Friday Favorites #72

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! My family and I are off to the lake for a few days with some friends, so excited to spend some time with them and relax a bit...at least I hope it's relaxed hehe.

In case you missed it this week:

Monday: Let's Talk...Summer Plans
Tuesday: A Summer Wreath Tutorial
Wednesday: Style Perspectives - A Summer Dress
Thursday: Sentence A Day

Apprently I really like summer, since 3 of my 4 titles have the word "Summer" in it.

Starting right now...we're doing Create 28, where each of The Blended Bloggers styles a prompt for 28 days of outfits. Fun right? All the styles will be recapped on Wednesdays with a link up, hope you join along in the fun! My day is on Sunday, where I'll be styling a Summer Wedding Look.

Another fun thing coming up on The Blended Blog is What's In My...where the 1st Tuesday of each Month we peek inside your purse, junk drawer...etc. First link up is on Tuesday come see what's inside of our purses...mine was a wreck! And actually doing this post made me clean it out finally, haha!

Down to my last few things in my closet. I can't wear everything right now, since I have to work, but I think these are going to be my last two outfit posts of wear everything in my closet...crazy, it took exactly 2 months to wear almost everything in my closet...now what? Hmmm...maybe not repeat an outfit...but that would take work to remember what I had paired together. Anyone out there use a good app to keep track of that? I've been wanting to download one, but not sure which one to do, and I don't feel like taking a picture of everything in my closet.

The one on the right is sort of cheating...it's a bathing suite cover up, but I legit wore this all day...so I thought, this counts, right?

What's a Friday Favorite without some sort of favorite dessert I found scrolling through FB?

Happy Friday all! Family and I are off at the Lake, hopefully enjoying ourselves and not waking up too early, although the people we are going with are early birds...ugh. Wish me luck and mostly the kids luck...I expect several break downs and a lot of naps in our future.

Style Perspectives: A Summer Dress and Hair Challenge 22

Here we are with our last prompt from Style Perspectives, today is Andrea's turn and she picked A Summer Dress.  I love me a good dress, I think if I could I would wear one everyday during the summer I would. Unfortunately kids sort of prevent me from doing that. Go check out what Andrea has in store for you and see who got the most clicks last week! Here is recap from last week:

I decided to style one of my favorite colors, pink! This is a spaghetti strap dress but since I detest wearing a strapless bra, I usually go the sweater route so I don't have to wear one...does anyone else do that?

I love the little eyelet detail on the dress. I got this from Old Navy on clearance a while back, such a good score!

I had been trying to do this braid for a while. I tried once in Vegas, but failed since I couldn't hear the directions...but my second try I could hear the directions and it took me about 30 minutes to do it, it was worth it, super cute and in case you wanted to know I used about 15 rubber bands. I wish I was kidding.

In the end I think it was totally worth it and turned out great! Definitely going to be something I do again, when I have ample amounts of time to do it...since it is a time consuming thing. I need to find some hair ties that doesn't take out half of my hair with it when taking them out...ouch those things hurt!

Now onto the Hair Challenge. I've been noticing a pattern, I don't do much during the week, and do everything on the weekend. I need to change that, but then that would require me to get up slightly earlier than I already do I would usually prefer the extra 10-15 minutes of sleep. Sorry about that.

Saturday I saw this tutorial and wanted to try it out, I think it's a fun do for summer. Although I can't tell you how many bobby pins I'm using...at least 15...probably more like 20...

Sunday for church I wanted to try something a little out of the norm and fun. I didn't like it at first, but I spent so much time doing it I just went with it, but it grew on me and in the end I really liked it. It was something different. I think sometimes having such dark hair with no highlights makes it hard to see the smaller braided details...

There is suppose to be a braid and a fishtail in there, but the fishtail when I puffed it out turned out wierd when I went to tie it back so I had to bobby pin it some to get it from sticking out which I think changed the look...but hey I still think it's cute.

This one...not so sure about. I wanted to do this type of crown braid, when the thick part was on the top of your head instead of the skinny part...I think it's too close to myforhead. And I took a group picture that made me look like I had an alien head...so this one is out...at least with the braid right on my forehead like this...looking back at the video she had pulled bangs out in the front to frame her face...I need to get me some layers.

But the back looks pretty good.

Now that the Style Perspectives is over, what's next for us? Good thing you asked because the ladies have taken over Carrie and Whitney's Create 28! Each one of us is taking a prompt and making it our own, we'll be posting a recap of all of the looks on Wednesday's over on The Blended Blog and we'll still all be hosting the link up.

