Spring In My World

Hi Foxy Friends! Welcome to Monday, I am currently on my way to Santa Barbara for a little get away with Mr. We booked this way back in December and it seemed like it was SO far away, but now we are here. It's been a hot second since we got away, so we're driving the fancy car (Mr. has a convertible Mercedes...or do you say Mercedes convertible...anyway, I call it the yellow car). So let's get to it...I'm linking up with the ladies over on The Blended Blog for a little Monday Asks. Today's topic is all about Spring where you live.

First off, for those of you that don't know I live in Southern California, west coast all the way. I grew up here (moved about 100 miles south of where I grew up), so I don't really know the seasons, but sometimes wish I went to college where it had seasons. I went to college about 50 miles south of where I grew up. I don't go far apparently.

Since this is a Monday, I decided to take pictures of things I saw over the weekend. So here is Spring in my world as of this weekend.

Friday was for getting ice cream as an after school treat.

It was windy...evident by my hair blowing above...so I thought it was the perfect day to try out a kite...speaking of which, kite flying is an art I do not possess, it was hard yo. Or cheap kites don't fly?

And then someone brought their pet bunny to the park...totally random right?

Our friends came over for dinner, and I felt like surf and turf, so that's what I made.

I added some yummy ribs and baked potoato, not shown is the salad that I had too. Promise.

Saturday is made for all kids sports.

First we started with Mini Fox and soccer. (Mr. did her hair that day).

Then we followed up with some baseball.

The baseball was in Laguna Beach, this was the view from the baseball field.

After the game we took a short 4 minute drive to see the ocean view. It's called Top of the World in Laguna Beach if you are ever in the area and want to see it. It's a fun hike. You can drive to the top, and hike down or just enjoy the view. It was really clear when we first got there before the baseball game, but as the game went on the clouds rolled and it got grey outside, darn. Should have stopped to take the picture before the game.

As I was loading the pictures I accidentally got this cool shot.

Oh and we also went to the Little League fundraiser...it was so much fun and hopefully we raised some money for the kids!

Sunday was for church, and some time with new church friends and running around talking and chatting with people. (Mini Fox is by the fountain and Baby Fox is by the pole light with the boy in the blue and white striped shirt).

Then we left the kids with a baby sitter and went wine tasting with my aunt.

It was the perfect day to wine taste and enjoy some good food and wine (they did, not me...someone had to drive).

And that my friends is Spring in my world. There are some flowers around, but mostly everything is green...for this short period of time after the rain has fallen and before the crazy heat hits. So I'm going to enjoy it while I can!

Now go link up what spring looks like in your world over on The Blended Blog.

Friday Favorites #160

Hi Foxy Friends! Today is my day off and I'm try to pack as much as I can into it. The list is endless, so we'll see how much I can squeeze into it. But here are my favorites from the week:

Monday: Spring Cleaning Your Whole House
Tuesday: Day In My Life
Wednesday: Florals and a Mermaid Look
Thursday: Planner Update/How I Organize My Life

I posted twice this week on my YouTube, one was a mermaid look and the other was how I felt my paper planners were working thus far into the year. Go check those out!

I also posted on my YouTube channel last week a new series of videos I'm doing, after a few posts I was going to do a full dedicated post. But you can take a peek before the blog post goes up if you want. I made a whole chicken in my Instant Pot, and you get to see me struggle to figure it out...I'm trying out recipes on the internet and giving you all the details about what I would change and you come along with me in my kitchen as I figure it out. Any recipes you want to see me try?

This past weekend was a blast. Friday we went to our friends house for dinner. I just love our Friday tradition of eating dinner with these folks. We told the kids to sit for their cookies and they sat right on the floor, haha, so funny.

Saturday, was a super busy day, I had to work the Little League Snack Shack, then head over with Mini Fox to her soccer game while Mr. took Baby Fox to his baseball game. Mini Fox did pretty good, got an assist and didn't run the opposite way from the ball...what more could you ask from a 4 year old?

Then Saturday night we dropped the kids at my parents house and drove to LA for my cousin's 40th birthday. It was great to help celebrate, especailly because we weren't going to go because Mr.'s Mom was coming into town, but had to cancel at the last minute.

Sunday we woke up early and got on the computer to try and secure a camping spot in Yosemite. This is our 3rd time trying and guess what?! By some miracle I got us a spot! We're so excited and will be spending the last part of summer break with our Friday night dinner friends and 4 days of camping.

Sunday night we went to my parents house for dinner. My dad's birthday was on Monday, so we celebrated one day early.

Then Baby Fox showed us one of his Karate tricks...actually I'm not sure where he learned it...so think of sitting on your knees, and then in one movement jump to your feet. My dad bet me a dollar I couldn't do it...on the first try. I did it. We tried to record it, but it didn't work out.

The kids are wanting to get more involved with the kitchen. So slowly I'm letting them into the kitchen to cook some things. Here Mini Fox is stirring the mac and cheese (don't worry the stove is off).

And the other day she wanted to do the dishes, so dang cute! Yes this girl has 5 million night gowns.

The Sephora VIB sale starts today, I went with a friend on Wednesday to scope out what we wanted to get, and here's what I'm getting:

This perfume, I don't normally wear perfume, but this one smells so good and is super light so it's the perfect Spring/Summer scent.

