and when I say winter I really mean 1 month out of the year. I must admit I took these photos cause I really would wear this, but then thought it wasn't spring AT ALL, then took some more, but the outfit I picked...let's just say I thought I was following the leggings are not pants...but apparently not...not a good look. So here's what I did do :)

Of course you want to see the hair right? For the life of me I can't find the tutorial I did for this hair style...oops. if I find it I'll come back and link it. I think it's super fun and would even be fun with some soft curls. Next time I'll try that, that's if I can find the tutorial or remember how did this!

If you missed it last week, everyone styled a plaid look. Didn't everyone do a great job?

Now onto the Hair Challenge. This week was lame. I just wasn't feeling it this week. Mr. was gone most of the week so I worked from home, which left little desire to even get dressed. The only reason I did, was I had a few doctors appointments, no one wants to see me in my PJ's. So here is the one and only style I did this week from Missy Sue, it's called the Half Up Ladder Braid. I'm fairly certain I missed some pieces, but I was in a time crunch and only had 10 minutes to get it right. next time will be better. It was super fun to wear to the Pentatonix concert! Which I'll be recapping on Friday.

Maybe next week will be better...hopefully. I can do this! Get back on the band wagon!
Are you trying anything new for your hair. Over the next few weeks I'm going to stray from my favorite dry shampoo* and try a new one...I'll let you know how it goes.
*I did buy these with my own money, but linked products are affiliates and I will receive a small commission if you click on it. Thank you for your support!
Now go check out some of the other Blended Blog ladies and see how they styled their leggings and scarf look.

Sentence A Day: April Edition

I got this idea from Pinky...who got it from Rebecca. I thought it was such a good idea that I shared it with The Blended Blog Ladies and some of us decided to do it too. I just love how it's one sentence, so you have to be really intentional with how you word it to make you remember how you were feeling that day when you wrote it. We're going to do it again for the Month of May, so link up with us on June 2nd!

April:

1 - I ate a full piece of pizza for the first time in 8 years, and didn't get sick!

2 - Our 11 year anniversary was spent on afternoon dates with the kids and then a movie and a dinner date.

3 - The kids ate at Korean BBQ, I repeat the kids at Korean BBQ, liked it and asked for more.

4 - Mr. left for a week, insert sad face.

5 - Baby Fox finally got to do gymnastics at the gym and had homemade French fries, delicious!

6 - No gym because Baby Fox threw a massive screaming, crying fit.

7 -  Been eating Thai food all week because I was too lazy to cook.

8 - Red Box movie and cookies with the kids.

9 - Mr. Is home from his business trip!!!

10 - Family fun day at the Carlsbad flower fields

11 - Mini Fox is all about Daddy

12 -  Car races down the slide with Baby Fox

13 - Back at R.I.P.P.E.D. To the Core...I love this class so much.

14 - Driving to Vegas to meet The Blended Blog Ladies!!!!!!!

15 - First day of BAM, not sure if I like this conference thing.

16 - The conference ROCKED today and had the best time staying up late chatting and laughing

17 - My love language...shopping all day with my best gals!

18 - So hard to get back into the swing of things after such a great weekend

19 - Birthday dinner at parents house for my dad's 70th birthday!

20 - I got a bunch of allergy testing on my back...soooo uncomfortable!

21 - Only one more day before I get my patch testing off!

22 - I was more allergic to the tape of the patch test than the tests themselves, darn it!

23 - Chuck E Cheese birthday party followed by Baby Fox's hair cut.

24 - Went swimming after breakfast and the kids loved that I got in the pool, must do that more.

25 - Helped out a friend in the hospital and entertained her kids for the evening.

26 - HIIT, I have no idea what it stands for other than the toughest, butt kicking workout ever! (Turns out it stands for High Intensity Interval Training)

27 -  Wasn't sure if I could do my R.I.P.P.E.D to the Core today but did okay and felt great, phew!

28 - Took the kids to the mall for dinner, perfect night with them.

29 - Mr. is home and it's the weekend!!!!!

30 - Had a craving for onion rings, got some and was disappointed.

That's it for this month! So much fun, re-reading these that I've written. I was debating to add photos to each one of these, but realized I don't have one from each day...so figure, eh.

Now go check out the other ladies that did it this month. I hope to see some of you next month!

April in Numbers

Today I'm linking up with Deena for my month in numbers. If you want to see my previous months, click here.

11 - The number of years our red luggage lived. After Mr. got back from Vegas he deemed that foot long tear in the bottom a deal breaker...good bye red luggage that I bought for our Honeymoon at Macy's for $60 (it came in a set of three, the largest luggage broke).

9 - The number of nights either Mr. or I was traveling this month.

2 - The number of trips that this family took to Vegas, once for me and once for Mr.

1 - The number of ribbon bouquets I made at bridal showers. If you need a ribbon bouquet I'm your girl...I should give lessons, hehe.

8 - The number of allergy shots I got this month. I finally made it to maintenance mode, I should be at 4 next month, woo hoo! It used to be 32...so I'm happy with this number :)

Taking a picture at a downward angle...not cute!
2,250 - The number of miles I drove this month...roughly.

316 - The number of pictures I took at the Flower Fields. I think we got a few good ones, which is all I'm asking. I need something for the calendar!

13 - The number of times I worked out. I'm aiming to workout 4-5 days a week next month. There I said it on the blog, therefore I have to do it. Keep me honest people.

22 - The number of hair styles I did this month, woo hoo! My favorite one by far!

21 - Posts written in April, wow, so many posts! I think my favorite was the one about meeting some of my fellow Blended Bloggers. So much fun

25 - The number of selfies I took. Actually that's not totally true, I took more, just got lazy and didn't post every single one from Vegas, I mean we're bloggers, what else are we going to do? P.S. I was all done with this post and was going over March's numbers and realized, HOW COULD I FORGET THE SELFIES! So I added it for you. You're welcome I'm sure you wanted to know how many I took!

27 - Outfits I wore in April, two not pictures, because then the graphic would be off...

That's all I have this month. What was a number from your month?
