Tahoe Vacation

Hi Guys! I'm back from our vacation. I was so tired on Sunday when we got back that I actually went to bed when the kids went to bed. I was exhausted. I've recovered and ready to show you a ridiculous amount of pictures of our trip to Lake Tahoe.

We woke up the kids at 5am to get going (according to the iphone map it was going to be an 8.5 hour trip without stops), our hope was that they would stay asleep and sleep for a good while before waking up.

The first couple of hours Mr. and I just sat and enjoyed the views.

Pretty sunrise

Baby Fox woke up first and we let him watch some movies we had on the iPad (first time ever). He thought it was super cool and didn't realize we couldn't hear what he was listening to, so he would comment to us and start laughing and look at us to see if we were laughing too.

Breakfast time, and about half way there. Genius to get 2.5 hours of drive time while they were still sleeping. We stopped here for some breakfast, it was actually pretty good.

We changed the kids into some regular clothes. Mini Fox and I were waiting for the boys to finish, perfect time for a selfie. Notice my curly hair, I did it really quick before we left because my bedhead was ridiculous.

Mini Fox didn't want her picture taken.

Someone enjoyed her breakfast

yes the pancake was really that big
I said, let's take a selfie and then told everyone to lean in. Notice Mini Fox is leaning in but facing the wrong way, she totally thought because she could see Daddy that she was looking the right way.

The owner gave Baby Fox a sucker and Mini Fox some chocolate chips.

Back on the road again, we stop one more time at a park to let the kids play (no pictures apparently), and we make it to the cabin, 11 hours after we started our journey. The kids did great! We decided to go on a walk to the lake.

Can you believe this picture is straight out of the camera, no color correcting? It was gorgeous!

Friday everyone else met up with us (8 adults and 6 kids 4 and under) and we decided to go up the gondola to the top. Turns out it was a bit pricey, but we had already promised Baby and Mini Fox we would go, so we kept our promise, while everyone else stayed behind and ate some lunch.

Walking over to buy our tickets

Just got on the gondola, Mini Fox isn't so sure

Selfie, even though Mr.'s head is chopped off, I love that Mini Fox is all smiles

We stopped at the look out point first. Don't worry, she was okay, she just fell, she stopped crying 2 seconds later.

Then we headed back onto the Gondola to go to the very top.

Making snowballs

Just don't eat the yellow snow Mini Fox!

Love this picture! Yes it did hit me...on my legs

He wanted to taste the snow too.

Someone made this cute little snowman.

The best part I think, Baby Fox found this car in the snow.

Look at my hair, still totally curly! This dry air is amazing for keeping curls, and basically nothing else, because everyone's skin was so dry!

The view from the top

I made everyone my famous heart attack in a dish AKA artichoke cheese dip

This girl and I made dinner Friday night for everyone

The other kids were still taking their naps.

Yummy!

Dinner is served!

That salad was so yummy!

These two are 10 days apart and are two peas in a pod.

Before bedtime antics. The kids adored the bunk beds...

Story time...yep there are 4 kids in there.

And then the two older kids proceeded to play on the bunk beds until midnight! When I finally went in there for the umpteenth time and told them they had to go to sleep. I totally felt like my parents when they would come in and yell at us to go to sleep when we had slumber parties. When did I turn into my parents?!

Saturday after breakfast we took another walk to the lake.

Then after the smaller kids took their morning naps, we ate lunch. Left over dinner, yum!

The kids got some mac and cheese

Then we all headed out to the snow place. It's so sad how little snow there is up there. Usually people are skiing well into April and May and sometimes even into June! It was the last day the play place was open, so glad that we caught it in time.

She pretty much laughed the entire time. I wish you could hear her laughing in the videos I took, but you can't really hear anything.

Waiting for her turn.

Love this picture of them

We headed back for the kids naps...and miracle of all miracles we got 6 kids to nap at the same time! This is reason to drink some beer and relax, ah so this is what it was like before kids.

Dinner was bacon fried rice, yum!

After dinner we took one last walk to the beach, actually it was just me and Mini Fox, Baby Fox wanted to stay behind and hang out in the cabin.

Saturday night was pretty low key.

Baby fooseball

Obligatory kid shot

 And then they were done

Story time, same stories different Dad

These are our people, they moved up to Northern California and we miss them so much, but are so happy that we could vacation together!

Great trip, we left at 5am on Sunday and we made it home in 11 hours, totally exhausted but worth it! Until next time Tahoe!

5 Do's and Don'ts of Spring Fashion

I'm back with my girls and we're talking Spring Do and Don't. So I'm not one for fashion, exactly the reason why I joined Alison's Style Challenge. I know what I like and don't like but have NO idea what is in and what isn't in, unless Alison tells me I'm pretty much a lost puppy.

