Summer Wreath Tutorial

Happy Tuesday Foxy Friends! We had such a lovely day yesterday with some friends and a heated pool. Mr. decided to heat the pool for everyone it was so nice, especially since the morning started off super over cast and cloudy and a bit cold. But the sun was shining at the end it was so nice to chit chat while the kids played. I thought since Summer was just around the corner I would show you how I transformed my Easter Wreath into a Summer Wreath.

If you're new here, I've been using this same Burlap Wreath and changing out the ribbon and decorations so I don't have to make and then store a new wreath for every holiday. Where do people store all of their holiday wreaths? So I set out to make one wreath and change it up for the holidays, then I just had to store the small amount of decorations and not an entire wreath.

St. Patrick's Day Wreath
Easter Wreath

Materials Needed:

One Burlap Wreath (Made previously, click here)
3 Spools of Ribbon (Originally $7.99 but on sale for $3.99 at Hobby Lobby)
Chalk Board Sign ($5.99 but used a 40% of coupon)
The Letter "C" (Which I didn't end up using...)

Directions:

I started with my Easter Wreath:

After striping down al of the stuff, I was left with my basic burlap wreath again. I didn't puff it back up knowing I was going to be putting ribbon through it.

When I was at Hobby Lobby with the kids, truth be told I had no idea what I wanted to do. I thought I wanted some cute flip flops and sand pails, I thought they would have some miniature sized ones that I could cutely arrange somehow. We didn't find it...So we headed to the ribbon isle. I saw the chevron print and thought I've been wanting to do something with chevron print. The kids picked the colors, no joke, so I went with it, hey if they like it, why not.

Here is what NOT to do:

I started with the purple ribbon, and started putting it in through the front side of the wreath...I would push some burlap aside and pull the ribbon through.

This is what it ended up looking like:

Which was okay...but it was all down the center, and I realized when I added the other two colors they were most likely going to be on either side and then I would have three stripes...no good. But I continued on...but instead of going from the front side, I went in from the back side, the wire side of the wreath.

This way I could easily control where the ribbon ended up. I was fighting too much with the burlap going in from the front side. After getting about 6 inches down I realized this was way easier and took out the purple ribbon, so I could start over. Doesn't that look so much better with the purple all over instead of just in the middle?

Then I added the blue ribbon to fill in the gaps.

Looking a little closer....

Then I went to Pinterest to find out how to write something on a chalk board, since I have no artistic ability what so ever when it comes to drawing stuff...The chalk board actually had a shoelace like thing on the end of it, so you can take off the ribbon easy, put it around the wire and attach it back on. I should have taken a picture...darn. I tried to add the "C" but realized...that's just too much. So I'll have to use that some other time. Seriously I bought this C a while ago and have wanted to use it for every project...it just hasn't worked out. Do you agree, or do you think I should add it?

So there you go, this whole thing took me maybe 30 minutes...especially since the burlap wreath was already made.

I need your help Beth! HELP ME with my sign, can you come and just do it for me? I'll feed you and you can use the pool. Pretty please.

So there you have it, a simple Summer Wreath.

Let's Talk: Summer Plans

Hi Foxy Friends! Happy Memorial Day for those that are in the U.S. Everyday I'm thankful for those men and woman in the service who gave their lives so I can live the life I have today.

Today I'm linking up with Andrea for her Let's Talk Series, today's topic is what we have planned this Summer.

We have two mini trips planned this summer. The first one we're going to a lake nearby with some friends. We're super excited about that, and we expect to get no sleep. As the people we're going with...their kids typically wake up 3 hours before ours...think about that...three hours before our kids ever wake up...wish us luck, 6 adults and 7 kids in one cabin.

Not where we are going, a different lake
The next trip we have planned is for the end of July, we're going to LEGOLAND with my cousins and all of their kids. So excited to get to spend some time with my cousins. I know Baby and Mini Fox are super excited to spend the night at the LEGOLAND Hotel and go to the water park, which they have been dying to go to.

