Blogger Break - What I Did

I know you're dying to know what I did while I was away for the week. Spent time with the Mr., spent time with my family and of course spent lots of time with Baby Fox.

So I guess we'll start at the beginining. I took the week off. Yep, I took Monday through Wednesday off of work so Mr. and I could do a much needed get-a-way to this place:

We left Baby Fox with my parents so we could eat breakfast overlooking the Pacific without having  toddler throwing everything within arms reach...the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

(that lady you see on the left, ordered the most ginormous order of waffles and then only ate 3 bites, I kid you not!)

Then we relaxed by the fire coffeetable (cause everyone has one of those right?)

We had the most fantastic time, relaxing, shopping and eating lots of good food. More to come on our trip later this week.

Wednesday, we headed back to my parents and my sister and I had some fun while setting up for Thanksgiving. My grandma is really sick so the family pulled together to do a Thanksgiving at my Grandma's Club House, when I say club house, I mean a building that hasn't been updated since 1950 in her mobile home park.

(what do you do when you have really good rolly chairs? Push each other and take pictures of course!)

Wednesday night we tried to get Baby Fox to watch a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving...He liked it for 2.5 seconds, then was off and running.

Thursday was spent with family, it was awesome to have all of my cousins, Aunts and Uncles and Grandma all in one place at the same time, has never happened. Made for a very big Thanksgiving dinner, but was so much fun to see everyone.

Friday we drove back home. Baby Fox requested that Mr. drive with Brown Bear

And of course Mr. is too honest to not actually put the bear on his lap, yep he drove about an hour with this bear in his lap.If that's not love, I'm not sure what is...

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out and doing nothing. We ended the weekend with this:

and a little of this:

Love decorating for Christmas and having the decorations up, if only we could keep them up longer. Have you started decorating yet? And do you wait till after the new year to take it down or do you take it down right after Christmas? We're in the after new year camp.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Taking a little blogger break to spend time with the family for the rest of the week.

I'm thankful for my family.

My husband who's my rock and supports me in everything that I do. Who can make me laugh when I'm sad, and knows when he needs to be serious. Just makes the day better just knowing I get to come home to him. When I see him with our son it makes me love him even more than I knew possible.

My Son

When he yells "Mama, Mama, Mama" and when I look over at him, he says "hi", makes my heart melt every single time. He gives me reason to want to be a better person, to do everything in my power to make him happy, and to hear his little giggle. I would do anything to hear him giggle. Everyday I am thankful for him to be in my life and to be able to call him my son.

My Parents

Who couldn't have children of their own, so they opened their home to adoption. I am thankful they were my family, I got a good one. Who show by example of what love really is. Who would do and still does anything and everything for me and my siblings. I love that I was able to give them a grandchild that they love like their own. People who I can talk about anything with and I know who will listen and give advice to the best of their knowledge.

My Siblings:

No matter how much we fight we always love each other. Who I can call at any time to just chat and we can make each other laugh. Who I have so many inside jokes with we can have whole conversations with. The people who know me though everything I've been through and have been there supporting me in everything that I've decided to. To my brother who cried the first time he saw me being a Drum Major in high school. To my sister who has showed my left sided brain to have fun and who can tell one hell of a story.

My Cousins

That no matter what we can get through anything. We always love each other and now that we're adults we can plan a get together and have fun with each other without our parents having to organize it for us. I'm so thankful for all of my cousins and knowing that you can call any one of them and have them by your side if you need them. *

*not all cousins are present

I'm also thankful for all of the second cousins (or as we call them nephews and nieces). I'm so happy that Baby Fox will have so many cousins to play with.

*not all cousins are pictured

Great Grandma

I'm thankful for my grandma and Baby Fox's Great Grandma. She's 88 and is one strong person and can overcome anything. She's sick right now, but is staying positive and loving every second that she can get with her great grandchildren, and is currently waiting for great grandchild number 7.

What are you thankful for?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Now go out and eat a lot of food!

I'll be in a food coma for the next few days so I'll see you next week!

It's Coming

Aparently we're going to skip fall and head straight to winter, according to the crows in my neck of the woods. They all seem to be flying south for the winter...talk about creepy "The Birds" reenactment. All that we could hear was the flapping of their wings overhead, it was almost silent except for that woosh sound of their wings. So creepy!

It started off with just a few

Then you could really see the long line of them

Then all of a sudden "The Birds" were upon us!

And The Results Are

Saturday we went to the Be The One Run. We were worried that it was going to rain, but Mr and I decided that we would go rain or shine, but the weather worked in our favor, cloudy, not raining and perfect walking weather.  The whole thing was truely an amazing experience. There were so many people there supporting family, friends, loved ones, people with matching shirts with pictures of their loved ones, signs, it was really great to see everyone coming together to support such a great cause.

This is my friend Sarah and her sign

This was the sign that they used last year for the run, and has been in every hospital room since then.

Getting ready to start the race. K-Man had a rough night, but everyone still showed up in relatively good spirits.