So for my Do and Don't, I found two articles one from Glamour and one from Vogue, I figure, I've heard of both of these magazines, so they must know something about Spring Fashion.
From their lists I complied my own lists of the Spring 2015 fashions I would participate in and the ones I think I'll pass on.

We'll start with the bad - The Spring Fashion Don'ts - Things that are apparently fashionable that I'm not willing to try.

Yellow, I won't be wearing it, it just doesn't look good on me.

Jumpsuits. I just love them, but they unfortunately don't really like short people. The waist is always weird and just makes me look shorter. But that doesn't prevent me from coveting one and I always try them on...one day I might find one. I'm hopeful, but that's why it's on my don't, they just don't work for me.

Sultry Sheer ...need I say more? Mom's DO NOT wear this...those models yes, gorgeous but everyday house mom, nope, not going to do it.

Mesh - Just no, unless you are covering up a bathing suit.

Culottes, takes me back to...elementary school, and being as short as I am, just makes me look shorter, I try to avoid that at all costs, so this Spring trend is not for me either.

Now onto some of the fashion trends I'm excited to try out!

Gingham, I just love gingham, I don't own any...but that will change this season!

Kimono, YES PLEASE! Both lists had this on it. While I don't have the heavy kimono because it's just not warrented where I live, I will be wearing my light weight one all Spring long.

Black and White - Yes all day long, everyday for the rest of my life. This color combo gets me every time.

All white, I've done it and I didn't think I would like it, but turns out I did. And I would do it again.

Polka dots are my favorite. Maybe not these particular outfits, but in general I am drawn to them, so I can fully say yes to this Spring Fashion!

My New Obsession + Fitness Update

I think I have an obsession with this sweater. Seriously I wear it all the time. Perhaps I need it in more colors, so I'm not always wearing the same sweater? Loft, gotta hand it to you, it's the perfect length, weight, I love everything about it (sorry no longer available).

Fitness Update:

Another week gone...I'm beginning to think this diet might not be for me. In all honesty I just feel not satisfied with eating. Like I'm just eating to live and that's just no fun. But I am feeling pretty good, other then that. We'll see how I feel in a few more weeks. I think Mr. and I decided we're doing this until May 1st.

Half a pound lost. Mr. seems to think I'm getting more toned and my rib cage is slimmer, and I feel like my butt is really getting toned (which I'm sure makes Mr. happy, haha!) I think three weeks of something isn't enough time to really make a judgement. The first few weeks are probably when you're body is adjusting to whatever you're doing. Which is probably why a lot of people quite diets so early on into them. They aren't seeing the results. I wish I had taken measurements of everything, Oh well. I'll keep trudging alone.

Kid Pictures:

What's a post without some pictures of my kids?

Baby Fox showing off his hat he made in preschool. Love that smile.

Mini Fox with my Dad, they're doing "shhhhh, don't tell Mom I'm on a rock"

Picking a Dandelion

One of our neighbors commented on how she looks like a little doll, and I think I have to agree with them, especially with this outfit on.

Show and Tell: Most Embarrassing Moment(s)

Andrea over at Momfessionals is having us talk about our most embarrassing moments. Gosh...what to pick, what to pick...the first one that comes to mind, immediately is when I was in college.

I was in some engineering class and there was this boy in there that I had a major crush on. Like major crush, so we're sitting next to each other in class. Back up a bit, when I was in college I had a different spiral notebook for each class to take notes - side note always college rule...never wide, who uses wide? Also always a different color for each subject...I'm a school supply nerd, don't you just love getting new fresh school supplies? I look forward for when my kids start school and I get to buy them school supplies, Target section in the back, with every choice you could ever want? I'm getting off track...

So I take out my spiral notebook out, and the boy looks at me and is turning a shade of pink I've never seen and says...so I'm pretty sure you don't need that to write notes. I look down and in the spiral part of the notebook a tampon had gotten stuck in there. I could have died a thousands deaths right then and there.

Lately, I'm pretty much embarrassing myself ALL.THE.TIME, but I tend to forget them, because they are embarrassing...but here's one that happened recently:

Last weekend after our hike, some friends were dropping me off at my car and I was walking to my car and the flashlight I was carrying dropped out of my bag. I then realized that there was a hole in my backpack...I panicked and then looked in there to make sure my car keys hadn't escaped too. I couldn't find them, I'm like oh crap, they are driving away, I need to catch them. I start chasing after the car, only to realize a few seconds later, that I was holding my car keys in my hand already! Of course the other person they dropped off witnessed said event and then told my friends at the gym last night. They made fun of me to no end. Totally embarrassing.

My friends
So what's your most embarrassing moment?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

P.S. This is the Care Bear I had growing up.