Just add 3 more kids to this picture for next time!
Other then those two trips, we don't have much planned. Probably a lot of this is going to happen.

And both of the kids are going to get a lot of these this summer....swim lessons! Trust me, he's forgotten how to do this! And Mini Fox is going to get water safe.

The Beach, now that Mini Fox is a little older, we're going to be hitting up the beach as much as we can.

Bubbles, lots of bubbles...

I think the Park is calling our name too.

And maybe we'll add in some fun dinner dates at the park with friends.

Also planning Baby Fox's half birthday party...he wants another Super Hero thing, so expect lots of Super Hero stuff coming your way.

Seems like a pretty busy summer to me. Before we know it Halloween is going to be here...and boy do I have something pretty spectacular up my sleeve for our costumes this year! Stay tuned...really hoping that it turns out as good as I think it can be in my head...

Friday Favorites #71

Happy Friday Foxy Friends! It's a long weekend for us, yay! And guess what? We actually have no plans...yet. So excited to just hang out and do nothing! Well we do have to get some passport photos done, other than that, nothing. Woo hoo! Onto some of my favorite things this week.
In case you missed it this week

Thursday: Life Lately

I took finally remembered to get the pictures off of Mr.'s phone...here are some of my faves.

When Mr. is at home with the kids he likes to make them hotdog art...so sweet.

This one is from Mother's Day and is probably the cutest picture ever! I love when we all hold hands and hey look at that, we're all in the same step too.

While I was off taking Baby Fox to Disneyland, Mr. took Mini Fox on a date of pizza and Yogurtland...she's been doing this thumbs up thing recently, she does want to be BB8 for Halloween, so maybe she's copying him? Hilarious.

As a reward at Mr.'s work they took them on a boat cruise around the harbor, this is the picture he took to show me what a gorgeous day out it was...He can take selfies without having to ask him, so proud!

So excited that Nordstrom was having their half yearly sale. I've been looking for a black blazer, the one I have I'm not really in love with and wanted to find something a bit longer. The one I got is fitted and short, I'm really hoping this one works out. And that blue cold shoulder, I saw Andrea (fairly certain that's who it was) had it and I wanted it, but couldn't justify the price...but now it's on sale, you better believe I swooped that up in a hurry! I hope it looks as good on me as it did her! I've been looking to add some floral in my wardrobe, what's better than a swing dress? And workout tops, always need more of those, and I really like the shirts that come with the built in bras. The necklace, I bought the white one in Vegas and I wear it ALL.THE.TIME. You guys have to get it, it just completes outfits is super easy to wear and it's only $11! Come on! Just get it already.

What I got at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Black Blazer ($59) // Cold Shoulder Top ($29) // Tent Dress ($28) //  Workout Tanks ($19 - Sold out, similar) // Necklace ($11)

*I did buy these with my own money, but linked products are affiliates and I will receive a small commission if you click on it. Thank you for your support!

You guys, I am almost at the end of my wear my closet challenge! Getting to the last 10 things or so...Yay! So happy that I did this. Okay so I lied, I have bridesmaids dresses and stuff in my closet that I haven't worn, but for some reason I can't seem to get rid of them...anyone else? I've been in 7 weddings and I have all of the dresses still...

Video Favorites of the week:

Is anyone else excited about this? When Mr. and I went to NYC we wanted to see a Broadway play, we vacillated on what to go see, I was interested in Jersey Boys and a few others that I can't remember, but in the end we decided to see something we both knew so we could enjoy the whole experience of seeing a Broadway play, and we saw Beauty and the Beast, holy heck people, it was fantastic!

I'm so looking forward to seeing this with my Mom, we saw the live version of Cinderella together and fell in love with it, I'm sure this will be no different.

At one of the birthday parties we went to last weekend, was at a bounce house and they set up a field goal station for fun with the kids...I think Baby Fox might be bound for the NFL...kicker, doesn't get hit, I think I like this. We did tape this in slo mo but it never comes across when you load it, does anyone know how? Besides going in and editing it with video software?