Hopefully you'll find some inspiration and link up one of your Create 28 outfits! Here is the first weeks prompt:

Summer Wreath Tutorial

Happy Tuesday Foxy Friends! We had such a lovely day yesterday with some friends and a heated pool. Mr. decided to heat the pool for everyone it was so nice, especially since the morning started off super over cast and cloudy and a bit cold. But the sun was shining at the end it was so nice to chit chat while the kids played. I thought since Summer was just around the corner I would show you how I transformed my Easter Wreath into a Summer Wreath.

If you're new here, I've been using this same Burlap Wreath and changing out the ribbon and decorations so I don't have to make and then store a new wreath for every holiday. Where do people store all of their holiday wreaths? So I set out to make one wreath and change it up for the holidays, then I just had to store the small amount of decorations and not an entire wreath.

St. Patrick's Day Wreath
Easter Wreath

Materials Needed:

One Burlap Wreath (Made previously, click here)
3 Spools of Ribbon (Originally $7.99 but on sale for $3.99 at Hobby Lobby)
Chalk Board Sign ($5.99 but used a 40% of coupon)
The Letter "C" (Which I didn't end up using...)

Directions:

I started with my Easter Wreath:

After striping down al of the stuff, I was left with my basic burlap wreath again. I didn't puff it back up knowing I was going to be putting ribbon through it.

When I was at Hobby Lobby with the kids, truth be told I had no idea what I wanted to do. I thought I wanted some cute flip flops and sand pails, I thought they would have some miniature sized ones that I could cutely arrange somehow. We didn't find it...So we headed to the ribbon isle. I saw the chevron print and thought I've been wanting to do something with chevron print. The kids picked the colors, no joke, so I went with it, hey if they like it, why not.

Here is what NOT to do:

I started with the purple ribbon, and started putting it in through the front side of the wreath...I would push some burlap aside and pull the ribbon through.

This is what it ended up looking like:

Which was okay...but it was all down the center, and I realized when I added the other two colors they were most likely going to be on either side and then I would have three stripes...no good. But I continued on...but instead of going from the front side, I went in from the back side, the wire side of the wreath.

This way I could easily control where the ribbon ended up. I was fighting too much with the burlap going in from the front side. After getting about 6 inches down I realized this was way easier and took out the purple ribbon, so I could start over. Doesn't that look so much better with the purple all over instead of just in the middle?

Then I added the blue ribbon to fill in the gaps.

Looking a little closer....

Then I went to Pinterest to find out how to write something on a chalk board, since I have no artistic ability what so ever when it comes to drawing stuff...The chalk board actually had a shoelace like thing on the end of it, so you can take off the ribbon easy, put it around the wire and attach it back on. I should have taken a picture...darn. I tried to add the "C" but realized...that's just too much. So I'll have to use that some other time. Seriously I bought this C a while ago and have wanted to use it for every project...it just hasn't worked out. Do you agree, or do you think I should add it?

So there you go, this whole thing took me maybe 30 minutes...especially since the burlap wreath was already made.

Burlap Wreath

I need your help Beth! HELP ME with my sign, can you come and just do it for me? I'll feed you and you can use the pool. Pretty please.

So there you have it, a simple Summer Wreath.

Let's Talk: Summer Plans

Hi Foxy Friends! Happy Memorial Day for those that are in the U.S. Everyday I'm thankful for those men and woman in the service who gave their lives so I can live the life I have today.

Today I'm linking up with Andrea for her Let's Talk Series, today's topic is what we have planned this Summer.

We have two mini trips planned this summer. The first one we're going to a lake nearby with some friends. We're super excited about that, and we expect to get no sleep. As the people we're going with...their kids typically wake up 3 hours before ours...think about that...three hours before our kids ever wake up...wish us luck, 6 adults and 7 kids in one cabin.

Not where we are going, a different lake
The next trip we have planned is for the end of July, we're going to LEGOLAND with my cousins and all of their kids. So excited to get to spend some time with my cousins. I know Baby and Mini Fox are super excited to spend the night at the LEGOLAND Hotel and go to the water park, which they have been dying to go to.

Just add 3 more kids to this picture for next time!
Other then those two trips, we don't have much planned. Probably a lot of this is going to happen.

And both of the kids are going to get a lot of these this summer....swim lessons! Trust me, he's forgotten how to do this! And Mini Fox is going to get water safe.

The Beach, now that Mini Fox is a little older, we're going to be hitting up the beach as much as we can.

Bubbles, lots of bubbles...

I think the Park is calling our name too.

And maybe we'll add in some fun dinner dates at the park with friends.

Also planning Baby Fox's half birthday party...he wants another Super Hero thing, so expect lots of Super Hero stuff coming your way.

Seems like a pretty busy summer to me. Before we know it Halloween is going to be here...and boy do I have something pretty spectacular up my sleeve for our costumes this year! Stay tuned...really hoping that it turns out as good as I think it can be in my head...
