How To Decorate Your Thanksgiving Table

Hi Foxy Friends! I was talking to my mom today and she said hey, remember when we did that video on how to decorate your Thanksgiving table? I can't find it on our Youtube Channel (yep I have a YouTube channel with my mom, separate from my Youtube Channel). I thought, well I remember editing it, and low and behold, I had a completely edited and ready to upload video all set to go. I figure, well good thing she noticed now, we can upload this now, and it's still relevant.  So here is how you use what you have in your house to decorate your thanksgiving table!

We used things that she had around from previous Thanksgivings/ Fall decorations. Decorating your table does not mean you have to go out and spend a ton of money. I find that I like to add one piece here and there, and then over the years you get a different looking table, and only spending a minimal amount of money. Here is the video that we put together on the steps to create your own Thanksgiving table. Make it interesting, and put little things around the table for people to look at, like those turkey salt and pepper shakers or the scarecrow. Doesn't have to be uniform, the more unique the better!

Here is a close up of the table setting

And the table put together

Added a pumpkin for decorations, not that we're going to eat it :)

How To Make A Wreath For Your Kitchen Cabinets

Hi Foxy Friends! I know it's a little late, but I figure better late than never right? I filmed this tutorial over a year ago, but didn't get around to editing it, so here it is now, two months late, oops! I just love how they turn out and I'm so sad when I have to take them down. Currently I have yet to take them down. I figure, it's red, sort of goes with Valentine's Day...so up it stays for a few more weeks.

Here are the things you're going to need:

Grapevine Wreath (the large cabinets have 8" and the smaller cabinets have 6")
Ribbon (I used 2.5 inch, wired ribbon)
Command hooks (I used these, but these work too)
Glue Gun
Sissors

What To Do:

For those of you that like videos, here is the video I made, else I have step by step instructions for those that like to read about it.

Step 1 - Apply hooks to cabinets, needs to be applied at least an hour before you hang anything.

Step 2 - Make bow for wreath seen in the video below.

Step 3 - Glue straight ribbon around the wreath, this is a cheat way, so that we get the perfect looking bows.

Step 4 - Glue to bow to the wreath

Step 5 - Tie knot and attach to cabinet

Completed look!

I might be obsessed with putting wreaths on things. I also did this on my French Doors...eventually these wreaths will be moved to the kitchen, but for now I'm going to enjoy having all the wreaths.

Anyone else on the wreath train with me?

Holiday Decororations Tour

Hi Foxy Friends! I know you've all been waiting for this...okay not really. And truth be told, I didn't finish decorating until yesterday so I could do this post for you...so there you have it #alwaysbehind. Anyway, I got it up, so that's what counts, right? So let's get started. One day I'll do a video on it, but today is not that day.

This is considered our "Fancy" Christmas Tree. I actually took a picture before putting up the garland on the stairs so you can see it a little better. Also if you want to see a video on how I decorate this tree, click here.

I also do garland on the stair case. I think next year I might add some more to it, I'm ready to add more, I ran out of time this year...I feel like the days are just swishing by!

Then we have a Christmas tree upstairs that is for all of the ornaments that we get from family and friends and the ones that I had growing up. It's fun to put them on the tree with the kids each year and explain each ornament to them. They love hearing the stories.

Moving onto the tree in the black carpet room (what my daughter calls it), we put a tree in here, becasue typically it is where we set up the drinks and dessert for Christmas dinner, and it's just fun to have a tree there. My mom came over and decorated this one, birthday themed for Baby Fox.

Mr. and I also do a themed birthday tree where we put his birthday gifts. Here are the themes over the years. This year is going to be Lego, we haven't put it up for him yet. Usually we do it on a random night so he can wake up to it. This is from 2015

Last year I saw someone put wreaths on their kitchen cabinets and I knew I wanted to do it again. But I forgot, until Andrea reminded me when she put them on her kitchen cabinets. Copied. This might be my new favorite addition this year. I don't ever want to take it down...

I got the wreaths (they're called Grapevine Wreaths if you wanted to know). You can find them here or here. The ones found here, come in different sizes. So the wreaths on the bigger doors are 8" and the wreaths on the smaller doors are 6", in case you wanted to know.