I ran ahead of everyone with a friend and when we came back around (about mile 2.5), I walked with the rest of the group. Baby Fox got hungry, so we stopped to give him some breakfast, I felt since I already ran most of it, I deserved a break, right?

We let the rest of the group keep going, and when they came back around, we finished off the walk with them.

Almost at the finish line!

Finished!

He wasn't in the mood to walk across the finish line.

We won for the most money raised about $7500!!! and K-man's Dad won for most individual money raised, I think about $2500! Go Team Happy Star!

At the end we took some group pictures, but they haven't sent me the pictures yet, I think they came out really well. Excited to see them. Thanks everyone for the support and prayers!

Be The One - Are You A Match?

Meet Kelptyn. He is the happiest baby you will ever meet. With everything that he has gone through, he finds a way to smile, giggle and let his parents know he is okay and that he's going to get through this, with them by their sides.

Tomorrow Mr, Baby Fox and I are walking in the Be The One Run, a fundraiser for Bone Marrow awareness and funds to help patients, for one of my good friend/ college roommate's son Kelptyn. Kelptyn is only 1 month younger then Baby Fox. He was diagnosed with a rare bone disorder called Osteopetrosis, a disease in which his bones harden and become more dense. The ONLY cure is a bone marrow transplant. He's gone through two to date, usually unheard of and many many surgeries and procedures. Just a few short weeks ago, they were told that the second transplant didn't look like it was working, but Kelptyn kept fighting and it's paying off! It looks like the bone marrow is here to stay the second time around! He's such a happy guy and we're all praying for his miracle. You can find his story written by his Mom and Dad here: http://thehoneygrahams.weebly.com/kelptyns-fight.html

If you aren't a donor, think about putting yourself in the database. It's easy, and can potentially save a life. All you have to do is fill out the registry form and when you join the registry they will send you a registration kit to give a swab of cheek cells. That's it, and then you just wait. I've been on the registry for 15 years, yep, I signed up in high school. What are you waiting for, go do it!

Here is the first time we met Kelptyn, he was just 2 month old.

(please excuse the tired, messy hair, barely put together new moms)

Our pregnant bellies

(why do i slouch so much?!)

Think of us this weekend and send a little prayer out to Kelptyn for his miracle and to his parents to give them the strength they need to continue this fight for their little man.

Something I CANNOT Do

That's right folks, there is something that for the life of me, no matter how many times I try, I cannot seem to grasp the concept. I try again and again and nope, just doesn't work out for me. Mr. always says, you're such a great cook and you can't do the simplest of things. You're wondering what it is? I burn things...a LOT. When I say a lot I mean at least once a week, if not twice, three or four times, sometimes it happens in a single night. Bread is the worst for me. I can not seem to get toast right. Examples of things that I burned in the last 2 weeks alone.

Remember these cookies I made for Halloween? Yep I burned a whole batch of them, and I don't even have the excuse as, it was the first batch, because it was the first and the second batch.

And this sandwich I made? Yep, I just took a picture of the other side, did you notice how you couldn't see the top of the bun? Yep it was because I burned the tops and bottoms of them and didn't want to start over.

Then there is just the bread, I wanted a french loaf dipped in olive oil...and then I burned the outside...twice, wait no make that three times in one night.

(I did eat this piece of bread above, without cutting out the burnt parts, and I liked it)

My mom says, you know if you eat burnt bread it means that you don't value yourself and you deserve better than burnt bread. I tell her, no mom it's a necessity, if I didn't eat burnt bread I would starve...literally, I just took pictures of things I burned in two weeks, imagine how much I burn in a month? Bottom line I have learned to eat burnt bread out of necessity, and it's getting to the point where it's weird if I'm not eating burnt bread. Granted the bread burning business has been slowing down a bit since we got a toaster...it's that darn toaster oven I trust it EVERY.SINGLE.TIME that it's going to cook my bread to perfection, only to have my running towards the toaster oven yelling, My Toast, My Toast!

Don't worry, Baby Fox doesn't eat burnt bread...although he doesn't like bread in general so for now, he's safe...I think I need to slow down and stop multi-tasking while cooking anything that involves the toaster oven and I should be good. Although, what's my excuse for bacon? Darn.

Shirts, Shirts, and More Shirts!

I think I have inspired Mr., he saw this sale and then proceeded to buy 12, yes 12 new polo shirts. And the best part, they're not all solid colors, he bought some colors he's NEVER bought before, see the red, orange and green? Added bonus? He even got some with print on them...suffice to say I'm one happy girl, after being together for almost 10 years, I'm starting to rub off on him!

In other news...we just booked a little get-a-way, sans baby for next week! Dropping off Baby Fox with my parents and we're going to Santa Barbara for a few days before Thanksgiving! So excited! I needed this, work is...well work, you know when you just need to get away and forget about everything? Yep, that's where I am right now. I'm hoping to come back refreshed and ready to get back into work after the Holiday. Then we have Christmas a few weeks later, and I'm taking 2 weeks off then! It's like I don't even work...

Happy Hump Day!