I need another eyeshadow palette like I need a hole in my head, but this one...oh my gosh, it is so silky smooth and swatches are intense and super pigmented.

I've been seeing a lot of make up looks using glitter, so naturally I want to try it out too. My friend said this one was awesome. I'm going to get it in Kitten Karma and Bronzed Bell

If you are needing a new foundation, this one is my new favorite, and makes your skin look flawless when paired with a translucent powder.

My friend said that this is part of her everyday make up routine and is a must for brightening. It goes under your concealer, so put this down then your concealer...hey if it's going to make this tired mama look brighter, I'm all in.

Somehow I got sucked into watching kids open their acceptance letters to college. This one was really sweet. You have to watch it, start at 1 minute, it's when she starts opening her letters. Speaking of college, have you seen how much college costs?! Crazy, so much pressure on these kids to get into college. I applied to 4 schools...yep, I had no real back up plan besides going to community college, then transferring out. I fear for my children!

I don't normally share religious things on the blog, but this just really tugged at the heart strings and got me all choked up. I just love the Pope Francis.

Happy weekend! Hope you're doing something fun!

Franklin and Erin Condren Planner Quarter Year Update

Today I'm linking up with Lauren, where every third Thursday of the month, you can share any posts related to scrapbooks, planners, Project Life, and anything else that relates to memory keeping! I thought it would be fun to do a planner update video. Previously I had showed the two planners I was going be using for 2018. I am using the Franklin Covey for regular everyday life, and the Erin Condren I am using for blogger life.

Everyday Life:

I use my Franklin Covey for everyday life. Appointments for myself, the kids, when Mr. is traveling, when we have people visiting, you get the idea. I came up with writing down appointments back when I was in college. I used to do colored pens, but I kept losing the colored pens and when I was out and about and wanted to write an appointment down, I couldn't because I didn't have my colored pens. So I eventually changed it to highlighters so I could write it down in any color and then highlight what it was. This is my highlighter color coding system.

Color Code:

Orange = birthday/anniversaries
Blue = Work
Green = appointments I have, or need to get someone to
Yellow = Baby Fox's extra curricular (you notice how much is yellow in here...)
Purple = Mini Fox's extra curricular

Blogger Life:

I contemplated blogging and my personal calendar all in one calendar, but it was too much information and with such tiny squares, it wasn't going to work. So I separated it and it's been great! Sometimes I put personal information into the blog calendar, like when we're going to be on vacation, but usually I remember. I do highlight in blue my off Fridays, cause that's always constant. This is my color coding system for my blog planner.

Color Code:

Green = My posts
Pink = Link Up post
Orange = The Blended Blog affiliated
Purple  = YouTube Related
Yellow = Filming Day
Blue = off Fridays from work

Watch the video for what I really think and how they are working for me! Thanks for watching and please give it a thumbs up!

Florals and Mermaids Go Together

Hi Foxy Friends! I have two things for you today. First I'm joining the ladies over at The Blended Blog for a little floral style post, and I'm ALSO going WAY out of my comfort zone and tried to do an artistic make up look. I decided I was aiming for a mermaid look...whatever that means, so stay tuned for that.

*Some of the links are affiliate links and I will  either receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you click on it or if you make a purchase from one of these links, I may also receive a commission on the sale of the product. Click here for my disclosure page.

First up is florals. I'm in love with these floral tops from Old Navy, I do believe I have them in three or four different colors, oops!

Shirt (similar but long sleeve) / Jeans (similar here (high end), and here (budget friendly)) / Shoes (similar)

I really like dark background with light flowers, it's my floral jam. Like this one. I liked it so much I bought it in two different styles. This shirt is similar to the pattern below.

This week I also participated in a new to me make up challenge by Vanessa from Vanessa Loves Make Up. The category was artistic make up. Let me tell you how hard it was for me. I tried doing the halo look. Like she did...

That does not look good on monolids...it was awful. So I decided to get creative and use a cut crease method (something I discovered while trying to scour the internet for artistic make up looks on monolids...not out there by the way) Anyway, this is the look I came up with.

 So if you want to see how I got this look, please watch and like the video if you can.

A Day In My Life In 10 Pictures

Linking up with Kristin again for Daily Dime, this time I took pictures of a random Monday when Mr. was gone on a business trip so I was working from home.

April 9th

Mr. left for a buisness trip early in the morning...boo! 5 days without him...yikes!

I took the morning off of work, so I got up about 7am, and did some stuff around the house before the kids got up. I got to eat breakfast with Baby Fox (Mini Fox was still asleep).

I don't usually get to do this, but got to take Baby Fox to school too. Love when I get to drop him off at school.

Got home and Mini Fox was up and so I sat with her while she ate breakfast too.

Her favorite breakfast is toast with cream cheese and scrambled eggs. She makes it a sandwich.

After the kids were gone, I got some work done.

Then before lunch I headed to Costco to get myself my favorite salad, since we were gone for the weekend, I didn't get a chance to go over the weekend.

Later in the evening I took Mini Fox to gymnastics (she's upside down on the even bars behind the green and yellow log).

Then after her gymnastics, we rushed over to see the last 2 innings of Baby Fox's baseball game.

Got the kids home, baths, dinner and bed by 8:45pm.

So that is my random Monday of taking half day vacation and half working from home. I love documenting these days, cause I know in 20 years I'm going to forget all of these little things.