Last week when we met up with Meg, she warned me that the kids might get muddy so we came prepared, good thing we did, she pretty much got soaked, but had a blast doing it!

What Up Wednesday... Thursday

Today I'm linking up with Mel, Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday....on a Thursday. I like looking back on these, especially since it's the same questions each month, click here for the past months.

What we're eating this week:

Still boring and eating some beef with beens and guacamole and Salsa...speaking of Guac...have you guys seen/bought the organic guacamole from Costco...the bomb.com seriously. You have to try it, it really is good, and if you're too lazy to make your own, this is the way to go. I think it's $10 for three small tubs of it...deal if you ask me, I mean just to buy the avocados for the guac would cost more then that.

What I'm reminiscing about:

Three years ago this month, I was pregnant with Mini Fox and we took Baby Fox to Disneyland for the first time...it was record breaking heat that day, I think it was in the high 90's and we were dying, but Baby Fox never complained about how hot it was, just kept on going...and going...and going...

No there is nothing wrong with the coloring of this picture, we were just that hot and red and sweaty...we were taking the train ride to try and get some shade and cool off. I think we went on Small World a few times that day...

What I'm loving:

My hair challenge...I'm in week 21 and while it's getting hard to come up with more styles and I don't have as much time to do it on the weekends I'm still enjoying trying new things out, which is good cause I still have a long way to go.

I did this post about what I have learned so far...like which hair product of the bazillion that I bought that I like the most...so far.

What we've been up to:

I've been taking Baby Fox to Disneyland a lot this month, just happened to work out that way. Pretty soon our passes are going to be blocked off for the summer, so have to take advantage of going as much as possible now.

What I'm dreading:

Mini Fox starts ISR (infant self Rescue) lessons next month. Super nervous for her, but she needs them. She needs to be water safe STAT.

What I'm working on:

Trying to get better...I've had this sinus thing for almost a week now, totally over it. I can't work out, which I really don't like, and I just want to get back into the swing of things and feel normal again and have Mr. back in the same bedroom as me. Currently we are sleeping separetly so I don't get him sick and since I sleep so poorly with a stuff nose, he sleeps in a different room so he can get rest. Anyone else do that too? Or are we alone in this...

What I'm excited about:

We are looking at a few places that we are going to take our very first week long family vacation, I'm so excited. We're trying to see if it will work out to go with another family, fingers crossed that it works out! I'm so excited, either way we're booking something for Mr's 40th birthday. I hope it looks something like this:

The view from the pool on our Honeymoon, no we're not going here, but I hope it's tropical and has lots of beaches
What I'm watching/reading:

Watching Sons of Anarchy...love that show! Well actually we took a break to catch up on Blacklist...holy heck those few episodes leading up to the finale...nail biters!

What I'm listening to:

Mini Fox talk up a storm...seriously all day long. It's so sweet and I love hearing her little voice and what she has to say...most of the time.

What I'm wearing:

I've been wearing everything in my closet, since March 1st, and guess what? I'm almost to the end, I have a few shirts left that I can only wear on the weekends (tank tops) and then a few long sleeve sweaters, that I am still debating if I am going to keep them. I think this is almost everything.

What I'm doing this weekend:

NOTHING! Yay! We have a few errands to run, Costco, passport photos and having some friends over on Monday but other than that, I'm hoping to feel a little better so I can get to the gym on Saturday. Fingers crossed that works out.

What I'm looking forward to next month:

We're going on vacation with these crazy people! Just going to the Lake for 4 days, but we're all looking forward to some down time together.

What else is new:

Umm...not much else. I pretty much told you everything.

What I'm looking forward to this summer:

Headed to LEGOLAND with my cousins and their kids to celebrate a birthday. We're all spending the night at the hotel and spending two days there, yay! Next time we take this picture there will be 4 more cousins in there, woo hoo!