Our mantel is fun, I just love a good decorated mantel.

We have our manger set up on the table just by the front door. I'm thinking I want to change out that picture so it's holiday themed...

Back to the kitchen, this is where we display our Christmas cards. You can see how I did it here.

If you want to know how to make the cute clips, click here and here.

And last thing I'm going to share are these fake canvas prints I made. I made them for less than $5, I feel better about that, because I only hang them for a couple of months out of the year.

You can see a glimpse over to the right the area behind my kitchen sink. Truth be told I did half of these decorates yesterday. I didn't get around to finishing the area behind my sink. But when I do, I'll make sure to update this post for you!

Halloween Decorations

Happy Monday Foxy Friends! I can't believe that it's the end of October already. Today over on The Blended Blog the Monday theme is Fall Creative...we'll I am working on our Halloween Costumes, which aren't ready yet... I bet I'll be sewing up until we leave the house to go trick or treating...so I can't share that just yet. So instead you get to see my Halloween decorations. I don't go all out for Halloween, but I like the touches of Halloween here and there.

I love a good mantel. Don't you?

I like to incoroprate the kids Trick Or Treat bags, I mean I paid all that money, might as well use it!

The other section I decorate is our entry way table. It would be fun to change out the picture to a Halloween one, but my question is, how do people store all that stuff?!

I have no idea where I got the orange lights, but while going through my bins, there it was, so I must have bought it at some point.

So that is my Fall creativeness for now. I'll post about our Halloween costumes when I get my act together...it's a lot of hand sewing. Go link up your Fall Creativeness over on The Blended Blog.

Christmas Trees On Parade

Hey Foxy Friends! I know I'm on a roll! Two posts one day, say what?! But, I couldn't pass this one up! Terri from Christmas Trees Lane organized this Christmas tree parade. So take a look at some other bloggers and have fun!

Today I'm going to show you our Traditional Tree, in the sense this is where we put all of the random ornaments we've collected over the years. This tree is upstairs and where Santa leaves all of his goodies. Although Baby Fox is starting to think it's creepy that Santa is walking around our house leaving gifts, cause it's in a room that is furthest from the fireplace. So this is our tree, full disclosure, we did this on November 12th. I know super early, but we were traveling the following weekend and then Mr. was traveling for the two weeks/weekend after that. So no time like RIGHT NOW to start.

So here is the tree all finished.

It's a scrawny tree, donated to us by my parents back when we first got married, and they had it for a while before that, so I think this tree is pushing 20, if not more...It's been good to us. I'm thinking next year I might upgrade to a better one...we'll see. Anyway, this is the tree that we put all of our ornaments that we've collected over the years on.

Gotta have candy canes right? For whatever reason the kids wanted them up high...

Tip: Let the kids do their thing and put the ornaments where they want. Yes it's not probably where you put it, but it gives the kids a sense of pride knowing they decorated the tree.

Each year we head to Hallmark and let the kids pick out one ornament...it's fun to see what they chose each year.

Here are a few favorites this year:

Mini Fox: she LOVES this ornament. Any time she walks into the room, she has to turn it on and dance to it...see video below, minute 2:30. She got this one last year, and it remains her favorite. Although a close second is a tea cup and tea pot, which she pretends she pours and drinks AFTER she dances to the ballerina.

Baby Fox loves this Batman car, it does light up, but it's out of batteries right now. Darn.

This ornament my grandmother gave to me before I came to America. Acutally I was suppose to come here in November, but they didn't put me on the plane, my parents showed up at the airport, thinking they were getting me, to have to go home empty handed and wait another 1.5 months for me to come. My grandma had already bought this. I'm so happy after I got married my mom gave me this.

I think this is Mr.'s favorite ornament. I made this for him with Baby Fox when he was 1. Being born on Christmas just makes this that much more special.

So that is our traditional Christmas tree. Stay tuned, in a couple of weeks I'm showing the rest of our Christmas decorations, actually if you want to join in on the fun, join us at The Blended Blog for a Christmas decoration link up, December 19.

For those that like videos, I put together a video of us putting all of the ornaments on...in fast forward of course.

Thanks Terri for hosting!
